It turns out that MNHQ don't understand the difference between facts and opinions, and I can't respectfully challenge opinions that are solidly contradicted by science...so time to go our seperate ways.

It would be nice of there was a place on the internet for facts, but I suspect if there ever was its now gone for ever.

1/2 the worlds population are dimwits!

I think you mean below IQ 100 there.

IME, most of us are dimwits in some things and geniuses at others.

People's behaviour on MN threads is very interesting. And nothing new that people don't read them or post misinformation.

The thing is that of all the issues to lose one's shit over, flu vs cold is probably one of the oddest ones. Who cares? Apart from M3lon...

Pots and kettles there Birdie. That's a pretty nasty personal attack you've posted there and I notice you called M3lon a bitch on the other thread too.

BiBiBirdie · 25/02/2020 14:07

Oh and for everyone else as their comment to me was one which was deleted by HQ, I did not say about fatalities, or false info, or rape theory (in fact no one did) or Mental Health, the thing which invoked an abusive response from flouncey OP was that someone once told me if you had a cold you would jump out of bed for money on the lawn, a flu would mean you couldn't.
I was called thick and all sorts for that.
Clearly HQ agreed that OP was needlessly rude. Sadly the OP of that thread is just as bad.

Deadringer · 25/02/2020 14:08

I have cancelled pancake Tuesday because I heard you can catch flu from eggs. Maybe you could just confirm that for me before you go op?

BiBiBirdie · 25/02/2020 14:08

Trust me @BoreOfWhabylon she said a lot worse.
I've had comments removed by HQ, didn't always agree but I'm adult enough to deal with it without trying to garner a bunch of people begging me not to leave (when she will probably just name change).

JackieFazakerley · 25/02/2020 14:32

@BiBiBirdie
I did see those comments before deletion, and they were pretty nasty to you. I think coming on here, and tearing into someone seems to be the way some people get rid of their anger at something going on elsewhere.

Oblomov20 · 25/02/2020 14:34

"needlessly rude"? To call someone "thick"

means you get deleted?

Is that mn policy these days?

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/02/2020 14:48

The original thread was posted on Monday. Several knowledgeable posters, including @M3lon, took a lot of trouble to patiently and clearly explain things.

Posters continued to not rtft and leap in with the 'can't get out of bed for money on the lawn" bollocks. In Birdie's case several days after the original post.

I'd have got a bit irked too.

Lweji · 25/02/2020 14:56

Everyone has got irked at some point.
There was no need to call anyone thick (although I often struggle not to), and it was rightfully deleted.
The reaction to the deletion is odd, though. Clearly someone needs to calm down and get some perspective.
A few days (or years) away from MN may help.
I wouldn't recommend any other social media. Twitter and Facebook are a lot worse.

The thing is that no matter how knowledgeable you are about something, people won't be in awe of your wisdom. Most people will ignore it. Or worse.

puds11 · 25/02/2020 15:09

Dunno why people always harp on about how much worse mn is now. I’ve been here for over 10 years and it’s been bitchy and nasty the whole time 🤷‍♀️ It’s not better no worse. The term ‘nest of vipers’ didn’t appear from nowhere.

BiBiBirdie · 25/02/2020 15:19

It just wasn't necessary, it wasn't even her thread! If someone offering what they felt was helpful and supportive at a bad time is abused and it's justified to call someone thick, well, that says more about you than me. And clearly HQ agreed it wasn't in the spirit either. I was far from the only person who commented, I didn't say anything to be nasty or elicit that response and was far from the only person who did comment.
Clearly, M3lon has a seriously inflated ego to think anything warrants her nasty comments or would actually care if she left. Is there really anyone that important on MN that anyone would beg them to stay? I was under the impression it wasn't like that here?

strawberry2017 · 25/02/2020 15:27

@likethebattle love that response! Might use that at work! 😂

Oblomov20 · 25/02/2020 15:58

Puds, agreed. Nest of vipers? I've been here for 16 years and it's always been the same!
