How old is your Dualit?

Just musing over a cuppa in the kitchen and I've calculated that our Dualit toaster, kettle and scales are at least 16 years old. Anyone beat that?

I will have had my toaster for 20 years this summer.
I do wonder how much longer it will go on for??

TantricTwist · 01/02/2020 11:23

Yes my dualit toaster is about 20 years old too Shock

Dementedswan · 01/02/2020 11:25

My dualit toaster is 14

Nofilter · 01/02/2020 11:26

12 years on the toaster and I replaced the kettle after 10 because of limescale..

Would never use anything else!

AvocadoAdvocate · 01/02/2020 11:26

I felt very extravagant when I bought ours, but they last forever don't they!?

My parents bought a dualit toaster and it didn’t even last two years! Not sure what went wrong there?!

AvocadoAdvocate · 01/02/2020 11:30

Why didn't you descale your kettle?

Got our toaster as a wedding present in 1998. Replaced one of elements 2 years ago Grin

ChateauMyself · 01/02/2020 11:32

The toaster’s about 18yrs old.

It’s a lever arm type - the one you can send back for repair.

Ours lasted 4 yrs Sad

AvocadoAdvocate · 01/02/2020 11:33

My parents bought a dualit toaster and it didn’t even last two years! Not sure what went wrong there?! Was that relatively recently Beanie? I'm not sure the current Dualit range is as good quality as the old stuff.

Kettle and toaster are 14 years old but both are beginning to take longer to do their thing! Was just thinking today that I might use the amazon voucher we got for Christmas to replace them. Bet whatever I bought wouldn't last as long though Hmm

Paddy1234 · 01/02/2020 11:34

20 years here!

Aragog · 01/02/2020 11:34

Think we have had our toaster for about 15 years or so now. Just wish we'd bought the 4 slice one, as that would be better really - but I don't want to replace the one we have when there is nothing wrong with it!

AvocadoAdvocate · 01/02/2020 11:36

Looks like lots of you celebrated the millennium by buying Dualit appliances!Grin

I'm not sure exactly how old mine is. It belonged to a family member who passed it on to me, they definitely had it when I was 10 and it wasn't new then. I went to stay with them and we stuck stickers on the sides. So it's over thirty years old, we replaced two elements a couple of years ago.

AvocadoAdvocate · 01/02/2020 11:38

Oh Aragog, you should have got the 4 slice one! Here's my holy trinity....

My potato masher, colander, fish slice, slotted spoon and cutlery are all 67 years old. They were my Grandparents wedding gifts Smile

DeathByPuppy · 01/02/2020 11:45

Toaster is about 15, maybe slightly older. It’s one of the ‘classic’ ones, 4 slice, all metal. I don’t think the cheaper plastic and metal ones are as robust.

Aragog · 01/02/2020 11:49

AvocadoAdvocate I know but at the time we only had a small kitchen area and not much work space, so got what worked at the time. But now I can't bring myself to replace something that works perfectly! Oh well, dd leaves home for university soon - maybe we can donate ours to her and treat ourselves to a new one!

AvocadoAdvocate · 01/02/2020 12:02

Vimes’ Boot theory of Economics at work. precisely. However, sod's law says that by starting this thread my toaster and kettle will expire this weekend!

OP posts:
BigPinkFlower · 01/02/2020 13:00

Toaster 30 years in may
Blender at least 25 years

FeetZelet · 01/02/2020 13:10

My 2 slice plus sandwich slot is 23 years old in May. Saved up for it at the time and it felt really extravagant to buy but still love it dearly & would definitely buy another if it ever does expire 🙂

Tootyfilou · 01/02/2020 13:20

Toaster 24 years old.
