Little Things About Yourself That Annoy You

I come into the house still wearing my prescription sunglasses & realise that I have left my ordinary glasses in the car nearly every time. Drives me crackers! Particularly annoying as our parking is a little walk away from the house. I always aim to put my car keys in the exact same place so I can easily find them but hardly ever do & have to hunt for them. I nearly always let a cup of tea go cold. I shout at DD way too often, despite vowing to walk away & not let her push my buttons.

I have been trying to decide on which set of wardrobes to buy since early summer last year just make your mind up Al

FudgeBrownie2019 · 13/02/2020 21:36

I take everything to heart. Everything. I over-analyse situations, words, smiles, anything and then re-interpret it negatively so what started out as a friend texting to say "see you next week" ends up with me thinking "she bloody hates me and wants to see me cry".

I keep it all inside because the rational part of me knows it's nonsense, but my inner monologue is perpetually trying to destroy me.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 13/02/2020 21:37

I can't let things go. I play them over and over in my mind.
I get way to angry too quickly. To be fair, having a partner who enjoys winding you up because you have a short fuse, doesn't help.

minipie · 13/02/2020 21:39

I don’t go to bed and am then tired and grumpy the next day. Every morning I swear I’ll get an early night and then stay up again.

I get socially anxious, which means I never arrange anything. And then I get anxious about having no social life.

I overthink every decision so they all take far too long.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 13/02/2020 21:44

I'm also a procrastinator when I comes to paper work. I will leave any paper work, forms I have to fill in, bills I have to pay, until the very last minute. For example, I have a form to fill out to send away to the "governing body", I suppose you could call them, who oversee my self employment. I've had arount 3 or 4 months to fill out this form, they have sent reminders frequently. I just filled it out 15 minutes ago, deadline is tomorrow. The form took all of 5 minutes. Why, why the fuck do I do it!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 13/02/2020 21:45

I procrastinate far too much for someone who has plenty of time to do things

Graphista · 13/02/2020 21:55

“I am incapable of having a good nights sleep” same

Also

Looking for I was going to say phone but actually it applies to pretty much anything while holding...you guessed it! My phone (or whatever it is I’m looking for)

Always forgetting that food straight out the pan is HOT! Always forgetting that one and getting greedy.

I’m very windy! Probably due to being veggie but I could honestly fart for Britain!

@ethelmayfergus may seem daft but is it possible you may need glasses or hearing aid? Sight AND hearing both help us assess our environment in terms of distance from things etc

My mum wears glasses anyway for years but when her hearing went too and she got a hearing aid she suddenly found she was having fewer bumps and knocks, apparently it’s a recognised “thing” among hearing specialists but it’s not widely discussed.

I’m also a world class procrastinator but I have ocd so not a little thing.

LadyLovelyLockz · 13/02/2020 22:05

I'm lazy. I dont have any self control when it comes to eating, hence being enormous. Am massively lacking in self confidence at work despite being senior leadership team. I have a very quick temper. I'm crap at parallel parking.

LadyLovelyLockz · 13/02/2020 22:06

Oh and I know I interrupt people. I'm terrible and try so hard not to and yet I still do. I get very frustrated with myself about it.

Eckhart · 13/02/2020 22:24

@FudgeBrownie2019 hsperson.com/test/highly-sensitive-test/

Have you read about this? It was something of a revelation to me and helped a lot.

Seasalted · 13/02/2020 22:33

Stay up too late then feel tired the next day. Am disorganised and a procrastinator.

JillAmanda · 13/02/2020 22:38

I am lazy. I don't want to be, I try to hide it, but I am a lazy sod

Me too. I’m bone idle. There’s really nothing I’d rather do than nothing.

tobee · 13/02/2020 22:45

I've always been this way:-

Butterfly mind
Talk too much. So much so that I exhaust myself. And often bore myself. Let alone anyone else.

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 13/02/2020 22:48

I tell people the same story 3 or 4 times before I start telling and realise I've told them before. Gets very shouting for me, I can't imagine how everyone else feels.

I don't know where its come from as it's only in the past 3 years and I'm only 29...

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 13/02/2020 22:49

Annoying not shouting

Dangermouse80 · 14/02/2020 06:26

I always lose my keys / bank card / phone all the time. It shouldn't be that hard to put it back in the right place each time.
Also guilty of putting things off if they are too boring.

SuperMeerkat · 14/02/2020 06:28

When people arrange their scarves jauntily or put a blanket on their bed/sofa in a jaunty fashion, I can just never do it. It’s either neat or messy...very annoying.

Bakedpotatoandgin · 14/02/2020 06:32

Lots of clumsy things, dropping stuff, bumping into things, but the most annoying is dropping some rice/ pasta/ whatever every time I drain it. The other day I was congratulating myself as I had used exactly the right amount of water so I didn't have to drain my rice. As I was peering into the pan, I tipped it too far and half the rice went all over the cooker. I've actually started cooking more food to allow for losses.

Minesril · 14/02/2020 07:13

I have one of those long faces which everyone thinks is sad/worried/anxious. Really sucks for job interviews when they think I'm 'nervous' when in fact I'm fine. I saw the consultant midwife about my planned c sec and she kept saying variations of 'are you sure you're ok?' I swear, the 'cheer up live it might never happen' is more annoying than people assuming they know what you're feeling due to the way your face falls Angry

Minesril · 14/02/2020 07:14

Less annoying that should say!

Chemenger · 14/02/2020 07:23

Procrastination, laziness, making ambitious plans then not even starting them. And losing laser pointers, I’m a lecturer and they are a tool of my trade, yet I can’t seem to keep possession on one for more than a month.

fastliving · 14/02/2020 07:55

My bladder.
I must have the smallest bladder in the world.
Constantly on the look out for loos.
Can't drive for more than 1.5 hours without needing the loo.
I really restrict the amount of water I drink and have to drink horrible decaf tea because I have to go to the loo so often.

TreacherousPissFlap · 14/02/2020 12:15

I spend far too long on my phone.

I stay in bed until the last minute but then spend all the time I'm upright being busy and doing shit. I'd like to spend less time lying down and more time (upright) taking life at a more sedate pace.

fluffyrice · 14/02/2020 12:59

Biscuits and procrastination- I have loads to do and am overweight. I plan to avoid unhealthy snacks and have a list of tasks that I intend to just get on with, so that in the evening I can relax. Yet I am on MN eating 'just one' actually 6 so far biscuit, knowing that I will then spend the evening rushing around trying to get work/washing etc done.

ringletsandtwiglets · 14/02/2020 13:49

I wish I could be a bit more forthright and honest with people. As with other posters, I'm a bit of a pleaser, so will drop everything I need to do in order to help or support others, then end up grumbling like Muttley to myself when I'm pushed for time as a result.

6 months ago, I would have also said that I had no willpower and was lazy. Then I got ill and managed to give myself a massive boot up the arse to lose weight and exercise every day. Now I'm on the look-out to ensure I don't become one of those running-tracker social media obsessers.
