What normal thing are you shit at?

When my brother was learning to drive, he drove better in reverse - I have no idea why, or if it's a "thing", but he was utterly shit at driving forwards! 😂 obviously he can do it now.

I can't use a curling tong, or blow dry my hair using a brush & drier. I can't coordinate my hands to do it. In my mind, I feel like I'm going to look in the mirror & look like Farah Fawcett, but every time I look like Jimmy Saville.

What normal thing do you struggle to do?

Another person with no sense of direction. My SatNav, (called Holly), is my best friend. I need one while walking at times. I'm great at map reading though (probably because I need it!)

Make up.

Drawing and craft- but I can sew.

Cake decorating- but I can bake.

Sassanacs · 05/03/2020 07:07

Loading the dishwasher apparently... the fact my DH rearranges it every night I can only assume that I'm terrible at it Grin

popgoesperfection · 05/03/2020 07:07

Maths .. I just can't work it out, 10% of xyz, eh? 🤔
Cooking, even my 4 year old says I'm crap 😂

pussycatinboots · 05/03/2020 07:09

Remembering stuff. I was crap at remembering stuff at school and I'm no better now! Dates, chemical formulae, basic maths - no chance, and it's not through want of trying/revision etc. it just doesn't stick.
Plaits/Hair in general - CBA so I let it grow long and tie it back in a scrunchie.
Anything with a naked flame - can't use matches as i panic and drop them Shock thinking they'll burn my fingers. Got all electric cooker and never use the gas fire for the same reasons.

vhs95 · 05/03/2020 07:12

Learning to play piano - couldn't coordinate 2 hands to work at the same time but I can type really quickly.
Sense of direction coming out of shops in malls - usually turn back the way I came.

pinkprosseco · 05/03/2020 07:15

Agree with lots of these so none of us should worry about what we can't do Smile more common than I thought:
Parallel parking
Google maps (can't understand which way to go and when it says 'head north' WTF!)
Curling tongs or straightening
Applying lipstick
Swimming unless in a heated pool doing breast stroke
Dieting

TroysMammy · 05/03/2020 07:21

FleetwoodMacMummy have you tried using the grill to cook the top part of an omelette instead of flipping it over? It's a game changer.

Dontjudgeme101 · 05/03/2020 07:39

Life in general!

lolaflores · 05/03/2020 08:11

Doing up bras from behind. Always clip them in front then swizzle them round. Times tables past 6. Left and right...have to check my hands.

Very good at wrapping presents.

SockQueen · 05/03/2020 08:13

Make up/hair. I've no creative skill and don't care enough to learn properly. Have a very low maintenance hair style, short so I don't have to tie it up, and very rarely wear make up.

Mrsjayy · 05/03/2020 08:15

Wash glass i just leave the windows smear y, Dh bought a window hoover doodah just left an even distribution of smear Confused He washes them now

Gotthetshirt23 · 05/03/2020 08:19

mouldyoldonkey · 05/03/2020 08:22

Parallel parking. ESPECIALLY in reverse!

schnubbins · 05/03/2020 08:23

Maths here also.Just looking at numbers gives me the heebie jeebies. My brain just shuts down if i have to do anything other than add , subtract or multiply.I'm good at languages though.

Purplecatshopaholic · 05/03/2020 08:25

Grating cheese. I have shredded my thumb more times than I care to remember. I now buy the ready-grated bags ...
I am also rubbish at life admin as I have the attention span of a gnat!

QueenOfOversharing · 05/03/2020 08:29

Just remembered one - it's a bit aged now 😬

Step class. I couldn't follow it at all. To the point that the instructor told me just to stand on my step before as I was a danger to other ppl. And myself.

From that, also dancing. I watched something where ppl were learning some moves then putting them together. I couldn't understand how. Like, honestly, it's some kind of witchypoo magic.

I have only just learnt to dry my hair at 51. My new hairdresser showed me how to do it without a brush and I can now look make my hair look good in 15 minutes. Life changing.

Icouldstillbejoseph · 05/03/2020 08:30

Simple mental arithmetic

BananaChocolateLump · 05/03/2020 08:39

I can't effectively clean hard floors. I mean I vaccum them and mop them but it never looks done properly you know?

sar302 · 05/03/2020 08:40

Picturing stuff in my head. Can't do it. When people say "imagine that chest of drawers over there." Or "Can you picture me with curls?" No idea. It's just blank in my head.
I have no idea why I can't do it but others can!

H1978 · 05/03/2020 08:44

Being able to tell my left from my right Confused that’s why I never learnt to drive!

weegiemum · 05/03/2020 09:26

I'm GREAT at following maps and directions but crap at driving, failed my test 3 tikes.

pooopypants · 05/03/2020 09:46

Remembering simple things.... I know where I am, and where I want to be. But the bit in the middle gets all fuzzy and it's beyond annoying

pooopypants · 05/03/2020 09:50

On the subject of eyeliner: have you tried the pen type instead of a pencil or little farty wand thing? I've found I'm much better with that kind than any other. Last time I bought one, I found one for about £1.70 in Superdrug

antisupermum · 05/03/2020 10:40

Escalators. No idea why as I'm a fairly young, stable individual but my brain goes into panic mode when stepping on to escalators and I need at least one or two practice runs before I will put my foot down and glide away Grin
