Washing period knickers

twosoups1972 · 27/01/2020 11:30

Have washed and re-washed and can't get rid of the red stain (sorry TMI). Dd not keen on using them again while they're like this.

Any tips how to get the stain out please?

You probably can't get the stain out of these ones. In future make sure you rinse them immediately first in cold water. Tbh I would just wear the stained ones.

cuckooken · 27/01/2020 11:35

She will have to get used to it. It's part of life I'm afraid. Did it never happen to you?

Apolloanddaphne · 27/01/2020 11:37

My DD has dark coloured old pants she uses when she is on her period.

Any blood stained knickers I soak in cold water and scrub with bar soap. I have never failed to get a stain out.

twosoups1972 · 27/01/2020 11:37

What do you mean happen to me @cuckooken We've just started using them. I was just surprised the stain still shows on black.

Sorry for confusion, these are actual period knickers you wear without a pad as opposed to just dark coloured knickers!

What do you mean happen to me @cuckooken* *

I mean exactly what I posted. 'Did it never happen to you?' Why would that question need an explanation Confused

MyuMe · 27/01/2020 11:40

Urgh.

Just buy cheap ones to wear during a period and if you leak and it won't come off they go in the bin.

Would you wear underwear with skid marks that won't come off?

Wearing stained underwear is grim

CourtneyB123 · 27/01/2020 11:40

Soak in cold salt water, rinse stain and throw in washing machine. Always works with me if they havent been left too long without being soaked

CourtneyB123 · 27/01/2020 11:42

Or just do a primark haul of cheap knickers so they can be thrown if stained

twosoups1972 · 27/01/2020 11:43

@MyuMe these are (expensive) period knickers worn without a pad.

I don't know why everyone is suggesting wearing cheap knickers that can be disposed of. The whole point of these is to avoid using disposable pads and reduce waste and landfill!

Oh that's surprising. DD has black modibodi knickers and we have never had a problem. After the first few washes when we did them separately now she just soaks them in cold water then chucks them in a mixed wash with everything else. Maybe a soak?

cuckooken · 27/01/2020 11:44

Perhaps because it wasn't clear from the OP that you meant specific period pants. People are actually just trying to help.

okiedokieme · 27/01/2020 11:46

Rinse in cold then throw in the washing machine, mine are modibodi which aren't cheap but they aren't visibly stained after a year of use

Morgan12 · 27/01/2020 11:46

Aye ok moody. It wasn't clear in your first message.

MyuMe · 27/01/2020 11:49

@twosoups1972 it isn't working if they stain and your dd is refusing to wear them.

mumwon · 27/01/2020 11:50

don't use salt it is used to hold colours - have bucket put pants in with detergent & cold water for a hour or so than rinse in cold water to get of most of blood & scrub with soap in cold water = I always had bad blood loss & this cleaned pants - wear dark brown or other dark colour pants

MyuMe · 27/01/2020 11:51

So you just wear the knickers all day without changing?

I couldn't wear soiled underwear all day without being able to change.

HereWeStand · 27/01/2020 11:53

I rinse in cold water and use some Vanish Gold gel on anything stubborn. Works wonders

Sparklyring · 27/01/2020 11:54

These sound horrendous! You wear the same pair of knickers which soak up period blood throughout the full day?! Surely a moon cup is more comfortable and hygienic and just as eco friendly?

HeyMac · 27/01/2020 11:55

I thought the OP was really clear- period knickers are well advertised now.

OP just try putting them out on the line. Sun, even in winter will help bleach it out. As you wear them it will eventually come out.

Next time try rinsing them under cold water first when you take them off.

sydenhamhiller · 27/01/2020 11:55

Yes, cold water and vanish gel/ vanish bar!

AlunWynsKnee · 27/01/2020 11:57

How are you washing them? Dd's come up fine going through a 40 wash (no fabric conditioner). They are the WKUA ones.

NewYoiker · 27/01/2020 12:01

I love my modi bodis! Won't be using pads any more! I've going from 2 x nights pass 5 x a day to changing my pants three times a day, morning, after work and bed time.

Besidesthepoint · 27/01/2020 12:02

Next time buy them in black.
