It's the Titan Airways logo alongside the plane icon

thelionessqueen · 01/04/2020 22:06

Ahh thankyou !

LemonRedwood · 02/04/2020 09:50

Why is an Amsterdam to Cairo flight heading in this direction?

Is it something to do with avoiding certain airspaces?

It's just an error. Flightradar24 doesn't know where it's going. Cargo flights are different to scheduled flights as their destinations vary all the time. FR24 has made a guess based on the flight number and got it wrong.

Dreamlifter over UK this morning.

Odd.

Olinguito · 05/04/2020 14:12

I've been watching that one too Witchend - seems to be heading north now. Mystifying.

Witchend · 05/04/2020 14:34

Now it looks like it's going home.

bonnieclydesdale · 05/04/2020 14:50

It's Ravenair doing aerial survey work (imaging) - apparently they've been
doing these flights over parts of London over the last few days..

Looks like BA flying a couple of A380s to what looks like a tiny French airport. Another park up in guessing

Yes BA are parking up most of their 380s there but you might be in the doo doo with the Bergers of Chateauroux for describing their airport as "tiny"..

Whilst it's not really on the beaten track from a passenger POV it is a major air freight hub and has a fairly substantial (3500 metre long) main runway. It also gets used on a frequent but irregular basis by some airlines when they need somewhere to go to actually have "base train" their pilots in a real aircraft rather than a simulator.

E3A-AWACS ( Long range radar equipped airborne command and control centre) doing whatever they get up to these days...

Carol Vorderman gave out her plane's ID in a recent interview. It's being used to ferry PPE but after this is all over we'll know who is in this plane Grin

Why are there so many, what seem to be passenger flights, at the moment ?

notimagain · 08/04/2020 21:37

Whereabouts in the globe are you looking and what level of traffic are you expecting to see?

The States hasn't shut down domestically, plus they have a massive amount of freight traffic (Fedex, UPS etc).

There also hasn't been a complete shutdown in Europe. BA, Air France and others are perhaps running a very minimal passenger service domestically, there are the specialised freighters flying around(Fedex, UPS, DHL,), there are a few Long haul repatriation type flights being flown by the likes of BA and Virgin and also some of what appears to be passenger traffic using normal flight callsigns being flown by the likes of Aer Lingus, BA, Virgin, etc is actually them using their passenger aircraft such as 747s, 777s 787s etc to carry freight.

Compared with how Flight Radar looked even a month ago tonight the skies look very empty.

MarchApril · 08/04/2020 22:30

I didn’t realise that passenger aircraft were carrying freight That may explain it

notimagain · 09/04/2020 15:46

Yep, the exact amount varies on the day but many of the modern widebody passenger types can probably carry 35 - 45, plus tonnes of freight/cargo in the belly hold.
