M&S Chilli Cheese hot cross buns

Oh god. They’re awesome.

I bought a pack at 5pm yesterday. I’ve just eaten the last one. Slightly warmed with cream cheese in (currently mourning the roasted pepper one Philadelphia used to do, that would be amazing in them) and maybe a slice of salami

Consider this a PSA...buy them!!

I saw them yesterday, thought they sounded rank! I obviously misjudged them!

AhoyMrBeaver · 04/02/2020 18:50

They're a dream come true. Proper chilli kick, really tasty cheese, squishy bun...

I eat them neat, straight from the packet to gob Blush

SevenSeasOfRyvita · 04/02/2020 19:04

You've convinced me, I heard about them and mentioned to DH as they sounds right up his street.
I was delighted to find the Blueberry ones were back and have demolished several packs of those.
I don't even like normal hot cross buns so I wait all year for the blueberry or apple ones to come out.
Will definitely try and pick some of these up tomorrow Grin

UGH What a disgusting idea

I like the blueberry and maple syrup ones that Tesco do. And their bramley apple and cinnamon ones.

AhoyMrBeaver · 04/02/2020 20:15

UGH What a disgusting idea

It's just savoury enriched bread. It's not a regular fruited, sweet hot cross bun with cheese and chilli added.

CherryCheezcake · 04/02/2020 20:23

Enquiring minds would like to know, do they have the 'hot cross' spice in, nutmeg/cinnamon etc? Are they sweet? Do they have fruit/mixe peel?

I'm hoping the answer to those is 'no', and they are just bready buns with chilli and cheese in

HeIenaDove · 04/02/2020 20:25

mullerlight are doing limited edition hot cross bun flavour yoghurts.

beanies does hot cross bun flavour coffee.

ItFigures · 04/02/2020 20:27

I saw these the other day. Think I may need them in my life!

popcorndiva · 04/02/2020 20:28

I love their cheese bread. I and my toddler demolished that the other day.

DartmoorChef · 04/02/2020 20:30

Try lidl.. They do one that is lovely and quite spicy.

I need to try these buns, they sound lush.

BeeFarseer · 04/02/2020 20:34

They are just bready buns with chilli and cheese.

No fruit, no hot cross bun spices.

They have that deliciously soft hot cross bun squishy texture though.

Madcats · 04/02/2020 22:25

I've never really bothered with my oven grill. Can I just slice these and whack them in a toaster or is the "cross" a bit cheesy (so liable to set the toaster on fire)?

JoyceDivision · 04/02/2020 22:30

Can we report this thread to get it removed so these remain a secret and don't sell out? Please? Grin

FruityWidow · 04/02/2020 23:36

It's just savoury enriched bread. It's not a regular fruited, sweet hot cross bun with cheese and chilli added.

So not at all like a hot cross bun. Why can't they just name things properly?

BestestBrownies · 04/02/2020 23:46

YABVVVU to gloat about your delicious squishy, cheesy, spicy buns.

They never bother doing anything this exciting gluten free

HeIenaDove · 04/02/2020 23:50

@DartmoorChef i cant stand spicy food but i did notice limited edition jalapeno pepper flavour Philly in my local Tesco

Kinneddar · 05/02/2020 00:00

Ohhh I never realised Hot Cross Buns were back in stock. I LOVE the salted caramel and chocolate ones

youngestisapsycho · 05/02/2020 06:00

The Philadelphia with jalapeños is amaaaazing!

AhoyMrBeaver · 05/02/2020 08:03

It is like a hot cross bun in that it's a bun made of enriched dough with a cross on the top. Variations on a theme are not exactly turning the world upside down.

ClappyFlappy · 05/02/2020 08:05

Oh my god they sound awesome!

I don’t usually like the fancy schmancy HCB flavours I have found them all disappointing but these sound great!

Egghead68 · 05/02/2020 08:10

They had them
Marked down in my branch - obviously not selling. They are good on their own, like doughy cheesy chilli bread. I need to try them toasted with lots of butter next.

LiveatCityHall · 05/02/2020 08:15

These sound wonderful! Theres an m&s across the road from my office. I know where I'm going at lunchtime today 😋

BeyondMyWits · 05/02/2020 08:15

ewww... not hot cross buns... not at all...

Waitrose richly fruited hot cross buns however are PROPER hot cross buns... (IMO)

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 05/02/2020 08:17

JoyceDivision or it’ll make them so popular that they’ll become an all year round thing!

OP posts:
BeeFarseer · 05/02/2020 08:32

They ARE hot cross buns. The texture is spot on. They are a bun with a cross on them, which is enough on its own, but they have that beautiful squishy texture to them.

I have had two for breakfast. I'm going to have to ration them before I turn into one.
