I'm going there tomorrow, and would like to hear what you think are essentials.

Also, what should I order for my lunch?

Lemon and dill sauce for salmon
Loads of napkins

Redshoeblueshoe · 23/01/2020 20:43

I went today - the sweet and salty liquorice is brilliant.
Absolutely essential

Kenworthington · 23/01/2020 20:45

Those wicker belly baskets
The bamboo lidded stackable glass storage boxes
Their packs of flannels
The cotton duvet sets
The indestructible stackable drinking glasses
Ribba frames
Houseplants
The big see through zipped storage bags

I bloody love ikea

blamethecat · 23/01/2020 20:48

Bag clips, so you don't spill rice/sugar/couscous all over the place.
Those tubes of dime/diam sweets.
Kallax
Step stool
Scrubbing brushes with suckers on the bottom.
One of those Wheely trollies with three shelves.

PoohBearsHole · 23/01/2020 20:50

£1 loo brushes

BikeRunSki · 23/01/2020 20:57

Freezer bags

ThePittts · 23/01/2020 21:04

small yellow handled scissors for 50p

sewinginscotland · 23/01/2020 21:04

You don't go into IKEA for essentials. You sometimes go in with a list of stuff that you want but come out with tonnes of stuff that definitely wasn't on it.

If you've not been before, then definitely you have to get the meatballs with all the extras for lunch.

carly2803 · 23/01/2020 21:05

I love ikea, but do not love being chlastrophobic in that blue box!

Meckity1 · 23/01/2020 21:16

Check out the soft toys if you can think of anyone who needs one. They are soft, cuddly and wash and dry. I had one literally (as in, literally actually) run over by a car in front of me, and it was fine after a wash.

I think once you get to the marketplace, after you have finished the furniture, the best thing is to head on at a dead run.

Ours also has a sort of 'seconds' where they have dinted bits and returns. I don't go there anymore

@Thinkle we have that light! And the curtains, table, Billy...Blush
Also excuse the mess, this is real life

The cheese grater with the container inside! Do not know how I survived without that one.

almostfreeatlast · 23/01/2020 21:31

I like the thin flexible chopping boards that come in a two pack.

The sandwich bags are good too.

7Days · 23/01/2020 21:37

The ceramic roasting tins.
They get used for everything, cakes, tables serving. And they go in the dishwasher without scrubbing

WellTidy · 23/01/2020 21:40

The stainless steel roasting dishes are perfect

A wooden step

The recycling bins with lids which stack and open on an angle

aspiringnurse · 23/01/2020 21:43

Sandwich bags!!! Only ones I ever buy they're amazing and don't split.

Candles - orange is my fave, they actually smell once lit as well unlike other much more expensive brands.

If you like plain and simple food, the chips and gravy is amazing, as are the cinnamon buns they're deleocious and even better if you get them in the frozen food to buy bit and cook them at home - fresh and hot from the oven whilst your whole kitchen smells like cinnamon Grin

Diam bars - bloody amazing!!

I love ikea haha.. course you have to have a wander round the bargain basement and look out for the Venus fly traps in the real plants section!

I love going through the kitchen bit, always seem to have a need for another thing of scissors for the kitchen, washing scrubbing brush or some bag clips for freezer food Grin

floppybit · 23/01/2020 21:46

Sinnerlig pendant lamp - if you have a high enough ceiling!

The black step stool thing
Food bag clips
Meatballs & gravy
Daim bars
Tea lights
Candles
Picture frames

Always a look round the clearance / bargain corner!
You'll come out with loads of stuff you "needed" Grin it's the Ikea charm!

DramaAlpaca · 23/01/2020 21:49

The Ikea jam is lovely, especially the blueberry & raspberry one.

I also rate their freezer bags.

Longdistance · 23/01/2020 21:52

Marabou chocolate 🍫 🤤

delilahbucket · 23/01/2020 21:55

Cotton bedding (it is to fit their duvets though which are sized differently), hangers, pans, glasses, tealights, clothes hangers, lint rollers, pillows, glass bottles with stoppers. Food section - meatballs, smoked salmon (far superior to supermarket stuff), marinated herrings (all varieties but especially the mustard ones), Daim cake, cinnamon buns. We always stop for a hotdog and donut on the way out!

Gogolego · 23/01/2020 21:55

NoShitHemlock · 23/01/2020 22:00
