What normal thing are you shit at?

When my brother was learning to drive, he drove better in reverse - I have no idea why, or if it's a "thing", but he was utterly shit at driving forwards! 😂 obviously he can do it now.

I can't use a curling tong, or blow dry my hair using a brush & drier. I can't coordinate my hands to do it. In my mind, I feel like I'm going to look in the mirror & look like Farah Fawcett, but every time I look like Jimmy Saville.

What normal thing do you struggle to do?

I can't do my bra up from the back. Apparently I do it the slutty way which is to sizzle it round and pull it up.
I can't screw tops back on properly, they are always wonky.

thismeansnothing · 05/03/2020 10:46

Clingfilm.
Everytime it either tears and ends up a shitty peice I can do naff all with or resticks itself all together again.

Mrsjayy · 05/03/2020 11:06

I have clingfilm older than children because i throw rolls in drawersin a rage ! Hate the stuff .

namechangenumber2 · 05/03/2020 11:10

I'm rubbish at doing my own hair, I'd love to be able to plait it but can't and as I have no daughters I don't have anyone who can do it for me!!

SedentaryCat · 05/03/2020 11:27

I can cook fairly well, but don't ask me to boil an egg. Just can't do it. They either come out too snotty or so rubberised you could play squash with them.

Rebmethewrongway · 05/03/2020 11:29

folding, i just can’t do it

Firecracker2019 · 05/03/2020 11:33

Make a decent omelette or poach an egg in a pan of boiling water.

RiftGibbon · 05/03/2020 11:39

So many things.
Walking without tripping
Doing anything to hair beyond brushing
Not dropping food down myself
Drawing a straight line (even with a ruler)
Writing in pen without getting pen on me
Writing in a straight line
Driving
Swimming
Meal planning
Remembering names, dates, personal details
Spatial awarenesses
Make up (I used to be quite good years ago)
Being patient with annoying challenging people.

I'm sure there are many more, but remembering things is also one of my grey areas.Grin

BearSoFair · 05/03/2020 11:41

Putting my hair up. I can do a ponytail and that's about it, everything else looks a mess! When DD was younger I was fine doing different styles on her but can't do it at all on my own head.

I can't ride a bike. I'm in my 40s. I tried learning as a child, in my teens, a little in my 20s, and a few years ago with DH and DS1 helping. Nope, can't do it.

Camomila · 05/03/2020 11:52

looking at directions
building flat pack furniture
I'm also not very good at telling if it's hot or cold - eg, have to take DC temperature as can't tell from forehead, sometimes go out myself in wrong amount of layers

Chlam0 · 05/03/2020 11:58

Me too @camomila

It’s lack of spatial reasoning. Usually means that you’re above average in verbal or numerical reasoning.

frankie001 · 05/03/2020 11:58

I can’t whistle!

AudTheDeepMinded · 05/03/2020 12:10

@antisupermum so you are essentially like Mrs Doyle stepping off a window ledge, on an escalator?

amusedbush · 05/03/2020 12:59

Ironing. I actually iron new creases into the fabric.

I don't even own one now.

antisupermum · 05/03/2020 13:12

@Thelnebriati Grin That is uncanny!!

glitteringfishy · 05/03/2020 13:24

Opening packaging without ripping it to shreds!

Wotrewelookinat · 05/03/2020 13:27

I can’t carry liquids in cups or bowls without making a mess, however hard I try. Can’t carry a tray of teas/coffees at work, bowls of soup etc. They just splash and spill all over the place. I’ve tried concentrating hard, not concentrating at all...

Superlooper · 05/03/2020 13:33

I can't do parallel parking. I really should learn

Can't make pastry and I've given up trying

Not great at making custard or carving meat and leave that to DH if I can

CheerfulBunny · 05/03/2020 13:38

I feel better because people have already said ironing. I loathe it - it gives me the rage and I end up making things look worse rather than better. I don't understand friends who say they love it and it's relaxing etc. For me it's just anger and despair Angry

Foghead · 05/03/2020 13:40

I cannot wrap presents. They always look scrunched up and messy.

Foghead · 05/03/2020 13:42

I also can’t diet, sing or dance.
At all Sad

jackparlabane · 05/03/2020 13:45

@Wotrewelookinat I got a travel mug for this reason. I can get to a meeting and still have coffee!

I can't do buttons, and am useless with makeup beyond lipstick - I hold it still and move my mouth round it.

Brahumbug · 05/03/2020 13:57

I can't use my DHs mains Wolf drill, I am scared of it, but i dont mind the rechargeable one. Complete wimp, I knowBlush
