Always Dip Dabs I think, but DH says they were Dib Dabs!

dementedpixie · 03/03/2020 18:42

It's always been dib dab to me too

nameymcnamechangeagain · 03/03/2020 18:43

I’ve certainly always called them dib dabs

wallflowersunited · 03/03/2020 18:44

Yes, maybe dib dabs. Sherbet fountains were best though.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 03/03/2020 18:45

Definitely Dib Dabs in the 70s/80s.

Puddlelane123 · 03/03/2020 18:46

Always Dip Dabs in our house!

Asimovsfutureishere2020 · 03/03/2020 18:47

You are being unreasonable mentioning them as now I want one. And yes, sherbet fountains were superior (if you measure by how well the sherbet 'bit' your throat and then 'fizzled' but the lollipop in a dibdab was nicer than the liquorice in a fountain.

I have studied this intensively and will stand by my research.

Ozziewozzie · 03/03/2020 18:47

Me too @balonzz

beethebee · 03/03/2020 18:49

Dib Dab is what I remember. I'm old.

Frlrlrubert · 03/03/2020 18:50

Dib dabs to me

IHaveBrilloHair · 03/03/2020 18:51

Always Dip dabs, it just got misread as dib dabs and then people think they used to be called that.
I often see people call marshmallows, marshmellows, not a brand name as such, but same thing.

BeesandGees · 03/03/2020 18:52

Both exist, different companies make them - Dib Dabs made by Swizzels Matlow, Dip Dabs made by Bassets. I remember Dib Dabs, child of the 70s!

WinterCat · 03/03/2020 18:52

I thought they were dib dabs as well. Dip dabs just sounds wrong.

ItsGoingTibiaK · 03/03/2020 18:52

@FeltCarrot

The Swizzels version was called a Double Dip.

Iwantedthat · 03/03/2020 18:53

Mandela affect yes! I still think it was NETFLEX not Netflix,.but flix makes more sense ...

SoMuchToBits · 03/03/2020 18:54

They were Dip-dabs.

SoMuchToBits · 03/03/2020 18:55

I expect because you dip the lolly in then dab some sherbet onto it.

akmum18 · 03/03/2020 18:55

I remember dib dabs and just had to check dd sweet tub to see they’re actually dip dabs! Confused

CocoLoco87 · 03/03/2020 18:56

Definitely dib-dabs and I grew up in the 90s.

Bluetrews25 · 03/03/2020 19:00

Dib dabs
I was old enough to notice in 70s.

Drogonssmile · 03/03/2020 19:01

I thought they were Dib dabs.

Stabbitha · 03/03/2020 19:02

The amount of people that think should've is should of, makes me think this is just a misheard thing from the way it comes off the tongue.

Like hard hat area sounds like hard hat hairier

ChewChewIsMySpiritAnimal · 03/03/2020 19:03

They're still dip dabs... Had one yesterday Grin
