What size would you guess I am?

Today I've seen a photo of me and I feel I look much bigger than I thought I was. Dh thinks I look fine. I'm wondering if my brain is just completely unable to identify what is normal anymore.

What dress size (UK) would you think I am and where on the bmi - healthy - overweight or obese?

About size 12. Certainly no more than 12 on bottom half. Would love your figure - slim waist and curvy!

Thenextstorm · 29/02/2020 20:00

Isn't it sad our perceptions of a perfectly healthy lovely figure is skewed because of the skeletal figures we idolise in the media. I'd rather look like you any day OP than a bag of bones with no tits or an arse. Well done on your weight loss you look amazing!!!

Well aren't you a delight Hmm perhaps just read that back and see how that might sound to many people?

Neednewwellies · 29/02/2020 20:01

Just saw how many pages there are! Can’t believe people saying you’re a 16 or 18! Shock

Qwerty543 · 29/02/2020 20:02

I'd have said 12 bordering on 14 tbh. I'm around the same weight and only slightly taller and am a size 10 and I look much slimmer.

bobstersmum · 29/02/2020 20:04

Since when was a size 14-16 fat or something to be ashamed of? People saying I can't believe some posters were so insulting as to say the op is anything more than a 12! Isn't the average British dress size supposed to be 14-16? No one as far as I've seen said the op looked fat, or bad in any way, she asked for perception of size from one (bad, and badly cropped) photo.

Nowgimmeagin · 29/02/2020 20:05

Dont know but massively jealous of your flat stomach!

Neednewwellies · 29/02/2020 20:07

I think it’s very difficult to tell. I’m also 5ft 5 and a size 12. But I weight 11st7. Yet I don’t think I look much bigger than you and I’m not that much bigger dress size in that I easily fit seize 12. But according to BMI I’m obese. 🤷‍♀️ I don’t feel obese but maybe my perception is skewed.

BlancheDuBlah · 29/02/2020 20:08

I don't see many women in the media these days lacking curves (in the original sense)

But you keep telling yourself what you need to Wereeaglesdare (sic).

TrickyKid · 29/02/2020 20:10

14-16 but it's hard to tell if we don't know your hight.

EmmaC78 · 29/02/2020 20:11

I thought a 14-16 in the first photo OP but it would be rare for a photo taken at that terrible angle to reflect someones true size.

changemynamechangemynamewhen · 29/02/2020 20:12

I would have guessed 10-12. There is no way you look a 14-16. Women on MN are fucking nuts when it comes to weight

Absofuckinglutley

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 29/02/2020 20:12

It's difficult to see well because you are side on, so it's hard to see how wide your bottom half is, but 14-16?

AllMouthandTrousers · 29/02/2020 20:13

I wouldve said 14 on the first photo and a bit overweight like myself, but im taller

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 29/02/2020 20:13

Just to add I deliberately haven't read the thread because i didn't want to be swayed by what others said.

WorraLiberty · 29/02/2020 20:13

Neednewwellies, dress sizes can vary massively according to the shop or even just the style of clothing.

I think it's more sensible to listen to your BMI.

Russellbrandshair · 29/02/2020 20:19

I'd rather look like you any day OP than a bag of bones with no tits or an arse

This is a vile thing to say. Plenty of women are naturally slim and have small breasts. What a horrible comment

DownWhichOfLate · 29/02/2020 20:22

@Neednewwellies - go by your measurements rather than dress size. What’s your waist measurement and hips?

Neednewwellies · 29/02/2020 20:22

@WorraLiberty, yes of course. I’m a 12 in most high street such as Oasis, Warehouse, Zara etc. I can fit in a 10 in M&S and some Next stuff. I also exercise 4 or 5 days a week and most days do my 10k steps on my Fitbit. If my BMI was telling me I was a bit overweight then maybe I’d accept that but I don’t feel obese. I posted the pictures because I take them regularly to keep me on track. I think my body shape is very similar to friends who are 2stone lighter. They agree. Maybe it’s my boobs. 36E. 🤷‍♀️

Turquoisesea · 29/02/2020 20:23

The OP has already said she is 5ft 5, usually a size 12 and 10 stone. That is exactly my height, weight and dress size. I look very similar to the OPs size, eg bigger hips and bust but slim waist. I cannot believe people saying size 18 or overweight. Reminds my of my SIL who is a tiny 4-6 and I’m sure she thinks Im huge but in the ‘real world’ I would say I’m fairly average!

Neednewwellies · 29/02/2020 20:23

@DownWhichOfLate, good plan. I’ll measure and be back!

MiniGuinness · 29/02/2020 20:24

16

ALongHardWinter · 29/02/2020 20:25

I'd guess a size 12.

Bluntness100 · 29/02/2020 20:29

She's far more plausibly a size 18 than a size 10, let's be honest here

No she’s not. I thought she looked a ten waist up but more like a fourteen from hips down. And indeedThe jeans are a twelve and seem to be pulling over the hips. Classic pear. Not an eighteen.

Neednewwellies · 29/02/2020 20:30

@DownWhichOfLate, ok; my waist is 77cm and my hips are 97cm.

auslass · 29/02/2020 20:33

14-16?
