I'm running out of words to describe this liverpool team. I've waited my whole life to see them win the league, and we're going to do it in spectacular fashion. Anyone want to join me? Wine

Bitter Man City fans throwing their toys out of the pram that their state funded oil money couldn't buy them another title?

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 03/02/2020 14:10

No throwing of toys out of the pram here, City have not been good enough this season. That’s it.

However:-

  • Numerous dodgy late penalties given when Liverpool are looking at losing or drawing.
  • Handball law reinterpreted to benefit Liverpool
  • Passback law reinterpreted to benefit Liverpool

So many, many more dodgy VAR decisions that would only ever have gone Liverpool’s way.

I guess there is truth in the story that the FA want a new name on the trophy every couple of years and that’s fair enough, but the blatant bias is staggering.

Oh well, still the other domestic cups to go for, and Pep will completely rebuild over summer and we’ll go again.

Jjou · 03/02/2020 14:14

Rebuild? Chuck another couple of hundred million at it eh?

VAR has screwed us a number of times this season, but I guess that doesn't fit the narrative. We've had about 4 penalties, and none that I can recall being dodgy. So whatever.

Southampton should have had an indirect free kick for a pass back this weekend. That would have made ALL the difference to the gap between LFC and City Hmm

MrsWhites · 03/02/2020 14:42

This VAR nonsense is getting ridiculous now. There are plenty of tables showing how the premier league would look without VAR, Liverpool would still be top of the table by about 15 points if I remember rightly!

Nobody at Liverpool had anything to do with Kompany not being replaced before the start of the season or Laporte being injured...nothing to do with VAR, city just haven’t been good enough defensively this season!

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 03/02/2020 14:43

VAR has definitely thrown up some dodgy decisions for most teams. I can't see Liverpool being favoured. FIrmino was pushed down in the box for a clear penalty on Saturday and we didn't get it awarded.

Re: penalties. Man U have had the most awarded (9), Man City have had 6, and Liverpool 5...

In conclusion: Toys. Pram. Waaahhhhh

MrsWhites · 03/02/2020 15:03

@Shesellsseashellsontheseashore absolutely right! Firmino has been robbed a couple of times this season....this weekend, against Man Utd and not forgetting the offside armpit incident!

InOtterNews · 03/02/2020 15:04

I only started to believe that it's our year just before Christmas. Up until that point, I was definitely looking through my fingers as the results came in, in case we slipped.

I started supporting LFC when I was 6 years old having moved to the UK in 1981 from the home of total football. I didn't speak any English and only chose them because they played in Red (and happened to be on TV when I was watching).

Klopp seems like an amazing manager, not just tactically, but pastorally to. He cares about his team and their well-being. He seems like a thoroughly nice chap all around.

Re PPs comments about decisions - remember Man U hey-day and Fergie time. So pot kettle etc

Jjou · 03/02/2020 15:11

For me I think the Leicester game on Boxing Day was when I started to think we could really do it. Even now though I'm not taking it as a done deal! Football is funny, it's easy to suddenly lose control in a game and for the result to not go your way. City were all over Spurs yesterday, and then a tactical foul by a player on a yellow card, down to 10 men, followed by a quick goal, and the game completely turned. You can't take anything for granted.

IamaBluebird · 03/02/2020 15:17

Liverpool have been outstanding and totally deserve the title. Theyve played some lovely football. Does make me laugh when I'm in work and hear people say I hope us Scouse beat you Mancs and they have never been near Liverpool or Manchester in their lives. Football

Foxes157 · 03/02/2020 15:17

I'm glad Liverpool will probably get the title, but as a Leicester fan we'll be rooting for another champions League campaign.

And the best team of the generation has to be our team of 15/16, from rock bottom to winning the premier League by 20 points in bearly 15 months. A team of free transfers, cheap players hardly the same class as VVD and the world class players of Liverpool this year.

Jjou · 03/02/2020 15:23

Leicester winning the title the other year was incredible, I was made up for them. I think they'll finish in the top 4 and get another crack at CL football - they're a much stronger side this season than Man U, Arsenal or Chelsea and playing much better stuff too.

ginrummy1 · 03/02/2020 15:27

I can remember way back in October not quite believing were 8 points clear, to now be 22 is something else.
He's def a god in this house

Redshoeblueshoe · 03/02/2020 15:40

I love JK, I would love to see Lucy Meacock interview him, as she clearly loves him too.
I replaced a baby photo for one of Klopp. It took my DH a week to notice Grin
Now he's put it on the wall - and he's a ManU fan Shock

DaanSaaf · 03/02/2020 16:05

@Jjou here's the current premier league with var decisions corrected. Still think it's tainted?

Do you have time to talk about our lord and saviour, Jurgen Klopp?
OP posts:
Jjou · 03/02/2020 16:10

@DaanSaaf - what?! I'm a Liverpool fan! I don't think it's tainted. My ESPN link was for EdersonsSmileyTattoo and the other hard-of-thinking football fans who believe all the LiVARpool bollox.

Jjou · 03/02/2020 16:12

Brighton have benefited the most from VAR this season, but nobody mentions it, because they're not in danger of relegation, and not setting the top of the league alight either.

DaanSaaf · 03/02/2020 16:48

So sorry @Jjou, I meant to tag @EdersonsSmileyTattoo Blush

ddraigygoch · 03/02/2020 17:54

Stuff like this really brings home the fact that this could happen....by I can't quite believe it yet.

Do you have time to talk about our lord and saviour, Jurgen Klopp?
DaanSaaf · 03/02/2020 18:10

The stats are absolutely ridiculous, i can't get enough of them! I like his one...

Maths isn’t my strong point, I get all worried & start thinking of all the possible disasters that could happen, drives me too drink🤪

Patroclus · 03/02/2020 18:55

His geggenpress and high line are always going to mean the referee and VAR will be heavily involved with off balance tackles and close offsides.

Its ridiculous to pretend Pep isnt great as well- hes changed the way the whole game is played and he won all those trophies when there were plenty of strong, very rich rivals, his only weakness is a few dodgy signings every now and then.

British managers really cant compete at the moment and its embarrassing. eg. West Ham are currently hilarious

PunishmentSnart · 03/02/2020 18:59

We have a photo of Klopp on top of our tree Grin
