I was getting the shopping out of the boot earlier, lifted a crate of water out with one hand and felt a horrible sensation in the muscle round my shoulder.
It sort of 'popped' then I felt a burning sensation, followed by agony.

I've tried ice, heat, ibuprofen and co-codamol (30/500 that I'm prescribed for another problem) but nothing is touching it.
I went to put some voltarol gel on the area but touching it is agony.

It's been 7 hours now and I can't move my arm properly without pain shooting around the area.

Anyone got any ideas? I'm going to ring the GP in the morning for an appointment but I am not looking forward to sleeping tonight.
I haven't even been able to get pyjamas on because I can't lift my arm Sad

Please tell me it's nothing serious (I know you can't, but anyway...)

You need an x-ray.
Go to A&E.

longtimelurkerhelen · 28/01/2020 21:25

Rotator cuff is really painful, I did mine taking my fat bastard cat to the vet.

CormoranStrike · 28/01/2020 21:26

I’d go in!

I would just go. It can take hours to get a call back then they'll send you along anyway.

Itswrongtowishonspacehardware · 28/01/2020 21:34

You need to go in case it's dislocated. Good luck.

RebelWithVerySharpClaws · 28/01/2020 21:34

Go to A&E. When I have been to GP with a shoulder injury they sent me straight to A&E.

dappledsunshine · 28/01/2020 21:38

You could be waiting hours for 111 to ring and they'll probably direct you to A&E anyway, an out of hours doctor can examine you but unlikely to have access to X-ray if needed. I'd head straight to A&E if I were you op.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 28/01/2020 21:42

Last time i phoned 111 they didnt call bacl until the next morning
You need A&E

caffeinefix · 28/01/2020 21:43

A&E pronto, OP!

TheNoiseHurts · 28/01/2020 21:50

That sounds bastard painful.

Wouldn't it have been a deep clunk type noise if it dislocated?

Can shoulders really dislocate that easily?!

I hope you get yourself sorted OP.

I read about frozen shoulder on here recently, I'm guessing that's not it?

mummymayhem18 · 28/01/2020 21:57

Sounds very painful. Hope you get sorted x

PickleMyPepper · 28/01/2020 22:16

On the way to A&E now.

I tried to get comfortable in bed but it was basically impossible, moved gently to rearrange my pillow and felt something drop round my shoulder, like a movement - made me physically sick because of the pain.

Awful, bastard injury.
Thank you for your messages.

I'm hoping they'll knock me out before touching it EnvySad

TheNoiseHurts · 28/01/2020 22:17

Ah yeah, trying to lay down. Fuck.

I hope you're ok OP and the wait isn't too long.

RiftGibbon · 28/01/2020 22:21

Hope you get it sorted OP.
A friend of mine fell in the street in early Dec and hurt a shoulder. After an hour of pain went to A&E (very difficult as friend is Autistic and struggles with such places). It took a further 6 hours to be investigated, and friend had to be sedated to allow them to put shoulder bacj into place. Friends is still having problems with movement.

RiftGibbon · 28/01/2020 22:22

Sorry about typos, hopefully it makes sense.

TheGinGenie · 28/01/2020 22:24

Glad you're going to A&E, I'd go so they can give you something stronger for the pain, if nothing else! Hope you get sorted soon

InglouriousBasterd · 28/01/2020 22:24

I did this and had torn the rotator cuff. Identical pain. Hope they see you soon Flowers

Gazelda · 28/01/2020 22:28

Good decision OP. Hope you're seen quickly and soon feeling more comfortable.

Hefzi · 28/01/2020 22:29

If it is dislocated, OP, having it put back in will reduce the pain enormously almost immediately (though it will be a bit sore for a while, as it wasn't put straight back in - but it won't be vomit-inducing pain, just a bit tender). With a bit of luck, this is what it is - rotator cuff is a different kettle of fish, unfortunately.

Guacamole · 28/01/2020 22:31

Good luck OP. Doesn’t quite sound like a dislocation to me, because you implied you could move it (painfully), when I dislocated mine I literally couldn’t move it, hopefully it is though because they’ll be able to pop it right back in and the pain will subside.

castlesfromtherubble · 28/01/2020 22:34

Fuck that sounds utterly horrific. I remember vomit-inducing pain from when I dislocated my knee cap whilst running.

Hope you get it sorted ASAP Thanks also hope they give you ALL the drugs

Belle89 · 28/01/2020 22:36

Good luck xx

PointlessUsername · 28/01/2020 22:40

Sounds awful. Good Luck at the Hospital op Flowers

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 28/01/2020 22:41

Ouch. Good luck OP, hope they reduce your pain ASAP.

Confuddledtown · 28/01/2020 22:50

Good luck
