Bedroom trends over the years

During my lack of sleep last night I started to remember the bedroom decor over the years - any one else recognise these? I had the wallpaper, bedding and ornaments all over my room
First off was Holly Hobby, a young girl wearing a large blue fluffy hat and patchwork dress
Then I evolved to Victoria Plum, a character with a flower on her head
A Pierrot clown phase - a scary black and white clown - wallpaper and even toiletry holders
Rosebuds over everything. Had my sons Moses basket covered with this fabric so he would match my bedding, wallpaper and make up brush holder. Marks and spencer blamed for this one
Then the celestial phase. Even had candlesticks and vases with this

I had holly hobby, snatch the dog, and I went through a phase of everything Garfield. Like, everything, bedding, curtains, wallpaper, even a phone.
Then I had a pink flowery theme that I picked out of freeman’s catalogue. It had a canopy.

@30not13 Im here. Sitting on my groovy chick bed trying to plait my hair with the babyliss braid machine and nearly ripping my fringe off Grin

I’ve had a yellow bedroom for many years now (Difference rooms and paint obviously). It’s a lovely cheery colour to wake up to.

I used to have a duvet with a map of the world on, it had the USSR and East/West Germany on it!
My sister use to have her walls painted blue on the bottom half and yellow on the top.

I went from My Little Pony to Forever Friends. I still have a FF bear and a few bits and pieces tucked away!

Coming on to the thread to say I watched an episode of signs of the times on iPlayer recommended earlier on this thread. It was the best thing I've seen in ages! Unintentionally hilarious, class obsessed, thank you whoever it was who suggested it.

I had woodchip wallpaper until I was 8 which I picked at while lying in bed then I had rosebud wallpaper on the top half with matching border, and a stripy rosebud wallpaper on the bottom half.

My friend had a blue theme with yellow suns, moons and stars. It was popular in the 90s and I was so jealous because I thought it looked really cool and grown up compared to mine.

When I was perhaps 3 my parents decorated my bedroom with Joe wallpaper. For those who don’t know Joe, this is him.

I had the best Fred basset set with duvet and a bedspread. At the end of the bedspread was a scottie dog and I credit that for my love of them later in life.

Just before Christmas argos put up a Web page with copies of all its catalogues from early seventies onwards and I found my set in about 1977.

I always wanted a them of some sort but I had a tiny cold box room with painted wood chip. Then layer two patterns with a border. When selling my dad regretted the wood chip in every room, hall stairs and landing as the stuff doesn’t come off. It’s especially hard to remove with 6 coats of paint. We actually wrote on the wall under the new paper ‘don’t ever put woodchip on these walls’

I always hated the master bedroom units that came up from bedside units then across the wall above the bed. I always had the fear they’d fall down in the night and kill the people sleeping below.

I still have that wham mirror with the kisses on it (in a box in the basement, not on my wall obvs) Blush

I had thelwell (comical ponies) wallpaper to start with, also Pierrot clown stuff and floral, then went red and white everything in the 80s Grin

RightOnTheEdge · 01/02/2020 23:50

Omg I went through the sun, moon and stars phase 😂
I also had red, black and grey I think.
My sister had a pink Snatch the dog theme.

JaneDarcy · 01/02/2020 23:52

I had Care Bears. And pink wood chip wall paper. Then I graduated to yellow wallpaper on top, yellow and orange border halfway down and yellow and orange stripes. Nobody has mentioned those yet!

HarrietSchulenberg · 02/02/2020 00:26

I had a Sara Kay duvet set and a pink rosebud set. Both were bought for my new "continental quilt" when we moved house in 1979. The Sara Kay one featured Holly Hobbyesque characters, one of which was reading a magazine called Gay Times!
