You know that you see in you tube
Like sheds/caravans

Moose people do it for a certain amount of time

I think so but you have to be very disciplined and committed to having minimal stuff. Nothing to do with trailer parks anyway, it is a movement, the tiny house movement.

AmazingGreats · 20/02/2020 16:29

Not with the kids.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 20/02/2020 16:29

I have a fantasy tiny home that I design and furnish in my mind to help me drop off to sleep. It's definitely for me on my own tho, DH is a hoarder Wink

Lordfrontpaw · 20/02/2020 16:30

We lived in a tiny mews once - it was the size of a garage and everyone over 5.10 would bang their heads. It was very cute though.

VivaLeBeaver · 20/02/2020 16:31

I have too many clothes so it depends what the storage is like.

DustyMaiden · 20/02/2020 16:33

Yes, on my own, quite like the idea. When I’m home alone I often sit in the little box room on a day bed to read, eat or sleep.

When I see Grand Designs I always think I couldn’t live in an enormous open plan house.

Itwasntme1 · 20/02/2020 16:35

No way🤣.

I have loads of clothes and shoes and books.

Also what about the Christmas tree and suitcases and sports equipment (that I never use).

I would get really claustrophobic

madcatladyforever · 20/02/2020 16:36

Yes I probably could if I had some land. I couldn't stand it if it was on a kerbside.

TulipCat · 20/02/2020 16:37

I really like the idea of owning a lot less stuff, and moving into one of those tiny houses would make me do that. I'd have to ditch the kids first though 😂

beethebee · 20/02/2020 16:37

I'd love to as long as there was lots of outside space. I hate 'stuff'.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 20/02/2020 16:37

My parents do - they have moved into an annexe which is that sort of size, downsized from a 4 bed house (they got rid of a LOT of stuff).
Helps that my mum is the tidiest person ever. She does "one in one out" with clothes, books - everything really.

I could, but I'd have to leave husband and children behind as they like stuff. Lots and lots of stuff.

MimiLaRue · 20/02/2020 16:38

No,I would despise every minute of it. Cant stand living on top of people, i need my space to feel sane

trilbydoll · 20/02/2020 16:38

I could but I need to be able to dry clothes, what do they do about that? It's the one thing that stops me camping in the uk, the thought of loads of wet clothes and no drying space utterly depressed me.

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/02/2020 16:39

For a while. On my own and with access to a very large storage facility.

hiredandsqueak · 20/02/2020 16:39

I could if I was on my own but not if I take the dc with me. I need to be able to put some space between us all.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/02/2020 16:41

I read an article about a family who built themselves a tiny house village rather than a family home. The children were all young adults, there was a parents’ house, a house for each child, an office for the parents and one that was a meeting/leisure room for the family to gather in. The houses were set in a big circle and there was seating and, I think, a barbecue in the middle. It looked very cute but probably works best in a low rain area.

Guacamole · 20/02/2020 16:42

I could if I lived alone. I’m very tidy and minimalist by nature. DH and DS though aren’t and wouldn’t last 5 minutes.

Silvercatowner · 20/02/2020 16:44

You'd think the Moose People would need more space

With the antlers and all.

lpchill · 20/02/2020 16:45

My mum moved from a horder 3 bed semi to a small studio. She loves it. Decluttered and got rid of 95% of her stuff. I would do the same if I was single or just me and DD but have DH who likes his hobbies dog and cat. We do live in a 2 bed mid terrace though.

Jaggypinecone · 20/02/2020 16:45

Yes, permanently and without a second thought once kids leave home. I'm dreaming more and more about this. I'm sick of managing, servicing, financing and heating our (not that large) house when we only take up a finite amount of space in it. I'm sick of all my stuff and everyone else's stuff. We have too much stuff. As long as I had a garage or shed to put some necessary stuff in then I'd gladly give it all up. First world problems eh???

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 20/02/2020 16:48

For a limited amount of time - yes. (Probably 6 months maximum.)

GFhuman · 20/02/2020 16:48

I would definitely. Once the kids have grown up and moved out.

bugbhaer · 20/02/2020 16:50

I dream of living in a small one-bedroomed detached house. Can't find one anywhere here.

PickAChew · 20/02/2020 16:51

No way. I get cabin fever enough in a large 3 bed semi, when the weather is dire.

Crinkle77 · 20/02/2020 16:52

Yes I'd just love a space I could call my own even if it was tiny. For various reasons I'm having to rely on family for somewhere to live at the moment. Whilst I'm grateful I'd love my own place but can't afford it.
