Social media phrases you can’t stand

Was browsing Instagram last night and someone I went to school with posted a photo of her and her grandparents and captioned it ‘My grandparents are better than yours’. Well the last of my grandparents passed away last year so...guess hers are better? I know I know it’s supposed to be lighthearted but I’ve seen it loads of times, ‘my friends are better than your friends’ etc. I just don’t like it! Are there any phrases you see on SM that get on your nerves?

On strictly* Blush

Funkycats · 22/02/2020 15:36

What do the dead, dying ones mean?

Funkycats · 22/02/2020 15:39

Oh sorry, I missed page three Blush

logicbook · 22/02/2020 17:12

I can't bear "Me again sorry!" when someone posts another thread not long after the first.

Usually it's in massive Facebook groups where nobody even remembers that they already posted that day/week/whatever. I don't know why but it gets on my nerves!

CeeCee88 · 22/02/2020 17:15

"Feeling cute, might delete later" is one of my pet peeves.

I also don't understand "I/We Stan" - what does that even mean!?

I do however love the tap to tidy posts. Makes me feel inspired to tidy up this mess I live in. Grin

undercoveraessedai · 22/02/2020 17:48

@ceecee88 argh we stan annoys me too! I think it's about being a massive fan of something, like the character Stan in the Eminem song... But it makes my skin crawl 😶

TisConfusion · 22/02/2020 18:05

I never knew what the ‘we stan’ thing meant!

I have literally just seen another #myfriendsarebetterthanyours
It’s ridiculous.

All of these are really annoying!

I hate “and just like that” as in “Just like that she’s 3” or “Just like that we are a family of four”. And “my little family”

Waitingfordennis · 22/02/2020 18:15

Oh god, what does tap to tidy mean please

Bae - aren't they an aerospace company 🤦

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 22/02/2020 18:19

'........and so it begins....'

Fuck of Karen, you're sat in Weatherspoons with a jug. Hardly the beginning of an epic adventure.

TisConfusion · 22/02/2020 18:21

Waitingfordennis tap to tidy is when someone puts a photo up of a messy room (for example) and then you tap and it goes on to the next photo where the room is magically tidied.

Bit weird really, I tidy all the time.

Shoes/coat/fish finger sandwich/sofa of dreams.

lostinleaves · 22/02/2020 19:17

Reaching out is annoying

Patroclus · 22/02/2020 19:18

I've noticed any minority are known as 'folks' on SM and I have no idea why, or why people start sentences with 'I mean'.

Got banned recently for posting a historical photo of Stalin on facebook but it was a blessing really.

Patroclus · 22/02/2020 19:21

Twitter is just a whole other level of self-congratulatory obnoxious shit I cant be dealing with. The bloody clapping inbetween words thing which I get called racist on there for being annoyed by arggggggggggggggh.

AmericanAdventure · 22/02/2020 20:38

Anything where the woman feels the need to add "mum" to whatever she is doing. #workingmum #travellingmum #fitnessmum #mumswhowearpants.
