What blows your mind?

Every now and then, the whole “you are born with every egg you’ll ever ovulate” thing blows my mind. Means that my Mum also made the cells which made my twins, who were born 2 years after she died.

OP posts:
Doggodogington · 09/03/2020 17:12

That babies are born with all their teeth! In that tiny baby head!!!

mrsbyers · 09/03/2020 17:46

Space

Playdoughbum · 09/03/2020 17:47

Infinity.
It’s too big for my head.

Bringringbring12 · 09/03/2020 17:49

Cameras
A snap shot of time
Blows my brain

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 09/03/2020 17:49

That my baby is wriggling around inside of me due soon after a very tough time to conceive and multiple treatment

RoscoePColtrane · 09/03/2020 17:49

The size of whales. The fact that there are living creatures bigger than buses just lolling about in the oceans terrifies and fascinates me.

Repetitivestraininjury · 09/03/2020 18:02

That every molecule in our bodies, and all elements heavier than iron, including gold, etc, were created in a star which exploded before our sun even existed.
That evolution created a butterfly that opens its wings to display a very realistic impression of a bird of preys face as a deterrent to attack.
That we've left the EU and people are looking to BoJo for leadership.

sixsquidswimming · 09/03/2020 18:05

That people can exist one minute and then gone the next just like that and there is nothing left..just ashes.

Time travel

That pet animals (guinea pigs) can recognise the sound of a hunting bird on the radio and do their warning signal to other guinea pigs.

^ and that's just the ones we know about, there could well be even larger ones out there.

Pashazade · 09/03/2020 18:07

The fact that my body grew another human, total fricking awesome. It also blows ds's mind that my body grew him 😁

Selfsettling3 · 09/03/2020 18:12

Viruses aren’t alive. No matter how many time I try and understand it I get confused.

IntermittentParps · 09/03/2020 18:13

Really? Grin I love that.

Space and the size of it blows my mind too.

GrumpyMug2 · 09/03/2020 18:14

That there are a 150 billion stars in our galaxy and most have planets, and there are billions of galaxies in our known universe

Layoverlife · 09/03/2020 18:15

The Human Body

ShipshapeShore · 09/03/2020 18:15

Space. I just can't comprehend it so I choose not to believe in it Grin

BrieAndChilli · 09/03/2020 18:18

Wireless - that’s there’s all this data - phone calls and radio waves and things like videos and photos whizzing through the air. That I can take a photo and send it to someone but you can’t see it going it just appears on thier device!

TreacherousPissFlap · 09/03/2020 18:21

That so many people can drive. Admittedly not all to the same standard, but that so many people are able to coordinate so many different facets of their body in that way.

Yep, ours do it.

Graphista · 09/03/2020 19:48

One of mine is also

Space

I could never watch the titles to dr who as a kid freaked me the fuck out! Wasn’t until I was much older that I learned that feeling was the true definition of “awe”

On a lighter note

The incestuousness of the American entertainment industry, 6 degrees of separation is rare there’s often only 1-3. Every time I wiki someone it’s barely any links to another actor you would not link them with at all and quite often the blood relations astound me.

Asmuchuseas · 09/03/2020 19:57

Another space one here too. Like it's this huge, vast thing in the sky and we don't know EXACTLY what is out there.

heidbuttsupper · 09/03/2020 20:01

Death

Likethebattle · 09/03/2020 20:28

How babies are made? One cell from the mother and one from the father combine and boom!

Sprigware · 09/03/2020 20:34

Yeah, I find @Repetitivestraininjury’s third point far more mind-blowing than space, time travel, and evolution combined. Alas.

eurochick · 09/03/2020 20:42

How you make new life.

The ability of the human body to heal itself. You can slice it with a knife and it will put itself back together, often without help, sometime with a bit of sewing to hold it in place.

forkfun · 09/03/2020 20:48

That race doesn't exist scientifically.
