Your post is the very definition of "frothing" CuriousaboutSamphire.

Of course it is sad that she took her life. But I completely disagree that the cps are to blame. Wish the police had pressed charges against my dad after he visciously assaulted my mum rather than listening to my mum when she begged them not to. Then maybe she wouldn’t have endured another 3 years of abuse that only ended when she killed herself when I was 16. That was 30 years ago. I am glad the victim doesn’t get the deciding say on whether somebody is charged or not.
It is just all so sad. I feel for Caroline Flack that she felt she had no other way out but I feel more for what the family are now going to have to face. Survivors of suicide have to face a lot more than other people suffering bereavement- the gossip, the what ifs - wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

PanicAndRun · 16/02/2020 09:26

Can we please stop calling DV and DA a "mistake"?

No it wasn’t at all. Curious is right.

Bluntness100 · 16/02/2020 09:45

None of us know what occurred that night, but we have read the police statements. The police and cps were doing their job. If they are called to the scene and have enough evidence to prosecute this is what they are duty bound to do, there is no wrong doing on their behalf, and people screaming they have done wrong, need to think of the wider implications of saying this for domestic abuse victims.

Any victims in fact. The onus should never be on them to decide to prosecute if the police have the evidence. There can be many reasons people won't wish to prosecute, from intimidation on.

Caroline is being reported as suffering from significant mental health problems, depression, and she was facing a trial and possible custodial sentence, the likely end of her career. There was clearly much going on in her private life.

People shouldn't be guessing what caused this. Only things we know for sure is Caroline was in a very difficult place in her personal and professional life, and was reportedly very unwell, and it had very tragic consequences.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 16/02/2020 09:57

"deliberate gossiping shite"
"bones of a woman not yet cold"
"have some shame"

Pure froth.

floatygoat · 16/02/2020 09:57

Evidently she cannot even escape in death.

MurrayTheMonk · 16/02/2020 10:02

I don't think anyone will every know why she did it. Caroline has talked frequently about her mental Heath issues-after winning strictly-arguably a high point in her life- she talked about her depression openly. It seemed to me that she was quite unwell.

That, combined with living in a celebrity sort of world-out a lot-drinking which is rarely a great combination with poor mental health-even as part of a regular social life-exposed both voluntarily and involuntarily to Media scrutiny....none if that seems often to be a winning combination in terms of maintaining good mental health.

Add in an assault charge against your loved one-and all the guilt she must have rightly or wrongly-we don't know what happened-felt about that-and the weight of everyone talking about it (which they would-it's someone who has chosen a very publicly visible line of work-so it's not surprising their was press really), and the end result hasn't been unpredictable.
Incredibly sad, but not shocking in that it happened. I was sad when I heard the news but not surprised.

She was obviously very vulnerable and I hope that her friends and family were taking the best care of her they could-because if not, why not? It has made me think about someone in my social circle that I know is very vulnerable and wether I'm doing enough for her-and the answer is at times-probably not. Because it's hard work. But I do need to try harder. If that's something that comes out of this-that people look more closely at their own friendships and help out more when needed -then at least it's some sort of positive.

I don't think the CPS or the press can be solely blamed actually. I think it's just a set of awful, chaotic circumstances and a very troubled woman who was quite unwell in the middle of it all.

Oliversmumsarmy · 16/02/2020 10:04

coconuttelegraph with no witnesses (it was in their kitchen) even with broken crockery, bruises, blood I don’t know (and neither did friend) what the police would class as evidence.

SpanishFly · 16/02/2020 10:07

I kind of feel like she and Alistair Stewart have been thrown under a bus by ITV, while Ant and Phillip are/were given love and support.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 16/02/2020 10:12

Philip Schofield??

ShatnersWig · 16/02/2020 10:12

Olivers a 999 call from the boyfriend telling them she had cracked open his head and that she was trying to kill him. His words for a start.

ShatnersWig · 16/02/2020 10:14

Spanish Ant stood down from the next series of a show because of his court case and replaced pro tem by Holly. Caroline stood down from the next series of a show because of the court case and replaced pro tem by someone else. ITV at no time sacked either and the door was open for their return.

Where is the difference please?

TheVanguardSix · 16/02/2020 10:20

Murraythemonk such wise, kind, an accurate words.

Horsemad · 16/02/2020 10:22

I agree with MurrayTheMonk. Some people are just not strong enough for that lifestyle.
Caroline was one of those people, sadly.

The police and CPS have a job to do and I think she was unwell way before this last event which led to a pending court case.

It's a very sad outcome and I feel for her family and friends.

Oliversmumsarmy · 16/02/2020 10:31

Olivers a 999 call from the boyfriend telling them she had cracked open his head and that she was trying to kill him. His words for a start

Same as friend. Only difference was friend did want to prosecute

SpanishFly · 16/02/2020 10:31

@ShatnersWig I know what youre saying but I've realised if I elaborate too much the thread is at risk of being shut down.

And yes, Phillip Schofield is who I meant- sorry

sendhelpppppp · 16/02/2020 10:33

What are people suggesting then? Turn a blind eye to any arrest and only make a decision on someones job when the judge says guilty or not guilty?

I think thats pretty unrealistic and i can imagine the uproar if a persons found guilty and was allowed to carry on for 6 months as normal.

SuperPixie247 · 16/02/2020 10:34

There were some truly vile comments on here when she was arrested for DV. I wonder if the same posters are now "oh no rip poor Caroline". Hmm

Crystal87 · 16/02/2020 10:36

RIP Caroline. I didn't always agree with everything she did but she didn't deserve to end this way. She was human, none of us are perfect. And though what she did was awful, we will never know the full story or what demons she faced. She will be missed and I hope she has found peace.

NoSharon · 16/02/2020 10:45

Well this thread and the numerous like it are proof to me that she probably knew that this would never go away and literally had no way out. Not even in death.
Hope you're proud of yourselves.

sendhelpppppp · 16/02/2020 10:48

There is never, ever, no other way out.

NoSharon · 16/02/2020 10:50

Well, even her death won't stop the gossip and hatred on MN. She literally had no way out.

ShatnersWig · 16/02/2020 10:50

Well NoSharon you'll probably be delighted to know that MNHQ have deleted the other thread discussing this subject so no doubt this one will go to. I can't see where either thread were "against the guidelines" but there we are.
