How warm is your house?

I'm currently sitting in my noticeably chilly sitting room, cuddling the dog and resisting putting the heating on.

According to the thermometer, it's 16°C in here. It usually hovers around 18°C, which I find comfortable, but we've had the window open.
This might not be particularly astonishing, but I usually find other people's homes far, far too warm. So I was idly wondering what kind of temperature others prefer to heat their homes to.

19 degrees C in the hallway = about 20 in the lounge. I need a cardi on when sitting down in the evening. I don't like it to be much warmer than that, and DC still lounge about in t shirts at that temperature so I think it's OK.

Elouera · 26/01/2020 14:44

OH would be happy at 16-18, I like it 20-21. Our compromise is around 20' with him sitting in boxers and me in jumper, fleecy trousers, socks and a vest underneath!

JigsawsAreInPieces · 26/01/2020 14:45

Lounge is currently 16°c and the hall is about 13°c. We prefer to put on a jumper if we're chilly really before cranking up the thermostat!

Ohyesiam · 26/01/2020 14:48

I like my house quite cool compared to many, currently about 16 degrees. I’d rather have two layers of wool than warm air, which makes me feel sleepy and claustrophobic.

DesLynamsMoustache · 26/01/2020 14:50

19 or so in living spaces during the day. 18 in bedrooms.

CobbleDePook · 26/01/2020 14:52

AC is set to 27 but it felt a bit cold and wasteful, so just the fan now.

chesterfuckingdrorrs · 26/01/2020 14:54

Currently 15 degrees. It's cool but doesn't feel cold.

Heating just been turned on to 18 which is fine for pottering about it will be turned up to 20/22 in the evening depending how cold a night it is

lifeisgoodmostofthetime · 26/01/2020 14:59

Usually around 24. I'll still use a blanket whilst I'm lounging. We like it hot

bellinisurge · 26/01/2020 14:59

We only have the heat in first thing in tbe morning and briefly around DD's bedtime. We have a log fire/stove thing in the living room and light that up from about 5.30 - 9.30.
I also have the menopause to overheat me randomly Grin

Cockadoodledooo · 26/01/2020 15:05

16 at the moment. Doesn't feel too cold, but that temp feels utterly freezing when I get home from work during the week and I have to keep my coat on.

TheChosenTwo · 26/01/2020 15:11

Thermometer is currently reading 24 in the room in in, 23 in the kitchen next door and 25 in the hallway.
I’m just about to light the fire, I like it really warm and I’m still sat with a blanket on me! Not because I’m cold but because I like being cosy Grin

Lipperfromchipper · 26/01/2020 15:14

Ours is set to a constant 20 but it is highly insulated and air tight that it is usually higher and so the heating is actually rarely on.

Newmetoday · 26/01/2020 15:14

21 at least. Hate being cold and grew up cold as my mother didn’t feel it. I won’t ever subject my son to that. It was horrible

Minai · 26/01/2020 15:16

19.5-21ish here. We are a mid terrace warm house so the heating isn’t on a huge amount. I grew up in a freezing cold house and I feel the cold very badly so I like to have it warm.

RefuseTheLies · 26/01/2020 15:18

20 in the daytime. 18 overnight.

GruciusMalfoy · 26/01/2020 15:20

The hall is 18, so the living room is probably around 18.5-19°. It's comfortable, I'm wearing slippers, long trousers and a short sleeved top and don't feel at all chilly.

RubyandMax · 26/01/2020 15:20

Around 20/21 usually. The house heats up fast and keeps it's heat well though.

Asdf12345 · 26/01/2020 15:20

15ish most of the day. Comes up to 17-19 morning and evening with an hour of heating. The kitchen sits at about 20 but has the Rayburn running all winter.

The parts of the house we don’t really use are run at about 12.

ClientListQueen · 26/01/2020 15:20

16-18c for me

bellinisurge · 26/01/2020 15:24

Currently have a cat sitting on my chest keeping me warm - window is open after dh did some hoovering. It's about 18 degrees anywhere that doesn't have a cat on it.

owl89 · 26/01/2020 15:28

We keep the house nice and toasty at 22 for the small children. Plus I love a warm house Smile

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 26/01/2020 15:28

It's 25 degrees in my house, I think it's roo warm, 19/20 is optimal.

But dh has the flu and is freezing, he's wearing a fleecey tracksuit and is wrapped in a duvet and cuddling a hot water bottle, heating is on, upstairs will be much warmer 😒

I'm very very warm, but not too uncomfortable yet, I can deal it over his shaking and telling me how cold he is every 15 minutes 😂 wimp.

wonderstuff · 26/01/2020 15:39

21-22 while we're up, drops to about 16 overnight. Hate being cold, I'm wearing a jumper even with it that warm.

ch3y · 26/01/2020 15:43

I like my house hot. Usually on 25 sometimes even 30 degrees. If I'm only in the living room I'll stick the gas fire on.

QueSera · 26/01/2020 15:44

I set the thermostat at 20. I'd prefer 21 but I'm trying to economise. Tried 18 once, got chilblains in my toes Confused
Flipping kitchen has no heat source, so we've got an electric heater in there, but it's still only ever 14-16 in the winter brrrrrrrrr
