Please help. I think XH has put a spy app on my phone

There was a software update today.
I went to delete some browser history on my phone and this pop up happened. I Googled Spysie and it's a spying app.

Does anyone know I can check it's on my phone if it's 'invisible'?
Is it something the police would take seriously?
How can I find out if it's him?
Is it even a scam to get people to panic then give the website their details including device's IME?

I'm not in physical danger but I definitely don't want him spying on my phone.

Please help. I think XH has put a spy app on my phone

Christ op, I'm not sure myself but hoping someone else can shed light.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 09/03/2020 20:35

Call women's aid to start with.

What's the history (if you want to say? Don't worry if you don't!)? Does he have history for being a stalking bell end?

HeidiHoNeighbour · 09/03/2020 20:38

XH? Does he have access to your phone?

I’d change the WiFi password for a start.
Can you change your phone number?
I don’t know about the legality of it but maybe just delete it.

SpyApp · 09/03/2020 20:42

He would have had access till recently. I drove to Women's Aid but they were shut. I didn't want to ring the emergency number so I'll try again tomorrow.

What about doing a factory reset on the phone and then installing known apps one by one

HeidiHoNeighbour · 09/03/2020 20:43

Just found this, change all of your passwords!

May I humbly suggest: myXHisastalkingtwat as a password.

HarrietThePi · 09/03/2020 20:46

Do a factory reset on your phone op.

gamerchick · 09/03/2020 20:48

Yeah it doesn't look good OP.

uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.spyzie.com

Do a factory reset. It sounds as if it's time to get rid of the snooping twat.

HarrietThePi · 09/03/2020 20:48

Found this online, but I'd do a factory reset too. I'm sorry, it's such an awful invasion of your privacy. A similar thing happened to a friend of mine.

Please help. I think XH has put a spy app on my phone

Can you go to a phone repair shop see if they can remove it properly

HarrietThePi · 09/03/2020 20:52

www.spyequipmentuk.co.uk/spy-laws/

Found some info here about the law on spying. I think it is illegal, it bloody should be.

SpyApp · 09/03/2020 20:58

Just seeing whether Norton can help

BayHorse · 09/03/2020 21:04

My ex used downloaded a similar software on my phone - as others have suggested, do a factory reset.

Sorry you're going through this OP Thanks

ladycarlotta · 09/03/2020 21:08

Make sure you document this in case it's the sort of thing you need evidence of later. Sorry, OP, this sounds so frightening and unsettling.

Jupiters · 09/03/2020 21:10

Definitely a factory reset.

SpyApp · 09/03/2020 21:15

I'm going to get proper evidence first then I'm reporting it. Bastard.

BananaChocolateLump · 09/03/2020 21:18

Smash your phone to bits then buy a new one. And report your ex if you get evidence.

gamerchick · 09/03/2020 21:24

You're not using your phone to post on here are you?

DianaT1969 · 09/03/2020 21:25

Assuming he isn't violent, get revenge with some wind up chats and searches. News to a relative that you've had a large lottery win, but you're keeping it secret. Google 'what can my husband do about his small penis'

SpyApp · 09/03/2020 21:35

Not using my phone for this no.

OP posts:
GladAllOver · 09/03/2020 21:40

Changing passwords won't help. You must do a factory reset. Then use new passwords.

MoreCoffeeNeeded · 09/03/2020 21:49

Yes dont remove it until the police have seen so they can trace the account. I also imagine he will be aware that you have removed it so you will need to keep yourself safe - see if the police can help?

starfishmummy · 09/03/2020 22:01

Buy a cheap payg phone to use for now.

SpyApp · 09/03/2020 22:06

I haven't removed it yet because I want evidence. According to their website, it can't be uninstalled remotely either
