Sausage and apple plait which I'm actually making myselfShock
Broccoli, cauli, carrots, peas and onion gravy
Think I might even make a syrup sponge for pudding
With all that stodge I challenge even Ciara to blow me off my feet Grin

almond pancakes
Do they have ground almonds in the batter, or maybe filled with a finger of marzipan and warmed so it melts? Sounds intriguing!

hhsa · 09/02/2020 16:49

I'm having coffee now with an almond croissant

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 09/02/2020 16:49

*Why on earth is everyone making such a huge fuss over this?
I'm in an area badly hit by Storm Desmond, I know business owners still suffering from the associated financial losses who are currently shitting themselves as they would never survive another catastrophe.
My local river is currently massively high, flowing like you wouldn't believe. People's houses are flooding.
That's bloody why.

Chewbecca · 09/02/2020 16:49

We just finished pork and parsnip cobbler with carrots & cabbage. It was yummy, Wine

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 09/02/2020 16:52

@lazylinguist your cinnamon bun recipe would be warmly welcomed Smile

Puppywithattitude · 09/02/2020 16:55

I bloody love a food thread.

noodledoodler · 09/02/2020 16:55

Hope everyone is safe out there today. Supermeerkat is clearly on the wrong thread, it's INCONCEIVABLE that someone would come onto a thread so obviously about food and start a conversation about their car related hobby......
@cwg1 if you want to know more, you'll need to open the original link and read down a bit, if not, its as you wish 😉

We had some home made tomato soup for lunch and I have a chicken and leek casseroor bubbling away nicely in the slow cooker. I'll add some dumplings to it about 45 minutes before we eat.

Heihei · 09/02/2020 16:57

Poached egg and bacon medallions on crumpet loaf for brekkie, fried chicken and cauliflower cheese for tea. It’s a good food day indeed!

ToEarlyForDecorations · 09/02/2020 17:04

Filled jacket potato for lunch. My husband had home made soup and bread. I had some yesterday, I don't want it on two consecutive days.

Dinner will be roast pork, roast potatoes and roast parsnips with cabbage, carrots, broccoli and carrots. Served with gravy made with meat juices. Apple sauce and mustard optional.

noodledoodler · 09/02/2020 17:09

Dinner here was pre ceded by some potato and leek soup made in the instapot, now wondering I could make with leftover tinned peaches and shortcrust pastry, I bet Mary Berry has a good recipe

Gingerkittykat · 09/02/2020 17:16

Nothing so far.

Someone had the clever idea of buying a small turkey because it was reduced to £3. It's sat in the fridge all week defrosting and when I took it out it spilled blood over my fridge meaning it had to be taken apart, all the veg taken out and binned and the fridge deep cleaned.

It is much bigger than a chicken so will take ages to cook.

When it is ready it will have skirlie and sausage stuffing, parsnips, mixed veg, gravy and torkies.

carbuncleonapigsposterior · 09/02/2020 17:20

For dinner, chicken and leek pie, jacket potatoes, brussels, carrots and a large glass of this Wine

embolass · 09/02/2020 17:22

Roast beef and roasties, broccoli, green beans, mash, roast carrots, gravy and Nigella orange loaf cake. Wine.

bluerad · 09/02/2020 17:25

Poached egg on toast for brunch. Spicy veggie casserole for dinner. Trying to resist Apple crumble for pud but will probably succumb

Lemonsole · 09/02/2020 17:27

Toad in the hole, creamy mash and caramelised onion and red wine gravy. Nicely rounds off today's step count of

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 09/02/2020 17:31

Lentil & bacon soup and rye bread. (But ate my own body weight in roast potatoes yesterday and have been hitting the choc fairly heavily this week, so need to feel virtuous about something.)

sawyersfishbiscuits · 09/02/2020 17:33

Cottage pie and veg
Rhubarb pie and ice cream

Growingboys · 09/02/2020 17:36

We had roast chicken followed by sponge pudding and ice cream.

Then I had a nap while the rain lashed against the window panes.

Amazing cosy day of dreams - this is why I love living in England!

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 09/02/2020 17:38

Veggie sausage and onion baguettes for lunch

Seafood risotto with garlic flatbreads for tea followed by rhubarb cobbler and custard.

Diet starts tomorrow......

mamaduckbone · 09/02/2020 17:43

I spent the morning kitchen pottering whilst dh braved ciara to take ds1 to rugby.

Roast beef with all the trimmings for lunch, followed by a Victoria sponge with butter cream and raspberry jam as it's ds1's favourite and they won.

Homemade leek and potato soup is ready for later, with some cheese and biscuits.

It's definitely a day for feeding.

Theroigne · 09/02/2020 17:48

This: www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/lamb-shank-recipes/burns-night-lamb-shanks/#

It was on Jamie and Jimmy’s programme Friday evening and I now have it cooking in the Aga. We’re doing potato and celaríac mash with it though as we had risotto last night. Can’t wait!!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 09/02/2020 18:15

We had smitten kitchen recipe meatloaf with mash and roast veg, really good still one of my favourite cookbooks. For pudding it was homemade honey & tahini cake served warm with vanilla ice cream. I'm absolutely stuffed but will try to make room for a hot cross bun later.

We've lost two fence panels and the only route out of my village is minutes away from flooding so wondering what tomorrow will bring.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 09/02/2020 18:18

Reading this has made me soooo hungry
About 15 minutes till serve up here
