Do you get sad that you aren't young anymore?

I'm 41 and life in many ways is better for me than 20 years ago. Yet I can't help having spells of overwhelming sadness that I'm not young anymore. It's ridiculous I know and 40s is not old and I get that every year is a privilege not afforded to everyone.

Yet I see that society values youthful looks. At my age you project more of a mature, mum image. Which is what I am of course but I'm also fiesty, passionate, sexual, silly etc

Yes definitely. It's normal op. I remember my mum in her 40's (she would be 84 now) pulling her face around in the mirror and talking about getting it fixed. She was the least vain person I know and barely wore make up even in the stripey 80's!! I'm 42 and sometimes I literally don't know who is looking back at me in the mirror. My face is lined and baggy now to me even though I'm not in bad shape and look ok "for my age" (hate that phrase). I take snapchat photos of myself (don't send them anywhere) to remjnd me of what I used to look like!!!

But I remember thinking 30 was the end of the world and actually I looked beautiful and young so I suspect it is one of those things that as you look back it wasn't as bad as you thought!!
