I'm in bed after an op - what shall I watch on telly?

I'm in bed for the week after a minor op - please can you recommend me good telly or films?

I have Netflix and Prime, not Sky.

Don't like fantasy. Am enjoying The Stranger and also howling with laughter at This Country. Also loved crime docs eg The Staircase.

Please tell me what you've loved recently!

If you’ve got Amazon Prime- then watch This is Us, it’s amazing! Or I player Motherland- v funny!
And get well soon 💐

ALemonyPea · 11/02/2020 13:59

ER is on C4 catchup

Guacamole · 11/02/2020 14:01

Do you know what I was sick the other day and found myself watching Inspector Morse on ITV3 of all things and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Probably not the kind of thing you’re after though. :)

Eckhart · 11/02/2020 14:01

Have you watched Happy Valley on Netflix? Dark, and very very good.

BeyonceKnows · 11/02/2020 14:02

The Sinner and You are my two recent favourites!
Hope you make a speedy recovery! Flowers

TheGreyInThisCity · 11/02/2020 14:03

Off the top of my head:
The Let Down
The Good Place (a little bit surreal but not really fantasy)
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Hope you feel better soon!

monty09 · 11/02/2020 14:03

How to get away with murder it's brilliant

ajandjjmum · 11/02/2020 14:05

I've just watched all of Our Girl - loved it.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

WellTidy · 11/02/2020 14:06

Modern Love on Prime. 8 x 30 minute standalone episodes. Amazing cast. Get the tissues ready.

ClientQueen · 11/02/2020 14:06

Have you watched endeavour?
Spinning out on Netflix is properly cheese but good

HollowTalk · 11/02/2020 14:10

I got hooked on The Crown recently. I'm not particularly interested in the royal family but it was such a fantastic series.

Poptartfart · 11/02/2020 14:12

Hope you're feeling better soon. Downton Abbey on iPlayer is sumptuous and absorbing TV, perfect for convalescence. Also The Detectorists - witty and gentle viewing, also The Let Down on Netflix is hilarious and wonderful.

FaithInfinity · 11/02/2020 14:15

I’m just watching The Stranger..
Second The Good Place, such a great show. Also recommend New Amsterdam on Prime, really good medical drama. If you like True Crime stuff The Staircase is a fascinating documentary about a man who’s wife is found at the bottom of the staircase. It’s a story that gets weirder by the episode!

ZeroFucks · 11/02/2020 14:24

For me: The Good Place is absolutely turd, don't bother.

Definitely watch on Netflix:
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Crazy Ex-girlfriend
Kim's Convenience
Great News
Good Girls

On Amazon Prime:
Series 1 and 2 of 60 Days In
Lost (until it gets really shit and weird in the last couple of series)

Then get yourself Prime Crime and Investigation add-on and watch the next two series of 60 Days In

BeyonceKnows · 11/02/2020 14:25

Abducted in Plain Sight is a true crime (utterly bizarre!!) documentary!

Mommy Dead and Dearest is also a really good true crime documentary.

tobee · 11/02/2020 14:27

If you liked The Staircase have you heard of Beyond Reasonable Doubt? A bbc podcast (free) about the same case.

RhymingRabbit3 · 11/02/2020 14:27

Another vote for the Good Place. Easy to watch and very funny.

tobee · 11/02/2020 14:28

Same case, different angle.

Or The Jinx. Which is tv.

pinklillie · 11/02/2020 14:29

I'm going to be doing the same for the next few weeks too.

Hope you recover well and are feeling better soon.

On Netflix have you watched Sex Education? Gillian Anderson is great in it. Also second the Stranger. Oh and I'm half way through The Act too

pinklillie · 11/02/2020 14:30

Dumplin' was a nice watch with Jennifer Aniston too

Biffsboys · 11/02/2020 14:39

The stranger - on Netflix.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 11/02/2020 14:43

Bad blood

Hoohaahoo · 11/02/2020 14:44

I think it’s an older show but I just finished watching Sarah Millican on prime, just so funny!

20viona · 11/02/2020 14:45

Power, sex education.

whydoihavetogothroughsomuch · 11/02/2020 14:46
