I was getting the shopping out of the boot earlier, lifted a crate of water out with one hand and felt a horrible sensation in the muscle round my shoulder.
It sort of 'popped' then I felt a burning sensation, followed by agony.

I've tried ice, heat, ibuprofen and co-codamol (30/500 that I'm prescribed for another problem) but nothing is touching it.
I went to put some voltarol gel on the area but touching it is agony.

It's been 7 hours now and I can't move my arm properly without pain shooting around the area.

Anyone got any ideas? I'm going to ring the GP in the morning for an appointment but I am not looking forward to sleeping tonight.
I haven't even been able to get pyjamas on because I can't lift my arm Sad

Please tell me it's nothing serious (I know you can't, but anyway...)

Ooh, I had something similar - honestly I dropped to the floor with the pain. That was 8 years ago and I still don't have full range of movement in my right shoulder without pain. My husband driving me to the hospital on bumpy roads was an experience I will never forget. Mine was something to do with tendons - calcium deposits seen on ultrasound, they were shifting around. I'm a bit vague about the actual diagnosis as I was trying to communicate with a hospital doctor in a language I'm not fluent in. Good luck.

Handmaid2019 · 28/01/2020 22:51

Good luck OP. I'm a nurse and we really don't mind people coming to a&e to get checked out Thanks

Hippopotas · 28/01/2020 22:56

Good luck op

long story but i dislocated my shoulder years ago didnt get medical treatment for a week by then they had to operate to get my shoulder back in hurts a lot still so always best to get these things checked out

PickleMyPepper · 29/01/2020 10:31

Hi everyone.

Sorry I didn't get back to you last night, it was mad once I got to the hospital.
I dislocated my shoulder and tore the rotator cuff.

Had to be sedated whilst they moved my arm around in circles to put it back into place, which was a pain I can never, ever forget Envy, and I'm now in a sling whilst waiting for it to settle.
Got to go back in 2 weeks to have an MRI and look into the possibility of surgery.

For now I'm off my tits on tramadol so I don't really care, but when they wear off Sad

Thank you for all your messages.

I’m so glad you went, but sorry this was the outcome.

It screamed dislocation to me, shockingly easily down too.

InglouriousBasterd · 29/01/2020 10:43

Oh you poor thing! Shoulder pain is like nothing else. Rest up Flowers

caffeinefix · 29/01/2020 10:54

Oh god you poor thing! Shoulder pain knocks me sick. I hope you feel better soon - keep on top of the tramadol Thanks

NameChange789435 · 29/01/2020 11:04

Bloody hell OP! I came back to check having seen this last night. You must have some pain threshold to have lasted as long as you did!

So sorry, what a nasty injury just from going about your normal day. Rest up, hope you feel better soon Flowers

Sexnotgender · 29/01/2020 11:10

Ouch!!!!

Glad you got checked out.

TheNoiseHurts · 29/01/2020 11:14

Fuck!! I can't believe such damage can happen so easily!

You poor sod, I hope you heal well and don't need surgery.

Haggisfish · 29/01/2020 11:17

Oh good lord you poor thing! Good job you went in.

damnthatanxiety · 29/01/2020 11:18

Bum, so sorry. At least you know what you are dealing with. I hope the process goes quickly.

slipperywhensparticus · 29/01/2020 11:19

Bad joke anyone?

A man was having his dislocated shoulder put right and was causing a fuss screaming and saying it hurt the nurse told him a woman on the labour ward had just had a baby and made less fuss than him he replied "have you tried putting it back in?"

Sympathy op at least you have some pain meds now 💐

Fedupandpoor · 29/01/2020 11:22

Oooh sorry op! That sounds painful Flowers

You are a hero though, ex DP had chronic shoulder instability and whenever it popped out he would be writhing around the floor in pain, I mean proper screams and tears. I wonder do people feel the pain differently? (or ex was just a wimp)

PickleMyPepper · 29/01/2020 11:32

Thank you for all your messages. Flowers

I must admit, I was surprised when she said it was dislocated because I was imagining screaming and crying.
There was tears, yelping and swearing when she put it back in though - even with sedation.

I've broken bones before but that was something else.
All because of some water bottles. In future, DP will be doing all of the shopping and unpacking.

Hey ho, I'm alive. That's all that matters!
