I’d love to live at the seaside

Not at all. But I'm the worst person to.answer this. I find cold beaches/coasts depressing

Keepmewarm · 06/02/2020 12:49

Not often in the summer as it’s full of holiday makers and we can’t take the dog. More in the winter.

MoreHairyThanScary · 06/02/2020 12:51

We live close 5-10 mins away ( depending on beach) .

It depends I know friends who are at the beach 2-3 times a week, often they have dogs or small dc to entertain or walk.

We go more in the spring summer autumn when the weather is better but when kids were younger went quite a bit. It's nice now as dc are confident swimmers and we gave a paddle board so they enjoy that too.

Maria why do

Not as much as l used to when we first moved here. I don't think l was on beach at all last summer unless we had visitors who love it. Still like to sea sea every morning on my way to work though. I'm sure if l had young children l would be on beach more.

thekatydids · 06/02/2020 12:52

Quite often but more out of season when dogs can go.

Pipandmum · 06/02/2020 12:53

I live on an island. I can see the beach fro.m the end of my road and the school. When the kids were little we went quite a bit. Now I go to walk my dogs there but don't go with the kids (teens - they go with their mates but not alot). I think the difference is also if you have to drive, even just ten mi utes, or a short walk to the sea. I went more when could just walk a few minutes.

MrsEvil · 06/02/2020 12:53

I live a 15 min walk from the beach. I go nearly every day in all weathers. But I love walking though and find it very therapeutic.

amaryl · 06/02/2020 12:55

Most days
To walk the dog

Muckycat · 06/02/2020 12:56

How i miss my days living by the sea, I went down to the beach most days, either to look out to sea, swim or sunbathe when the evenings were light. I lived literally a minute away though on foot. Even when I didnt go to the beach, there was nothing like waking up to a glittering or stormy sea view to fill me with joy.

madcatladyforever · 06/02/2020 12:56

I used to live on the coast and although I loved it and was excited about living by the sea I realised that in the course of the year I only went down to the sea twice - because it was there all the time.
I live inland now and around an hour from the cost and now I really enjoy going far more so than when I lived there. It's tragic really.

PortiaCastis · 06/02/2020 12:57

I've lived by the sea all my life and will go to the beach for a walk off season but in summer I'm usually there early Sunday mornings to help with beachcleans, used to be a beach lifeguard so have spent more time there than I care to tot up

madcatladyforever · 06/02/2020 12:57

Also any seaside town is going to be full of nursing homes, retirement homes and the elderly. I like a wide range of people not just one age group and found it incredibly depressing.

Mariagatzs12 · 06/02/2020 12:58

I'm from LA, it's the opposite from what I'm used to and that makes me homesick.

LuluBellaBlue · 06/02/2020 12:59

Oh I so dream of living by the sea!
I love the furthest from the sea that you can in Britain Sad
I just love seeing the ocean in any weather 💛

MrsChanningTatum · 06/02/2020 13:00

I love 5 mins walk from a huge beach. Love being there. I go everyday when I’m not working, so at least 3 or 4 times a week. Go more when I’m on annual leave. A good walk by the sea is good for ones mood.

FthisS · 06/02/2020 13:01

I live in pembrokeshire, beaches in every direction nearest one a 10 min walk away. But we only go in summer and that is to beaches with a complete dog ban.

ImRealHonest · 06/02/2020 13:02

Not at all unless it’s a dog walk down the prom.

FthisS · 06/02/2020 13:02

Meant to add as soon as the weather warms up and the dogs aren't allowed we go to either tenby or whitesands every day after school and on weekends.

ExohExohGossipgirl · 06/02/2020 13:03

Most days of the week after work with the kids and dogs. Its fabulous for destressing. I just find the beach so therapeutic.

dressingfortv · 06/02/2020 13:04

I live a two minute walk from the beach and rarely go unless it's baking hot and I need to cool off.

dressingfortv · 06/02/2020 13:05

We spend days from May-October on boats though so I guess I kind of am.

bellinisurge · 06/02/2020 13:05

I used to. I went a fair bit although only for recreation. I didn't work in tourism. I could hear the sea from my bedroom growing up. I miss it more than I can express. I visit when I can.

pickletickled · 06/02/2020 13:10

I now live about a 45 minute walk from the coast and don't go. Maybe once last summer.
I used to live a 2 minute walk from it and still never went often.
I don't know why not really. It can be nice for a walk but most often it's grey, windy and miserable (NE England)
I'd probably go more if I had a dog to walk.
Abroad I prefer the pool to the beach but do spend a fair amount of time sunbathing, swimming and walking on or along them. It's not the same as home I suppose and the heat helps.
I do think that those of us who live near coasts do take it for granted a little.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 06/02/2020 13:10

Me too lulu I find the sound of the sea so calming
