How often do you take your DC on holidays? We go at different amount each year and wondered what everyone else does.

Next year I’m replacing my long haul with them with a Barcelona city break as found incredible hotel and children now old enough to do some sight seeing

TrickyD · 24/02/2020 15:51

I week in winter skiing, 2 in summer to the Caribbean.
They are 48 and 47. We take their kids too though.

BlackInk · 24/02/2020 16:51

@Bringringbring12 I would reconsider whether you are spoiling your kids -- spoiling the planet for their future (and the future of other kids) maybe? The ecological impact of all that flying is simply enormous.
Of course, travel is a great thing in many ways, but we all need to change our habits. Do you really not give this a thought?

@Blankink

Why do it to yourself? Why come on this thread knowing that majority of posters will be posting about flying? Confused

One skiing/ snowboarding at Easter
One all inclusive in October half term
Weekends away as and when.

DH wants to hire a motor home and do some travelling in summer this year but he wants to go to Scotland and I’d rather go to Cornwall but think it’ll be too busy.

We might go abroad at Christmas with friends but need to decide where.

LoonyLunaLoo · 24/02/2020 19:46

Should add we have one DS aged 10. DH has a normal holiday allowance and I work term time only so no juggling childcare.

We usually do 2 weeks abroad, 1 week in the Uk then 2/3 camping trips. Sometimes we manage another weekend getaway depending on finances. I feel we are quite fortunate really.

LER83 · 24/02/2020 20:33

Varies every year. Last year we did week at Disneyland, week in Dorset and week at Centre Parcs. This year we are going to dorset twice, week each time. In laws live other end of the country so have several long weekends up there when we can. Have the odd weekend away sometimes, like one year we stayed overnight at Legoland.

Three holidays a year- one unusual, two to our holiday home in France (shared with parents).
Several weekends away due to competitive swimming (early morning warm ups mean staying over if it’s more than a 2 hour drive). We often try to do an extra night if it coincides with a bank holiday or school break.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 24/02/2020 20:52

Ex Dp and I both work in the travel industry so between the 2 of us ds has at least 3 holidays and a couple of weekends away a year ! If we didn't have these jobs that wouldn't happen, but it's one of the perks

I'm a single parent. I take DS on 4 holidays a year usually - one long haul, one short haul, a trip to Butlins or similar and a trip to our family caravan. We do a few weekends away too - London, Peak district etc.
