What size would you guess I am?

Today I've seen a photo of me and I feel I look much bigger than I thought I was. Dh thinks I look fine. I'm wondering if my brain is just completely unable to identify what is normal anymore.

What dress size (UK) would you think I am and where on the bmi - healthy - overweight or obese?

BMI is not a load of crap. Everyone says that to make themselves feel better about their weight.

The only people who have more muscle than fat and therefore skew the BMI calc are professional athletes.

12

AlexaAmbidextra · 29/02/2020 17:29

Ah, I get it.

Size 8/10/12 - you’re all lovely
Size 14/16 - unkind/you live in a world of hate/not in the nature of the thread (whatever that means)

😂

lilgreen · 29/02/2020 17:30

Is there a second photo?

Lobsterquadrille2 · 29/02/2020 17:31

The first photograph, size 12 because of the angle. Not flattering. Second photograph definitely a 10, and you have a lovely figure! No need to lose any weight at all.

user1471449295 · 29/02/2020 17:31

Size 14. BMI 26-27

Quicklittlenamechange · 29/02/2020 17:31

OP I have very long legs and 32FF boobs .
Probably just an unflattering pic.
Have you got one front facing?

JollyGiraffe12 · 29/02/2020 17:31

I would think 12 or 10 if you were quite short

TheMagiciansMewTwo · 29/02/2020 17:31

It's a very unflattering photo. You look overweight and about a size 14. But it's also a difficult photo to judge because of the angles.

KahlanRahl · 29/02/2020 17:31

Gosh I wouldn't have thought that you had a healthy BMI from that photo. It must be an unflattering photo I guess. You look a bit wide in that picture.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 29/02/2020 17:32

Did your DH take the photo? You fucked up here OP Wink- you should have said something like "AIBU to think my DH takes shit photos as I'm actually a size 10-12 but feel the pic makes me look bigger?"

Then everyone would have said YANBU, your DH does take shit photos (and horizontal stripes on arms always have that effect anyway) and your top is fucking fabulous Smile

I don't think anyone then would have said you're a fat 18 and descended into fisticuffs Grin

AlphaJura · 29/02/2020 17:33

Not a great pic. It's hard to get scale and perspective, but I'd say 12? You seem quite in proportion and have a small waist.

lilgreen · 29/02/2020 17:33

Where is the second photo? I must be blind.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 29/02/2020 17:35

I'm really surprised no one has yet done that classic "I don't mean to be rude "

Or have they and I've missed it?

Poetryinaction · 29/02/2020 17:37

I can't believe people think 8-10. I am size 10 and I'm 5'3 and 8.5 stone. That OP photo definitely looks a few sizes bigger than me. Lovely figure but curvy.

lilgreen · 29/02/2020 17:38

Ok so there is no second photo!

WanderingTrolley1 · 29/02/2020 17:38

I’d say a size 16. Just within/just over normal bmi.

ReturnofSaturn · 29/02/2020 17:41

I would never have guessed a 10 at all.
I'm a solid 10 and weigh 53kg. 5 foot 4

You look banging in that black dress though OP!

SureTry · 29/02/2020 17:42

I guessed size 14 but that's because I'm a size 10 and my breast are non existent (thanks kids 😭) you have a lovely shape but the way the ridges are in the jeans makes them look like they're too tight.

I've seen plenty of curvy 10/12 women so I believe you when you say that's the size you are.

DishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 29/02/2020 17:43

It's an unflattering photo because the gun and it's shadow are hiding your waist, so it looks like you waist and belly are a lot bigger than they are because of the angle you are standing. Your back is acting as the edge of your waist.

I would have said a 12-14 based on the photo, but I can tell it's unflattering does that make sense?

However there is no way in hell you are a 16/18! Or obese ffs! Ask how much I weigh/age threads always have people being ridiculous. I think it's to make a point about obesity in the UK/vanity sizing, and how they are obviously so young and slim. You absolutely do not look obese or a size 16/18!

theendoftheendoftheend · 29/02/2020 17:45

I'd have said a 14 based on the photo. It really depends on where you shop though as a 10 in one shop is 14 in others, sizes seem to vary so much.
Also, it depends on your frame which is hard to gauge from the picture.

nonamemummy · 29/02/2020 17:47

I’d say 14-16 and probably ‘overweight’

Daisydoesnt · 29/02/2020 17:49

OP you have a cracking figure; defined waist, flat tummy, nice high bum, good bust. Don't stress about an unflattering photo (it is taken from a horrible angle).

What I find so weird about sizing is that I am just an inch taller than you (5ft 6) but weigh 8 stone and yet I'm an 8 top and bottom. I don't have any bust to speak of but nor am I broad across the shoulders/ hips. Isn't it odd that there's nearly two stone between us yet only one dress size?

Don't let a crap photo get you down.

ILLBESUZIE · 29/02/2020 17:50

I'm shocked at people saying you look overweight. You look a healthy size with an amazing figure. No wonder people are so fucked up about their weight with comments like that

userabcname · 29/02/2020 17:51

My initial thought was 12 in the first pic but 10 in the second - you look great, lovely trim waist! Good to see the vipers out - I KNEW someone would say you were obese! Some people are absolutely mad; it's like those threads where posters claim they only eat half a cucumber stick every 2 days or guess a photo of a clearly middle-aged woman is actually "about 84, maybe 82, not sure in that light." I guess there are a lot of supermodels on mn - who'd have thought!

Splodgetastic · 29/02/2020 17:52

You look about the same size as me. I’m a 10, weight just over nine stone and 5ft5, but the photo isn’t the best one. I have variable success on photos too!
