CHAOS AND BRAIN NOT WORKING

Right. See if you can work this out, because my brain has fallen out.

Mr. Mhor and I are putting concrete slabs on part of the garden.

The slabs measure 450mm x 450 mm (approx. 18 in x 18 in)

The area to be covered measures 12 ft x 8 ft.

How many fucking slabs do we need? Even the woman in the shop who sold them to us came up with three different answers.

It cannot be that difficult. Can it?

Bugger it. I am going to start a thread about it.

We're likely related Dandy! Everyone else thinks I'm weird. Now I just have to try Artichoke ice cream to confirmSmile

Talking of weightSad I've been dress watching and I saw a couple dresses in the JL sale

This: www.johnlewis.com/phase-eight-wendelin-wrap-dress-green/p3523258

and this: www.johnlewis.com/boden-lola-jersey-dress-rich-emerald-lunettes/p4855316

But I have a vision of my head that is based on me about 10 years ago and neither will fit right around my erm wobbly belly bits. Plus I have lots of eczema scars on my arms. But Iove green. Not sure the 2nd is worth £55 bob either

It doesn't help that the models look bloody perfectEnvy.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 31/01/2020 14:17

No we're not related after all Dandy. You can do maths!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 31/01/2020 14:22

I think you need 8 along the 12 ft edge, (2 = 3ft, therefore 8 = 12 ft.)
And 6 along the 8ft edge, but there will be an overhang of 1 ft.

So 48. and maybe a couple for breakages?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 31/01/2020 14:28

Artichoke ice cream, how fancy are you Dandy?Grin

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 31/01/2020 14:32

What imaginary saysGrin Did you start thread? When is said paving going down?

LaMarschallin · 31/01/2020 14:34

I see that absolutely everyone on this thread considers themselves to be about 4 - 6 stone overweight (apart from LaMarschallin who is strangely silent on the topic).

Ah.

The weight per se isn't too bad, but I would like to redistribute it.
Ideally, I should have a body the consistency of a tube of toothpaste which I would definitely squeeze in the middle to become an hourglass rather than the sort of lemon on sticks that I am 🤨

GracefulHippo · 31/01/2020 14:40

Hmmm....

12ft = 366cm (minor rounding)
8 ft = 244 cm (minor rounding)

366 /45 = 8.1333
244 / 45 = 5.4222

So, either 8 x 6 (cutting of a bit on the slabs on the short side, slightly short on the long side) = 48

Or to be on the safe side 9 x 6 = 54

We are all getting slightly different answers, but narrowing it down!! Smile

yolofish · 31/01/2020 14:42

deally, I should have a body the consistency of a tube of toothpaste which I would definitely squeeze in the middle to become an hourglass rather than the sort of lemon on sticks that I am

SO true. sigh. but even when I was skinny I never really had a waist. Could do with losing a stone, but reckon it would make my face look worse - you know that thing about choosing between your figure and your face at a certain age?

The Great Patio Slab Question

OP posts:
DandyAF · 31/01/2020 15:06

Mischief I’m a Fancy Dandy Wink

Twin Catherine I love the colour of the first dress - the colour of artichokes Grin

Agree that the 2nd is over-priced. The sunglasses print is cute but the print & cut of the other is more sophisticated. So guess it’s what type of occasions you’ll wear it to?

I bought the most gorgeous green cashmere- wool mix open cardigan hoodie in the same recently. I never used to like it wear green but over the last few years I’m increasingly falling for it

yolofish · 31/01/2020 15:06

I'd go with 54, it's always handy to have a few extra slabs knocking around, you can use them as stepping stones in big beds, or to weigh down the edges of your chicken run (should you have a chicken run of course)

BabySharksMummyShark · 31/01/2020 15:07

Haha the great patio slab question 😂

Weather is grey here, not rained yet just windy! Which is good as we got into town and back without getting wet. And only two melt downs from the toddler! Woop woop!

I am more than happy to redistribute my weight if anyone wants it? Honestly its not a problem i have plenty going spare! 😂😁

Enjoy your night away and birthday hippo!

Are the dresses for a specific event Catherine?
The first one is my fav, the second one would be nice for bbqs in the summer.
I have a heart attack at £20 for a dress so no idea if the they are worth £55 😂

DandyAF · 31/01/2020 15:08

Or you could use them to cover up the body if Mr Mhor doesn’t get his egg game fixed ...

yolofish · 31/01/2020 15:09

catherine the plain one is much smarter IMO, but I like them both (sorry no help!)

TheMustressMhor · 31/01/2020 15:09

Don't get me started on Mr. Mhor and the fried eggs again. Hmm

OP posts:
yolofish · 31/01/2020 15:13

I know catherine get both! you deserve it, it's the end of January, both are pretty classic - keep your options open...

DandyAF · 31/01/2020 15:19

yolo you’re an enabler Grin

yolofish · 31/01/2020 15:22

lol dandy. I prefer to think of it as advice on investment dressing...

DandyAF · 31/01/2020 15:25

I like that phrase yolo, the word ‘investment’ makes it legit. On a related note, as it’s Tax Return Day, my bank account is definitely surviving rather than thriving.

DandyAF · 31/01/2020 15:26

Actually it’s barely surviving. Drowning rather then waving.

yolofish · 31/01/2020 15:30

dandy I paid my tax yesterday, yay for me. Only now I read the letter and it says allow 3-5 days for payment to arrive with HMRC. What's the betting I get a late payment charge? TBF I have no excuse, it's been on my desk for at least 3 weeks, but procrastination takes its toll.
