Check your delivery slots if you order your grocery shopping online.

I get my Morrisons shopping delivered every Saturday and to ensure a decent pick of time slots, I order the minimum on a Wednesday and then just edit the order the day before delivery.

I've just received an email from Morrisons advising me that 'due to a much higher than usual demand', they're running out of delivery slots fast. So I went to book and got one of the last available Saturday slots, even though today's only Monday Shock

I suspect it may be Coronavirus related panic buying (although I suppose they might just be short staffed). Either way you might all want to check availability a bit earlier than you normally would.

I do the same (weekly delivery every Sat which I start on the Wed but we do Sainsburys).

CBA now but will check the slots first thing.

And yes I imagine its CV related.

The thought of not being able to get a gammon joint for Sunday dinner made me spring into action Blush

Loads in my area!

If all else fails I can eat my way through the freezer, we've just been for a Costco shop 😁

WorraLiberty · 02/03/2020 22:00

Glenthebattleostrich when the delivery van arrives, I normally just send my boys out to eat their way through it Grin

It saves a lot of time and unpacking.

Ocado emailed a few days ago with the same message. And there's loads out of stock, like tins, rice, pasta, medicines etc

GiantKitten · 02/03/2020 22:07

I had an email from Ocado on Friday advising that delivery slots were getting scarce.

I’ve just been able to book one for Thu lunchtime (I’m in, luckily) but Tue & Wed had all gone - weekends must be really tight Shock

Loads of Tesco slots for tomorrow and over the next week.

WorraLiberty · 02/03/2020 22:07

Actually I didn't think about the out of stock side of it.

Perhaps I shouldn't leave it until Friday to edit my order.

I wonder if they'll disappear fast once people realise they can't get a slot with their usual supermarket?

I know if I can't get a Morrisons slot because I've forgotten, I'll check Asda. They normally have more drivers in this area.

Agreed- Tesco slits aren’t available until Thursday and Ocado sent me the same email as Morrison’s sent you.

Wavingnotdrown1ng · 02/03/2020 22:17

Or event ‘slots’ ...

FragrantLikeRice · 02/03/2020 22:18

I have morrisons delivery and loads of slots available here from Wednesday onwards... do yours come from local store or the Nuneaton hub? Mine is the latter which may explain the difference if you get direct from store?

LaurieFairyCake · 02/03/2020 22:19

Ocado has every slot available from Thursday

Clearly the middle classes aren't panicking yet WinkGrin

WorraLiberty · 02/03/2020 22:22

Mine doesn't come from the store but a warehouse/hub not too far away.

I wonder if Waitrose customers are panic buying pink gin and Prosecco? Grin

It does seem a bit busier e.g. usually you can get a next day slot midweek but all of Tuesday and most of Wednesday is full. However there are still plenty for later in the week and the weekend. Can't get cheap ibuprofen though! Or hand gel or milton. Plenty of soap and paracetamol.

Daphine2004 · 02/03/2020 22:41

I got the same email. I do the same, book a slot and then edit until the deadline - think I’ll do my shop and use the one click add button.

I’ve reserved a slot each week until the end of the month!

WarmSausageTea · 02/03/2020 22:58

My first thought is that people will want delivery to reduce their exposure to other people - if other people’s to them, if that makes sense.

If people want to panic buy, wouldn’t they high-tail it to the shop and stock up?

Interesting times...

AnyFucker · 02/03/2020 23:00

I usually do my order Sunday evening for delivery Tuesday

This week there is nothing until Wednesday

WorraLiberty · 02/03/2020 23:04

I was wondering that but I suppose if they don't drive, or they're just panic buying say 2 weeks shopping all at once, I suppose it makes sense (to them anyway) to get it delivered.

I just wonder how many 'missing items' there's going to be.

OP posts:
WarmSausageTea · 02/03/2020 23:22

Yes, that’s a good point about driving... for someone who doesn’t like it, I clearly take it for granted. Blush

TonytheDog · 02/03/2020 23:31

I live in the middle of nowhere plus 25000 miles and Ocado are (the only supermarket that reliably delivers) usually available the next ish day. I just checked and the first available delivery is Friday! That's never happened before. And, more importantly they've run out of Ambrosia creamed rice Shock.

TonytheDog · 02/03/2020 23:35

Also ...... I did a very rare trip into 'town' at DD's insistence that we stick up on 70% alcohol hand sanitiser stuff and it's all gone! No ship in a normal sized town had any. So, I bought 18 bottles of cheap Vodka from Aldi.

Aridane · 02/03/2020 23:38

@GiantKitten

Must be area specific as no,such notice when Imgo on Ocado, whether via app or website

PickAChew · 02/03/2020 23:40

Meh. Booked a sainsburys order for tomorrow morning, on Sunday evening. Could have had a slot today, if I wanted.
