I realised last year I was just listening to the same things over and over and really wanted to expand my horizons a bit.

Stuff I like is fairly mainstream but I also like Indie and Folk

Been listening to a lot of :

Taylor Swift, Lizzo, Billie Elish type thing

Only really not into heavy/death metal and punk, otherwise like all music

Other than that listen to anything, what album is your go to that you could listen to again and again?

Fontaine's D.C. - amazing first album. Might be a bit rocky but was BBC 6 music's album of 2019

Floralnomad · 11/02/2020 19:43

If you like folky try something by Will Varley , he’s excellent and I will also recommend Lee Forsyth Griffith’s Silence = death .

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 11/02/2020 19:49

I'm currently listening to Stormzy Grin

I can highly recommend Sam Fender- Hypersonic Missiles. Fab lyrics from a young Geordie.
Also don't be put off by the name of the band but Eagles of Death Metal- Heart On is an amazing album. Will get you bouncing.

Im curerntly listening to Dark Dark Darks album Wild Go. its a bit folksy compared to what I usually listen to but very good. A friend recommended I check out Bonnie Prince Billy as well.

My indie rock tastes have chilled since I hit my 40s and I have been stuck in a Nick Cave rut.

This is the Kit - Moonshine Freeze.

She has a gorgeous warmth to her voice and the songs are beautifully written and arranged. Otherworldly, introspective and uplifting.

Pieceofpurplesky · 11/02/2020 19:58

Cassandra Wilson. Jazzy and beautiful

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 11/02/2020 20:01

Folk
Trails of the lonely. Pts. 1 & 3 - The Lost Brothers

BooseysMom · 11/02/2020 20:02

A bit dated but i have always highly rated Badly Drawn Boy. Their album The Hour of the Bewilderbeast won album of the year way back when! Folksy and kind of popsy combined. Every song on the album is good.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 11/02/2020 20:06

Aaah, Hour Of The Bewilderbeast that sets me back to my uni days! Smile

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit
If your era is Oasis / Britpop style then definitely give Walls by Louis Tomlinson a quick listen.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 11/02/2020 20:26

I will. I'm making a list 😂

My favourite folk artist is Kate Rusby, she has a golden voice. My introduction to her was her album 20, which is my go to when I want cheering up.

AllTheCakes · 11/02/2020 20:44

Do you like Catfish and the Bottlemen? Quite indie and catchy.

MrsJoshNavidi · 11/02/2020 20:50

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 11/02/2020 20:53

I fucking ADORE Kate Rusby @TheBitterBoy

Have all her albums except the new one. Love the song in your username also
