Apparently 'riband' is the English pronunciation, and 'ribbon' the US pronunciation.

UAintMyMuvva · 27/01/2020 18:25

I honestly always thought they were called Blue Ribbons. Don’t think I ever looked at the packaging properly.

ItsGoingTibiaK · 27/01/2020 18:26

Why would you say ‘ribbon’? It’s pronounced ‘ribbund’.

WellTidy · 27/01/2020 18:29

Blue riband, the biscuit to beat the blues. I got those, can’t get enough of those, blues

ItsGoingTibiaK · 27/01/2020 18:31

Apparently 'riband' is the English pronunciation, and 'ribbon' the US pronunciation.

It's pronounced 'ribbund' on both sides of Atlantic. Here's an American dictionary, with pronunciation:

heymammy · 27/01/2020 18:32

It's a BlueRiBAND, pronounced almost as one word with the stress on the 'band' part

Rib-band

Why would it be ribbon?

bsc · 27/01/2020 18:38

Because it comes from Cordon Bleu which means a blue ribbon.

ActualHornist · 27/01/2020 18:38

Blue Ribbond. Ribbon with a d on the end.

ofwarren · 27/01/2020 18:39
