Post some general boring, everyday, normal shit going on on your life/home. Amusing stories welcome to.

Only rule = no mention of CV, there is a whole topic for that.

I'll start. I used a different washing powder. Pro - it smells nice and must be same one as someone I'm friendly with as reminds me of them! Con - it's made my nose all allergenic. Back to the supermarket own brand one for me.

Oh dementedma how odd ! I’ll bet you were bursting to say something but couldn’t ??

MamasAndPapas · 15/03/2020 18:27

This reminds me of the Tea Shop threads from many years ago. It used to open daily and everyone would pile in for a chat.

Peachypips78 · 15/03/2020 18:28

Today:

Dumplings much fluffier in slow cooker with veg suet.

Marg came to church.

Sofacat · 15/03/2020 18:33

I’ve had a really good tidy up indoors, took my blown down fence panels to the dump and did a bit of weeding in the garden, which was really easy as the ground is so wet , very satisfying!

Shannith · 15/03/2020 18:41

@Wilding oh no. I didn't ride again until DD was 3 but didn't have a horse or live near stables then.

Some friends rode 6 weeks after giving birth, but they are lunatics. Be a nice thing to look forward to once you are ready. It's taken me some time 5 years to get some semblance of core strength back.

Shannith · 15/03/2020 18:46

@lordgarmadon it's great deeply annoying to see how confident and supple they are when they are small.

DD is 8 now and has a lovely seat and is fitter than I will ever be.

I am THAT mum though who hisses " shorten your reins, you're not hanging up the washing, heels down, look where you want to go not at its ears."

I do it very, very quietly though, so I only judge myself Smile

Lonelycrab · 15/03/2020 18:47

I discovered b&q sell an extendable brush type thing, goes up to 3m for about £6.

So I spent a while getting the moss off the garage roof until my arms gave up.

ssd · 15/03/2020 18:53

We've just had a cup of tea and am hunkered down watching telly. Ds2 bored stiff.

CatherineCawood · 15/03/2020 18:55

Opened my bedroom window for a good airing. Just went it to find a bird had shit all over my bed Shock The bloody sheets have only been on since Friday!

Intelinside57 · 15/03/2020 18:58

I've just spent about half an hour lovingly preparing a chicken stew, with dumplings waiting on the side to put in later. It's bubbling away in the oven. Top tip - put a handful of stuffing mix in chicken stew, tastes lovely.

dementedma · 15/03/2020 19:02

@heron, it was odd. All a bit #dontmentionAndrew.
But, things change and this chap seems nice. Mind you, i thought the last one was nice...
We have a wedding dress to sell if anyone wants one.

amusedbush · 15/03/2020 19:07

I’ve taken a long weekend off work to write my dissertation. I’ve done 4000 words since Friday morning and my eyeballs are like raisins now 😴

I’m also dieting so naturally I’m now under a blanket on the sofa watching competitive eaters on YouTube. I’m not saying I could eat 5lbs of burger and chips but right now I’d give it a good go Grin

DMCWelshcakes · 15/03/2020 19:13

@MelAndShoe what sorcery is this? Sounds good.

I've done virtually nothing today as I only got to bed at 4am. Work will be full on for the next few weeks so I'm relaxing while I can.

MelAndShoe · 15/03/2020 19:21

@dmcwelshcakes chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/running-challenges/kdapmdimgdebpgolimjnmcdlkbkddoif?hl=en needs to be on laptop or an android device. But there are other similar ones too. It pulls data from your parkrun profile. It has the pirate and alphabet challenge etc

I cut the grass on Thursday, when the sun was out, it makes such a difference to look out the window and it be neat. Today we went to our local garden centre and picked a few new plants for some empty pots we have and some topsoil as we have some patches that need seeding, also had afternoon tea at the tea shop attached to the nursery. Our youngest kid said picking the plants was his best bit of the weekend, the eldest said it was the two goals and three assists in his teams cup match today. Lovely Sunday topped off with a beef roast. Shame it's work tomorrow.

thunderthighsohwoe · 15/03/2020 19:26

Our toddler ate so many blueberries this weekend that her poo today was blue - genuinely, am not a poo troll

PenguinsOnParade · 15/03/2020 20:13

Having a family movie night with the new Lion King movie. One of the dogs has decided these lions may be dangerous and is barking at poor wee Simba and Nala to scare them away.

LordGarmadon · 15/03/2020 20:13

@dementedma how close was it to the wedding when she called it off? I guess it's better she realised and didn't end up having a messy divorce.

dementedma · 15/03/2020 20:32

With about 6 months to go. No dramas or cheating or anything. Said she had just realised it wasnt the right thing to do. It was all very upsetting for everyone, but as civilised as these things can be. As you say, better to realise before the big day, than after.

tinnitusagain · 15/03/2020 20:41

dementedma I ran into my ex once at a party with his now-wife. We'd split up about 10 years previously and hadn't met since. Wifey and I shook hands, looked at each other and laughed in a slightly embarrassed way. We looked almost identical Wink

squishedgrapes · 15/03/2020 20:53

My neighbours watch every thing I do. Tonight I out out some things for bulked waste collection, they came outside to watch me. Ugh
Three children have developed slight temperatures and coughing, just glad to get it all out of the way and hope it's true about immunity. It really is a dry cough. I thought I might find it difficult to know for sure, but it's obvious

SheilaHammond · 15/03/2020 22:24

I've done some laundry and had a bit of a tidy up. Walked the dog and posted a card to my mum. Rang some relatives for a chat and to see if the elders are taking cv seriously...they're all a bit gung ho in our family. MIL came for a cup of tea. Ate up odds and ends for lunch and risotto for dinner. Now time for a bath and then bed. Work tomorrow.

LaneBoy · 15/03/2020 22:30

This seems like a good thread to ask. I need to design a few little thank you cards for my course leaders. I can draw, so I prefer to make cards myself, but I’m not sure what to do! Two of the four leaders I don’t really know anything about likes and dislikes so was thinking something fairly generic like flowers, butterflies were suggested too. The course is to do with trauma recovery do something relevant to hope etc, without being depressing. Any thoughts?

FlamingoAndJohn · 15/03/2020 22:32

Thanks @userxx.
My bed linen is from Out of Eden. They are a hospitality suppliers but happily sell to regular people too.
I bought lovely big dressing gowns from there too. www.outofeden.co.uk/

Nuttyaboutnutella · 15/03/2020 22:43

We finally got around to painting our daughters bedroom today. Hopefully, I can arrange for the carpet and blinds to be fitted in the next week or two. I'm so looking forward to having my own bedroom back (DD is 9 months so has been in our room). I'll actually be able to read, in bed, with the light on - oh the luxury Grin

On a similar note, I cannot seem to find curtains I like for her room, or a children's armchair. The search continues.

I've lost my travel coffee mug. It's the Thermos King one so not cheap and actually kept my drinks warm for hours. It was quite new as well Sad
