Shit help, Dd4 just fell from bunk bed

Heyjude20 · 11/02/2020 00:05

Omg.. I don’t know what to do. Currently on a sleeper train home.

Assumed dd4 would be ok on top bunk as they have saftey bars.

She’s just fell in her sleep!! Massive thud. She cried obviously but is still asleep.

Wtf do I do??

She cried in her sleep? Didn't wake up?

Thats a long way to fall.

What time are you home?

There must be staff on board the train?

smashstore · 11/02/2020 00:08

Wake her up to assess how she is, if she is ok take her in with you. If she isn’t call the host to arrange to get to hospital.

Houseworkavoider · 11/02/2020 00:08

I would call ‘111’ for advice if you’re worried.
Any discharge/bleeding from ears or nose would need immediate medical help I think

ddraigygoch · 11/02/2020 00:10

Does she seem alert, easy to wake etc?
Does she have any noticeable injuries?

If everything appears OK she should be fine. I would relax and keep an eye on her if she seems fine.

Heyjude20 · 11/02/2020 00:21

Iv woken her and she seems fine, she’s moving her arms and legs and Iv pressed all round her tummy/ribs. She just said her tummy hurts but not when I press it.

You need to tell the staff on the train in case you need to report the accident later.

Heyjude20 · 11/02/2020 00:33

I feel sick.

She seems ok just abit teary and still shattered. She’s fell asleep on dhs chest.

You need to get the guard to call 999, stop the train at the next station and have medics attend to her. You cannot be sure she's ok.

Heyjude20 · 11/02/2020 00:40

I will do in the next hour if she doesn’t seem herself. Iv just woke her and she’s sat up and talking normally, just abit shaken up. She says it doesn’t hurt anywhere. She’s gone back sleep. She’s an easy sleeper anyway, she falls asleep fast.

OP posts:
smashstore · 11/02/2020 00:43

999 is overkill. She seems fine. Keep an eye on her, which is what you would do at home. If you do need to get to hospital the host will arrange everything for you.

Mumdiva99 · 11/02/2020 00:44

Hi, is a sleeper top bunk the same as a normal top bunk or lower? I would say (obviously I'm not there) that as you woke her and she seemed ok i wouldn't worry. But pop her to sleep with one of you in the lower bunk. (Any concerns though about her then obviously you can do some thing else).

Heyjude20 · 11/02/2020 00:50

It’s around 5ft Id say.

She seems fine. My god I feel sick. I didn’t even hear it as I had ear plugs in but Dh was right next to her. She seems ok. She’s snoring away which is normal.

I want to hold off on 999. It’s such a big impact on everyone if she’s ok. I’m going to take her walk in when we are home though.

Iv set my alarm for an hours time to wake and check her

Did she wake when she hot the floor?

Someone i know broke her neck falling off the top bunk... She was moving it ok. Just went hospital to make sure....

DecemberSnow · 11/02/2020 00:52

What is the next stop?

And how long till your stop?

DecemberSnow · 11/02/2020 00:53

5ft is a hell of a long way to fall...

Only blessing would be, as she was asleep, she would of been floppy....

Heyjude20 · 11/02/2020 00:55

She woke up sobbing when she fell.

Not sure when next stop is, il have alook!

No idea what we would do if we got checked out they said she was ok, how would we get home?

The best thing for a bang to the head is sleep EXCEPT IF SHE IS SICK. If she is sick or listless she needs medical attention.

Heyjude20 · 11/02/2020 00:55

Iv just been toilet then rework her when I got back, she woke fine and said she felt ok

OP posts:
Heyjude20 · 11/02/2020 00:56

She’s not sick and says she doesn’t feel sick. Iv pokes and prodded everywhere, she’s walking ok and moving her head.

I feel like the worlds worst parent

Oh pet it isn't your fault just one of those things.

I would just keep an eye on her.You could ring 111 for advice/ reassurance. They will often get a doctor to phone you back.

billsmothers · 11/02/2020 01:10

If it's anyone's fault it's the train company for not having suitable safety rails on the bunks - they should be high enough to deal with unexpected jolts as the train stops and starts and they clearly aren't.

cloudsbelow · 11/02/2020 01:13

A walk in centre won't be able to help you. If anything, she'll need a head CT so A&E as soon as possible.
Don't risk it.

smashstore · 11/02/2020 01:15

If it's the Caledonian Sleeper they are all brand new trains so it's unlikely they will fall below the safety standards.

smashstore · 11/02/2020 01:16

Eh? Since when did a head CT become standard for a kid falling off a bunk bed? If there are no signs of injury or concussion usually you are good to go.

NothingWrong · 11/02/2020 01:16

Wow, I hope she's fine. Did she bang her head?

Where are you on the train? Is it in the UK?
