What size would you guess I am?

Today I've seen a photo of me and I feel I look much bigger than I thought I was. Dh thinks I look fine. I'm wondering if my brain is just completely unable to identify what is normal anymore.

What dress size (UK) would you think I am and where on the bmi - healthy - overweight or obese?

Oh I've got the classic section apron. Four sections so inevitable. I hated it for years but I genuinely don't care anymore. It's 24 today as my eldest is 24 today.

Happy birthday ugly belly 😁

Runbikeswim · 01/03/2020 00:51

I was going to say size 8-10

DropYourSword · 01/03/2020 00:53

You have a lovely figure. Look like a size 12.

Anyone saying size 16 or over need a serious word with themselves!!

Valkadin · 01/03/2020 03:48

Dress size is kind of irrelevant as it varies so much, taking a tape measure is where it’s really at .

Russellbrandshair · 01/03/2020 08:20

Just have to write on one of these threads to try and boost someone's confidence and get ripped to shreds

What rubbish. You don’t have to be unkind about other women’s body types to “boost the confidence” of someone else and you damn well know it. Your “confidence boost” was unkind about women with small breast, small bums and who might be naturally slim. But you know that and are backtracking now.

Russellbrandshair · 01/03/2020 08:22

And why do you keep going about about people who are ill and a “bag of bones”? You’ve mentioned that several times. Have some sensitivity- there might be women on chemo reading this

Jumperlover · 01/03/2020 08:40

I’m sorry but there’s no way you look a size ten

kingkuta · 01/03/2020 09:16

I think the problem is that in the photo your clothes look too tight and unless you are teeny tiny this makes you look bigger than you are.

I know how hard it is to find tops that flatter bigger breasts (I'm a 32ff) but believe me when I say v and scoop necks are your friend here. High necks can make you look heavier and a bit matronly

Re the jeans, they look really ill fitting, too tight across the stomach, hips and thighs. I know you said they're the right size because you can fit your hands down the back but this isn't the case, it just means they dont fit properly. You need to shop around for jeans that fit the waist and hips. Jeans like Levi curve are great for women with a big difference in hip to waist size.

Lostintransfixation · 01/03/2020 09:18

I am also curious what size posters are who claim op can't be a 10-12. My size 8 relative groups anyone size 12 to 32 as the same. To her it's all overweight. OP has a flat stomach and defined waist but wider hips/ rounder thighs. This doesn't mean that she's not a 10/12 to me. So what's driving these comments that she can't be a 10/12? Seems curious...

Beautiful3 · 01/03/2020 09:19

12-14 but that's difficult to judge from one photograph. Why don't you weigh yourself and check your bmi online? If you are a little overweight, you can lose it.

Hauskat · 01/03/2020 09:22

You are an hourglass so you look curvy but you are slim if you see what I mean. I def would not think otherwise. I envy your body - it’s like mine before I had kids! I would say a size ten would fit your waist but might be tight around your bum and bust because curves.

thickwoollytights · 01/03/2020 09:25

So what's driving these comments that she can't be a 10/12? Seems curious...

Of course she could be a size 10. However she doesn't look a size 10 to me because she looks bigger than me and I'm a size 12. That was my rationale.

But as I've said already - she looks lovely whatever size she is

Tbh - sizing is so random, isn't it? It can vary so much from shop to shop. I've had to buy a size 16 in primark, before now 🤷‍♀️ - I was still me Grin

BUNNIESandBISCUITS · 01/03/2020 09:27

Just popping in to say your figure is lovely. I'd love to have a shape like you!

BunsyGirl · 01/03/2020 09:39

@Neednewwellies I am glad that I have found someone like me. I am 11.7 stone, 5ft4 but wear a size 10/12. No one believes how much I weigh!

m0therofdragons · 01/03/2020 09:51

@Kingkuta I went for high neck as I was running round and rolling on the floor trying to beat the kids at laser tag. I rarely wear that combo but I've definitely decided the jeans are the wrong cut. I've had them for many years but they are "boyfriend" cut - my curves mean I definitely don't have a boy figure so no idea why I bought them. I wanted to wear my trusty Fat Face jeans but couldn't find them Grin

kingkuta · 01/03/2020 09:58

Lol m0therofdragons yes definitely more appropriate for rolling round the floor with the kids Grin
It's so hard to find flattering tops when you have bigger breasts. I remember my fil commenting once on a night out about how I'd piled the pounds on. I hadnt, and was less than 8 stone at the time but the cut of the top made me look miles bigger. I'm really careful about it now when I shop.

kingkuta · 01/03/2020 09:59

Anyway I'm glad to see you survived the onslaught OP. Bloody brave to post a photo up here!!

Moomin8 · 01/03/2020 10:20

People look bigger in photos.

ClientQueen · 01/03/2020 10:36

On the topic of jeans, next hypercurve are great if you have an hourglass figure and they never gape at the back

Misbeehived · 01/03/2020 10:58

Have I missed the reveal? For what it’s worth I’d guess Size 12, attractive figure healthy BMI. Politely, the photo is taken from an odd angle in what I imagine aren’t your nicest clothes so I doubt you’ll get accurate views.

Misbeehived · 01/03/2020 11:09

Gah! Should have RTFT!

Grumpasaurus · 01/03/2020 11:13

Some of ya'll are crazy!

I am actually a size 16 and obese (though less so each week, thanks to myfitnesspal!and a new bike), and can assure you a close up photo of me would have a fair few more rolls!

Op, in answer to your original question, the first photo is shitty and makes you look bigger than you are. It's also a cool, but unflattering, top.

The second photo of you in the dress- damn girl! Envy!

m0therofdragons · 01/03/2020 11:27

Thank you @Grumpasaurus
Also hurrah for my fitness pal - I lost 1.5 stone using that and have kept it off because I've actually learned what a normal portion is. Good luck xx

DownWhichOfLate · 01/03/2020 12:18

@ClientQueen - I have a 27” waist and 38” hips. Would the Next jeans work for me? Thanks!

ClientQueen · 01/03/2020 12:21

@DownWhichOfLate definitely worth a try. The pretty little thing shape range is meant to be great too but I haven't tried them yet
