Is your house always guest ready?

I have been off work sick. Feeling miserable so watching a lot of tv.

I have noticed that in loads of shows, overnight guests turn up unexpected and there is always a guest room with clean bed linens. The house is also always tidy.

If someone arrived at my door now they would find a messy living room and a spare bedroom with no sheets on the bed and a half emptied suitcase on the floor. The bathroom would also need a scrub.

Am I a slob? Is everyone else house guest ready?

Spare room is always ready (I just do it as soon as a guest leaves so I don’t think about) but the rest of the house definitely not

managedmis · 21/02/2020 19:51

Hahaha 😂

GertrudeCB · 21/02/2020 19:51

Lol, nope.

Pahahahahahahaha.... not a chance!

igotdemons · 21/02/2020 19:56

My house has 2 spare rooms and neither even has a bed in it! They are both full of junk... 🤷🏻‍♀️ Both bathrooms would definitely need a good going over (especially DH’s!) and I don’t have any spare pillows or duvets (and I certainly don’t own any blankets)! It always makes me laugh on TV when an unexpected guest turns up and the people or person putting them up immediately goes to get the spare duvets/pillows/sheets for them! Even if they live in the smallest place possible and realistically wouldn’t have anywhere to keep said spare bedding! 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄😆

undercoveraessedai · 21/02/2020 19:58

Hahahahaha - nope.

Spare room is also the cats' room and I am messy AF so I need at least a week's notice for guests 🤣

CupoTeap · 21/02/2020 19:59

Defo not

TooTrueToBeGood · 21/02/2020 19:59

Yes, mainly because we don't invite judgy fuckers to our home.

TheCanyon · 21/02/2020 20:01

Honestly, I couldn't give a shit. If they're a guest in my home, then they can put up or fuck off Grin But my house is usually pretty clean and tidy etc though theyll have to excuse the bleach soaked cotton wool round the bath

TheThingWithFeathers · 21/02/2020 20:01

Hahaha! If the guest wanted a cup of tea, I could manage that. But they'd have to sit and drink it while looking at the mess. And if they wanted a bed for the night it would be a pile of duvets on the couch.

MegaClutterSlut · 21/02/2020 20:02

God no, I need at least a 2 hour warning Grin

Pipandmum · 21/02/2020 20:02

My front porch isn't even guest ready. Usually the guest bedroom is the tidiest room in the house but my son stayed in there a few weeks ago and it hasn't recovered.

Franticbutterfly · 21/02/2020 20:02

My house is weird. It’s very clean but can get messy, and there’s often washing hanging about the utility room or a rogue washing basket in the living room.

FlowerArranger · 21/02/2020 20:03

If everything is ticking over nicely, I'd need an hour.
At times of extreme chaos, I'd need a day.
Those are the extremes of my 10 point scale. Most of the time 2-3 hours should do it.

Anyone who gives me less than a day's notice Hmm would have their open invitation recinded.

Snaleandthewhail · 21/02/2020 20:03

My house is guest ready in the five minutes before my in-laws arrive to stay. That is it...

Alpacathebag · 21/02/2020 20:05

No,it’s barely ready for us

TSSDNCOP · 21/02/2020 20:05

Yes. I wouldn’t be embarrassed to let anyone into my house at any time. Then again, I’m pretty sure my friends and family aren’t the judges my types.

aibutohavethisusername · 21/02/2020 20:05

No way!

nancy75 · 21/02/2020 20:06

Mine is guest ready but my spare bedroom is a walk in wardrobe so guests will have to sleep on the floor ( it is a tidy floor if that’s any consolation?)

user1484 · 21/02/2020 20:07

My house hast just been up for sale for 2 months and and keeping it perfect for viewings has been the most stressful part of it all.

SpeedofaSloth · 21/02/2020 20:08

Nope. My actual friends don't mind Smile

coffeeforone · 21/02/2020 20:08

Nope, I'd need a day's notice for it to be clean and tidy. But i do have spare bedding and duvets/pillows so if someone turned up unexpectedly I'd welcome them in and be able to make a spare bed up in 10 mins. They'd have to step over bath toys to have a shower though!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 21/02/2020 20:08

Yes. But I like things to be neat and tidy or I get stressed out.

Mammyloveswine · 21/02/2020 20:08

I panic about people just dropping by!
