I seem to .ha.ve a super power - do you have one

So yesterday my carer and I were discussing him getting a kindle. I have 2 working kindles and I suggested he get them both to look at the features / size / weight.

He was convinced they were identical so, to solve the issue he weighed them both.

I was right. One kindle is 3g lighter than the other.

So I seem to have a superpower of noticing when things are slightly lighter/heavier.

What power(s) do you have?

I can make a blotchy red rash appear on my throat and upper chest just by thinking about it. As superpowers go, it's not really in the higher echelons, but it's all I have!

WarmSausageTea · 30/01/2020 11:56

I can spot when things are off-centre or wonky, even if by a tiny amount.

I used to be able to tell, by feel, £5 in silver or £1 in copper (bank cashier back in the day), but couldn't now.

Not exactly Marvel levels of super-heroism... Grin

I can interrupt electricals when I'm angry. DP insists on playing music in the kitchen, to the point where I can't hear myself think. Walking past it in a fury is usually enough to interrupt it, whether its CD or radio.

I could smell sugar in hot drinks. If I couldn’t remember if I’d sugared or not or remember which was which it was useful! Neither my husband or I take sugar now so I haven’t tried it for years.

Alpacathebag · 30/01/2020 12:27

@mrsagassi I can do that too, and spot if something has moved slightly.

managedmis · 30/01/2020 12:29

I can pick exactly the right sized container to hold liquid. I never waste a drop and it fits exactly.

longwayoff · 30/01/2020 12:33

I can look at a slice of bread and put on 1lb in weight. 2lbs for slice of cake. BahAngry

MrsPerfect12 · 30/01/2020 12:38

I have super sonic hearing. I can hear those high pitch plugs that are to deter rodents and I can also pass the hearing tests that only children are supposed to be able to hear.

polkadotpixie · 30/01/2020 12:46

I can pretty much always guess someone's shoe size by looking at their feet. Comes from running a shoe shop for several years so not really a superpower but I still think it's cool

sashh · 30/01/2020 13:29

Oh I can smell sugar in drinks.

We need to form some sort of superhero club / society for when people need hell with straightening pictures, not remembering the sugar and weighing small things.

I’m very accurate when estimating liquid volumes 💪🏽 But it hasn’t really helped me or anyone else so far

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 30/01/2020 13:34

I can cut block cheese into very precise amounts. 250g of cheddar, madam? No problem. You might occasionally be unlucky and get 249g or 251g, but that's only if I'm having an off day.

Sandsnake · 30/01/2020 13:34

I can tell the time, often to the minute, without checking. Surprised that Marvel haven’t given me my own film trilogy...Grin

Jarviscockup · 30/01/2020 13:35

My super power is waking up every morning precisely one minute before the alarm is due to go off 😩

NC4Now · 30/01/2020 13:35

I can estimate the price of a checkout load of groceries to within £2-3.

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 30/01/2020 13:37

I can hear electric buzzing in things that are plugged in but not in use.
I can hear the toothbrush charger in the bathroom from my bed and the phone chargers, that's really annoying when I need to charge my phone over night.

HavelockVetinari · 30/01/2020 13:37

@MrsPerfect12 I think that's quite common, I'm 35 and can still hear stuff like that. I wonder whether it'll go as we age!

DustyOwl · 30/01/2020 13:38

I look good in any hat. My friend says that's my super power, it's quite niche.

8by8 · 30/01/2020 13:38

I can voluntarily make myself very pale by thinking about pulling all the blood away from my face. Came in handy when I didn’t want to do tests in school and could get sent to the nurse whenever I wanted. Not sure it has any other practical application.

IdblowJonSnow · 30/01/2020 13:41

Erm, I can make myself sick really easily just by thinking about grim foods. Nice!
I am very sensitive to others moods but I generally think that's common sense and most people are emotionally dim on this front.

iklboo · 30/01/2020 13:41

I can make myself sick to order - also handy for getting out of school back in the day. I just sort of relax something in my gullet and 'bleurgh'.

I can instantly get a complete stranger to tell me about their life just by being near them in a queue, restaurant etc without opening my mouth beyond banal small talk.

madeleineinlondon · 30/01/2020 13:42

I can cure my own hiccups by thinking about how much I don’t want to have hiccups any more. Can also do it to other people’s hiccups if they’ll let me.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 30/01/2020 13:45

My sense of direction. Even on London Underground!

AwkwardPaws27 · 30/01/2020 13:52

I am "Find It Girl".

DH can spend ages unsuccessfully looking for something*, then when I walk in the room I just see it.

*Tbh, this may say more about DH than me...

Andromache77 · 30/01/2020 13:54

I heal very well after injuries or surgery, with less than average pain and no complications. I'm like the middle aged mumsy equivalent of Wolverine, except I do get scars. Oh, and I also have next to no wrinkles (I'm guessing that the two are related).
