The most annoying yet commonplace Facebook status updates?

'And just like that, she/he was 1/2/3/4 (76?!)' when announcing a child's birthday

'Leg/arm/chest (ego?) day' usually with a generic gym shot and / or photo of body part referred to.

'Cheeky little (alcoholic drink name)? Don't mind if I do!' with photo of alcoholic drink

'This boy / girl / kid / guy / gal!' And a photo of that person. And that's it.

A massive long list of more things than anyone however efficient could realistically fit into the waking hours of one day, followed by, 'and relax..!'.

'Nom Nom' and a photo of some food.

Happy 80th Birthday to my dad who died 15 years ago

Your dad isn't 80: he died at 65.

Firecracker2019 · 21/02/2020 22:43

Ah yes, I forgot the hospital check in with no further info people!

Or the people who post endless statuses about their anxiety along with loads of self indulgent pouting selfies of themselves showing off their new nails, new hair (usually green or pink or blue).

OP posts:
Patroclus · 21/02/2020 22:49

AHhhhh yeah the young lasses with their 'anxiety' that appears to be perfectly natural worries.

doodlejump1980 · 21/02/2020 22:52

I saw one today saying “granny would’ve been 116 today” errr no she wouldn’t. She died at 90 of old age ya big eedjit.

JKScot4 · 21/02/2020 22:55

Heavenly Birthday , gran would be 129!!

Mumofone1902 · 21/02/2020 22:55

The hospital check-ins.

The long statuses about 'mummy's me time', don't post me a long status about how much you do for your kid and deserve a break. You don't need to justify it to the world, enjoy your bottle of wine.

Today a girl had a status of 'why don't my clothes fit' followed by loads of compliments off friends telling her she's perfect. Not sure if that was her plan behind the status or if she was honestly confused why her clothes didn't fit?

StealthPolarBear · 21/02/2020 22:55

Lunch with this one

Lucylivesinamushroomhouse · 21/02/2020 22:58

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” accompanied by photos of a decorated Christmas tree.

TokyoSushi · 21/02/2020 22:58

I've never actually thought of it that way @Surfer85 but you are in fact absolutely right!

Sunnydaysrock · 21/02/2020 22:58

'Out with this one' Hmm
'No words needed' followed by smug family/holiday/perfect countryside etc photo

LipstickTaserrr · 21/02/2020 23:01

Dozer · 21/02/2020 23:02

“Great evening, great company” with photo of social event with friends.

Loads and loads of holiday photos, day by day of the holiday.

Political stuff.

Dozer · 21/02/2020 23:03

“So proud of DC for.......”

aibutohavethisusername · 21/02/2020 23:04

Living my best life

JaniceBattersby · 21/02/2020 23:05

“Thanks to all those who have stood by me 4 the past four days. They no who they r”

No other explanation.

LightDrizzle · 21/02/2020 23:06

It’s wine o’clock! - and it’s variants. The Friday flood of photos or references to gin/ glass of wine/ fucking Prosecco (my bête noire).
Wow! You are mad Sarah! 32 years old and planning to drink alcohol on Friday evening? Rock and fucking roll.

Cloudyyy · 21/02/2020 23:09

Wow some miserable people on this thread! Why is someone annoying for saying they’re proud of their DC? What’s wrong with “great company”? Hmm Maybe don’t use socia media if you don’t enjoy other people’s updates?

Gwilt160981 · 21/02/2020 23:09

People who are obsessed about working and how they work hard.

Advertising how they're going away and at the airport (big no no, because they're advertising their house is empty)

The usual "just me and me kids from now on"

Badmouthing other people posts

Preaching inspirational quote post roll when their life has gone to shit, doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out they've been put out or dumped.

The approval seeking posts.

Babyg1995 · 21/02/2020 23:10

It's wine o'clock , beer o'clock ahhggg so annoying .

MillicentMartha · 21/02/2020 23:11

Don’t forget tomorrow starts the new Facebook rule where they can use your photos. Don't forget the Deadline is today!!! It can be used in court cases in litigation against you. Everything you've ever posted becomes public from today - even messages that have been deleted. It costs nothing for a simple copy and paste, better safe than sorry.

Blah, blah, blah

I DO NOT GIVE FACEBOOK PERMISSION TO SHARE ANYTHING OF MINE., THAT I HAVE PUT ON THEIR SITE, . PICTURES, CURRENT OR PAST POSTS, PHONE NUMBERS OR EMAILS.. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING CAN BE USED IN ANY FORM WITHOUT MY WRITTEN PERMISSION OR VERBAL CONSENT.

What a load of bollocks! Every few months it does the rounds again.

Tinty · 21/02/2020 23:12

”So proud of DC for.......”

Mostly, posting crappy pouting selfies on facebook instagram snapchat etc etc etc.

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 21/02/2020 23:17

I'm currently getting annoyed with the "if you're feeling low or need to talk I'm here for you" posts since Caroline Flack died.

For quite a lot of those posters and one 'friend' (this term is being used very lossely considering until October last year and over the past few months I would have told you she was one of my closest friends) in particular I would say it's all lip service and when you truly need someone (as I discovered last year and more recently with the shutting out of plans) they don't really give a shit, it's social media points.
