I was getting the shopping out of the boot earlier, lifted a crate of water out with one hand and felt a horrible sensation in the muscle round my shoulder.
It sort of 'popped' then I felt a burning sensation, followed by agony.

I've tried ice, heat, ibuprofen and co-codamol (30/500 that I'm prescribed for another problem) but nothing is touching it.
I went to put some voltarol gel on the area but touching it is agony.

It's been 7 hours now and I can't move my arm properly without pain shooting around the area.

Anyone got any ideas? I'm going to ring the GP in the morning for an appointment but I am not looking forward to sleeping tonight.
I haven't even been able to get pyjamas on because I can't lift my arm Sad

Please tell me it's nothing serious (I know you can't, but anyway...)

Oh no, hoping I was wrong and it was just a dislocation, not both. Sad

Broken bones hurt less than tendon damage for some unknown reason (medical minds could inform us, if there are any here)

At least you have tramadol Grin

Hope you feel better soon. Flowers & Chocolate

iMatter · 29/01/2020 15:39

I hope you're much more comfortable very soon.

Every sympathy to you - injuries like that are just awfulThanks

Northernsoullover · 29/01/2020 15:45

Ouch. That sounds awful. I'm glad you went.

My dh used to pop his back in himself ( it happened 4/5 times)

I think it can happen quite easily again once it has been out

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 29/01/2020 15:48

Nothing to say except oh shit. I hope you get it treated soon.

Confuddledtown · 29/01/2020 16:03

That sound horrific. Hope you feel better soon

Kahlua4me · 29/01/2020 17:12

Ouch, one of those would be bad enough but both at once must be unbearable..

My dh has just had the op to repair his rotator cuff. It’s his second op as had the other one repaired last year. Doctor used a new treatment this time and the recovery has been much quicker and less painful so hopefully you will get the new treatment. When you do have the op though make sure you follow the physio regime to the letter as it’s the only way to get a compete recovery.

Wishing you well.

leeloo1 · 01/02/2020 13:28

@PickleMyPepper - be cautious with tramadol, my dh had it a few years ago and when he came off it he was suicidal with misery - apparently this, and quick addition, are quite common side effects.

Oh God, really? I'm concerned now. I've only got a couple of days worth left - should I see a dr?

Short term use shouldn't be too bad to stop the tramadol, it's when your body has a dependence on it that the withdrawal is quite bad. Just make sure you have over the counter painkillers for the pain.

How are you feeling now? Hope you are at least comfortable.

PickleMyPepper · 01/02/2020 22:51

Ah thank you @longtimelurkerhelen
I have prescription strength co-codamol and ibuprofen, just hoping that'll be enough.

I'm comfortable with the tramadol, but very concerned about the pain when that runs out.

It will be better enough by then for paracetamol which is a bloody good painkiller alternated with ibuprofen.
