Closed down or discontinued - what do you miss?

My local Oasis closed down before Christmas and I miss it so much! I've just been browsing their website and it's just not the same as seeing something on the hanger and thinking "ooh that's pretty!"
My favourite perfume and lipstick have been discontinued. I've been stockpiling thanks to ebay but they've been gone so long now I don't think I will get any more of either now. I won't look or smell the same soon Sad
What do you miss?
I fully expect this thread to be lots of people missing Woolworths and yes I still miss them too

OP posts:

Hepworths (I'm male). You could get a good bespoke suit in any High Street for a week's wages. Now it's a month's, and they're put together with staples in Vietnam.

ImOnlyHereForTheCapybaras · 23/02/2020 04:23

BHS

Woolies (and Big W) - loved those red slot machines you put 10p in and got a mini dairy milk. and their huge toblerone bars- 3 for a fiver near Christmas

Kookai (ok that is going back a bit!)

Wimpy burger bars (even further back)

Bookends (new cheap books and also a whole basement of second hand books. I loved it there. There was a branch in Bristol and one in Gloucester)

An online shop called The Winking Cavy Store which was full of gifts, jewellery etc all guinea pig related!

Discontinued things (this is going to be looong):

Terry's Pyramints

Terry's original style choc oranges (the new ones just aren't the same)

McDonald's McRib

Ben and Jerry's Chubby Hubby (with peanut butter pretzels in vanilla and chocolate swirls)

Terry's Nepolitans

Terry's melting moments bars (early to mid 90s- hexagonal chocolate squares with hazelnut and caramel and they also did one with mountain shaped segments and white chocolate "snow" on the peaks)

Cadbury's Snowflake

Fry's 5 Centres (this is cheating a bit as by the time I was born they discontinued it, but when I read about retro choclate and this bar always comes up, I feel sad that it was discontinued as sounds so good. Ditto Cabana bars and Banjo bars)

Wall's ce cream Tacos

Gino Ginelli ice cream especially Choc Hazelnut and Tutti Frutti

King Cones (not Burger King but those huge cornets you got from ice cream vans)

Shaders and Toners- wash in wash out hair colours

ImOnlyHereForTheCapybaras · 23/02/2020 04:25

Oh, just remembered- Faith and Dolcis shoe shops

ImOnlyHereForTheCapybaras · 23/02/2020 04:29

Cadbury's Top Deck (can get it in South Africa now, apparently for a price)

Cadbury's Mint Crisp- ok, you can get it but very rarley (only a few shops now and it is tiny)

I miss how crisp bags were not half full of air

Chambourcy mousses (in strawberry or chocolate, hippo design on packet)

Beef Discos

Beef Crunchies, or Cheese and Onion Crunchies (kind of like Quavers type crisps)

Bluesheep8 · 23/02/2020 08:25

Body Shop patchouli perfume

Bluesheep8 · 23/02/2020 09:15

And dolce and gabana "feminine" perfume

TopOfTheGherkin · 23/02/2020 09:40

Oh yes @Bluesheep8

D&GFeminine was my favourite perfume in the late 90s/early 2000s. I bought a part used bottle on eBay a while ago for over the odds, just to be able to sniff it again Grin.

sueelleker · 23/02/2020 10:00

Coty Sweet Earth solid perfume palettes. I had 3 or 4 of the different combinations.

gingersausage · 23/02/2020 11:34

@ImOnlyHereForTheCapybaras if you’re feeling really dirty, my kids reliably inform me that Lidl microwave BBQ rib in a bun is an excellent dupe for the McRib. Wink

Lostchocs · 23/02/2020 15:11

Spiras were my all time favourite. I really miss them. I did love. Secret too although they were quite sickly.

I had a great all in one face base from Body Shop in the mid-late 90s. You used a wet sponge to apply it and it was like a hard powder which you spread onto your face with said wet sponge and it dried matte. I loved it.

DariaMorgendorffer · 23/02/2020 15:25

McDonald's hot fudge sundaes. Heartbroken Sad

TopOfTheGherkin · 23/02/2020 15:27

@DariaMorgendorffer

Yes! The hot fudge sundaes were wonderful. All this McFlurry nonsense nowadays Angry.

McD’s cinnamon doughnuts were also lovely.

CountingDownToBedtime · 23/02/2020 15:30

Bay Trading, used to love some of their clothes. And Etam.

SunsetBeetch · 23/02/2020 15:47

Clockhouse at C&A

Cosmetics to go (early and better incarnation of Lush) and its Happy Hippy body wash, egg shampoo and conditioner (my hair has never been so shiny) , ginger perfume and minty exfoliating face and body mask.

As someone else said, River Island before it went trendy.

BoccaBaciata · 23/02/2020 15:55

Body Shop Morello Cherry lip balm
City L'aimant creamy skin perfume
Pyramint
Cosmetics To Go, especially their Myddvai Face And Back Pack
Past Times. I sodding loved Past Times.

littlepooch · 23/02/2020 16:05

Lemon polos - I adored these.
M&s chicken tikka sandwich was my treat

There was a shop called Tchibo. They used to change the stock once a week and it was all random but so good.

Also miss the shoe shops - ravel, dolcis, faith etc. Used to love going shoe shopping!!

littlepooch · 23/02/2020 16:19

I thought of some more.

these frozen french bread pizzas my mum used to buy us. Oh they were so nice.

Gino Ginelli ice cream

And these little tubs of ice cream/mousse which were frozen and had chocolate sauce and nuts on top. Those were our treats.

M&s crispbread. I never got over the loss of those. Used to buy boxes of them at a time.

Bath pearls and bath salts. They were crap but I just loved spending my pocket money on them and they just bring back such happy memories!

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 23/02/2020 16:22

This thread threw me down a rabbit hole of googling what the hell happened to Crabtree and Evelyn

They were a Christmas staple for older relatives. And I loved the Jojoba range, delicious and comforting smelling and beautiful waterbabies-esque illustrated packaging.

Doggodogington · 23/02/2020 16:25

BoccaBaciata · 23/02/2020 16:32

Vinorosso74 · 23/02/2020 19:52

I miss our local M&S which closed last year. It was only small but had a food section, decent range of kids clothes and useful for tights and socks.
I also miss the range of shoe shops.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/02/2020 21:04

My DS misses Crunchie Biscuits and insists I look each time .
