How warm is your house?

I'm currently sitting in my noticeably chilly sitting room, cuddling the dog and resisting putting the heating on.

According to the thermometer, it's 16°C in here. It usually hovers around 18°C, which I find comfortable, but we've had the window open.
This might not be particularly astonishing, but I usually find other people's homes far, far too warm. So I was idly wondering what kind of temperature others prefer to heat their homes to.

I'm a bit 😱 at how cold some of your houses are!! 18-19 degrees feels freezing to me, my thermostat is normally set to 21-22.

I actually feel panicky if the house gets too cold!!

GruciusMalfoy · 26/01/2020 23:10

22 would be boiling in my house. We're mid-terrace, no big drafty rooms to heat, just small and easy to keep warm Smile

Happygirl79 · 26/01/2020 23:13

Ideally 21 degrees

  1. Got home today and it was 16. So freezing I got into bed with my dressing gown on.
Torchlightt · 26/01/2020 23:17

The sitting room is rarely above 15.

My house is usually about 19/20. Last week I was at a friend’s house and they turned the heating up to 22 - and another friend commented “only 22, I’d freeze - my house is more like 24!” No idea how they afford to have it on 24!

I don’t understand people who have the heating on at night. You’re under a duvet! Mine is on 12 and it never kicks in because it never drops that low. When I get up in the morning it’s still about 14/15 after having been off all night.

18 when we are in during the day. Heating off overnight and when we are not in.

ironicname · 26/01/2020 23:26

19 is perfect - it's a draughty old house and I like to wear jumpers and socks in the winter.

I can't stand over heated houses, I always feel a little sick and dizzy and even ill if the heating is on overnight.

wibblysnail · 26/01/2020 23:27

13-14 when I wake up, it takes ages to get warm despite good insulation.

Shadowboy · 26/01/2020 23:28

20 - it’s set to turn on when it gets to 19 and turn off as it hits 20 so it’s pretty much always 19-20 degrees. I still wear a jumper all the time through winter. Kids in t-shirts so it must be fine

12 at night and when we're not in.An hours heat in the morning to warm the bathroom and on again in the evening at 18, but I normally turn it up when we sit down.We do use blankets if still cold.
The dining room ,spare room and my bedroom are also set at 12.
I have felt the cold more as I've got older but still like to sleep in a cold bedroom with a big fluffy duvet.

Gilead · 27/01/2020 02:16

18-19. Off around nineish. Hate a hot bedroom! It would have to be very cold to put it on overnight.

Shev1996 · 27/01/2020 02:20

My hubby tends to set it to 20, the moment he leaves the room I lower it to 15. 15 is comfortable to me. Although I have a throw and a dog on my feet!
