@HarrietThePi , yes there's Fíadh, girl's name. Look up the pronunciation.

Footle · 05/03/2020 22:44

@HarrietThePi , sorry, you said a male name.

I like DD’s name but kind of wish I’d named her one of the above (especially as one of her name sakes has turned out to be a back stabbing dick) but am very happy with DS’s name, shame not to have DS2 to have used one of the above

Sarahlou252 · 05/03/2020 22:50

I adore Irish names. Orlaith, Caoimhe, Aoife, Niamh. But without a scrap of Irish in either family I felt totally unable to do it. Irish names are so beautiful.

NewDOOFUSfor20 · 05/03/2020 22:53

Hector. DH loved it but I hated it....seems to have grown on me a lot over the years. We have a Cody instead, he suits his name but could have rocked Hector.

Shamazing · 05/03/2020 23:01

Murran.

Daffodil21 · 05/03/2020 23:03

Olivia or Charles. We were stupid enough to name a baby early on

thegreylady · 05/03/2020 23:20

Harriet
Ruth
Mary

James
Morgan
Gideon

Butterfly02 · 05/03/2020 23:23

Happy with all my name choices (dc seem happy too), names that I still like:
William,
Noah,
Lucy.

Krazynights34 · 05/03/2020 23:26

Isaac - never had a boy

Georgiana
Clara (DH said no)
Harriet ((DH said no)
Joy (didn’t have enough DC)

FrenchBoule · 05/03/2020 23:27

Love Scandinavian names.

Lars,Sven,Erik,Thorsten.

Astrid,Dagmar, Brigitte.

Lucy,Lydia,Alexandra,Caroline,Isabel

Felix(stupid MIL said can’t use cat’s food name), Harold, Jonathan.

DH vetoed most of my chosen names. He named DC1, I named DC2 after telling him he can’t choose all names.

icebearforpresident · 05/03/2020 23:33

Martha

We have 2 girls but if we had a boy DH and seriously considered Sterling before deciding we weren’t brave enough and settling on Hayden instead. In the (very) unlikely event we ever have a boy I would go for it now.

CuriousCapricorn · 05/03/2020 23:35

jurgen I have an Oscar and a Lucy. Also an Oliver nn Ollie.

Other names I liked were Dylan, Caleb and Sebastian for a boy and Lola, Avery and Rosie for a girl.

Thistles24 · 05/03/2020 23:39

I love the names we chose, and wanted traditional names for our DC (having lived my life with a non traditional name!) but ones I loved were:
Morven (for a girl)
Darroch or Rannoch for a boy.

BillyAndTheSillies · 05/03/2020 23:46

I've got two DS. If I'd have had a DD, she'd have been Petra.

Didn't get to use Ari, Sebastian or Cosmo for boys.

The boy names I have suit my DS's so well. But I wish I'd gone for Ari for DS2 as I think that would have suited him better, he's only five months though so plenty of time to grow more in to his own name.

BedraggledBlitz · 05/03/2020 23:47

Frank. I love the name I gave my son, but if he had a brother I'd love to have used this. No chance of another baby so I regularly try to persuade pregnant women to use this name.

bank100 · 05/03/2020 23:47

Wolf
Shelbie

alphajuliet123 · 05/03/2020 23:53

I loved loved loved Paloma but it didn't sound right with our surname, and this was before Paloma Faith so felt a bit out there - husband said a straight no to that one.

I love my daughter's name and it really suits her, but if I had another girl I'd go for Saskia or Orla.

Hollyhobbi · 06/03/2020 00:02

Just curious if all the posters saying Irish names are Irish or have Irish connections or relatives? I love the name Niamh or Siofra or Eithne. Eithne is the singers
Enya's real name but they pronounce it differently in Donegal (as Enya) like they do a lot of other names! Also like Cathal, Cian, Diarmuid (Dermot in English) or Cormac but I have two girls!

UnitedRoad · 06/03/2020 00:03

Freya, and Scarlet (not Scarlett)

Hollyhobbi · 06/03/2020 00:07

Also I would have thought of Astrid as being a popular Scandinavian name so curious to see how popular it seems to be in the UK.

HollowLegss · 06/03/2020 00:21

Hero.

Just wasn't brave enough to use it, although I did still end up with pretty uncommon names for my twin daughters.

LapsedVeganAcademic · 06/03/2020 06:32

I have always loved some of the names in the Nigerian Christian communities: Praise, Bright, Blessing, Presence etc. But neither DH or I have any African heritage or cultural connection, so it would have sounded a bit awkward.
