Do you ever get that thing, when you're trying to sleep but can't, because your arms are JUST IN THE WAY

and no matter what you do or where you put them, they just GET IN THE WAY.

I can't describe it accurately any other way, I'm afraid. DH knew exactly what I meant when I told him that was why I couldn't sleep last night.

GrinGrinGrinRidiculous, isn't it?

OMG, I know exactly what you mean. And once I'm aware of it, I can't stop focusing on my arms! I thought I was just being weird..

TheGreatWave · 20/01/2020 18:40

Yes!!!!, and then my legs are in the way, and then my shoulders, but my arms are always just there, being annoying.

fishonabicycle · 20/01/2020 18:42

Yes! Then I get bloody pins and needles in my hands from lying on my stupid arms.

Speekachu · 20/01/2020 18:44

Yes! I always say I wish I could remove my arms at night as my shoulders are in the way.

Gonetharnagain · 20/01/2020 18:44

Arms AND massive boobs in the way!

Jux · 20/01/2020 18:49

Oh thank god! I thought that really it was me, and that dh might have caught it from me Wink

Yes, to boobs too! I get itches in my legs sometimes which causes them to almost jump around.

The different bits of my body have minds of their own, the bastards.

Yes!!

BarbedBloom · 20/01/2020 18:52

Yes. Also I always end up noticing how my tongue always feels too big for my mouth. I cannot get comfortable with either one pillow or two. It is a nightmare

Twospaniels · 20/01/2020 18:58

Yes, and especially now while I have tennis elbow in my right arm. It’s really difficult to get it comfortable, and then when I want to move, it hurts like hell.

slipperywhensparticus · 20/01/2020 19:00

And then when I DO get comfortable my cat comes in and reminds me I have arms and I need to use them to cuddle the purring ball of fluff

Nomorelaundry · 20/01/2020 19:00

I had this the other night!!

I was cursing them! Why are they there! What is their point.

YorkshirePud1 · 20/01/2020 19:01

Yes! So it's not just me?! I had this anyway and it's even worse now I'm pregnant. I think because I now have to make an effort to lie on my left, my head is like "but erm... where's that arm meant to go?" and then I just can't seem to find anywhere to put it!

Gazelda · 20/01/2020 19:08

Yes! And my intolerant, selfish DH doesn't seem to get that sometimes I have to tuck my arm under his pillow to get it out of my way.

Then i loll the other arm over the side of the bed, but it's too short to touch the floor and I can't bear it just dangling.

Sometimes I lie on my front, squishing my too-big boobs into the mattress topper uncomfortably, with hands tucked under my hips. But then I get pins and needs in my hands and find it impossible to turn with out-of-action hands.

So frustrating.

wonkytonkwoman · 20/01/2020 19:13

I sometimes get that thing where I want to lie on my front but I also want my face toward the ceiling. It's so frustrating not to have a head that can turn back to front so that I can lie on my front and have my nose facing the way I want it.

joffreyscoffees · 20/01/2020 19:19

Yes, I honestly wish I could detach my arms at night! Worst thing is I've started to feel the same about my legs too.

Daddylonglegs1965 · 20/01/2020 19:25

Yes I have had a sore shoulder arm at odd times during the day but it’s worse at night when I am in bed. It’s almost like I have forgotten how to get comfortable in bed and forgotten how to get to sleep (my GP and physio have diagnosed this as nerve pain) and I have had this trouble for a good many months now except for a brief stint when I was using HRT patches and an unintended consequence of this was that my shoulder and arm pain disappeared. But then I could no longer get hold of the HRT patches anymore and the arm/shoulder awkwardness and pain is back at night with a vengeance. I tried HRT tablets but they made my boobs v sore and uncomfortable and didn’t touch the arm/shoulder pain at all.

Chocolatemice · 20/01/2020 19:49

No. For many years, I could only sleep if I had my arms crossed under my head (front sleeper). When I’m hormonal, I could really do without sore swollen breasts.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 20/01/2020 19:50

God, yes. They need to unscrew at the shoulder and go in a stand beside the bed not underneath because of all the cat hair under there.

Mumbassa · 20/01/2020 19:51

Yes! It’s so infuriating

RiftGibbon · 20/01/2020 19:51

Absolutely.
And then my knees don't feel right against each other when I lay on my side, so I have to keep making minute adjustments.
If I lay on my back my toenails feel horrible against the bedcovers.

captainpantbeard · 20/01/2020 19:52

Yes! I have no idea where to put them sometimes.

When I was a kid I used to put one of them in the air and find it comfortable Confused

lilgreen · 20/01/2020 19:54

Grin this thread has given me a proper laugh! I know just what you mean. So funny.

lilgreen · 20/01/2020 19:56

I started to put mine above my head to get them out of the way but I wake up with a dead arm!

lilgreen · 20/01/2020 19:59

We need a boob or arm shaped cut-out in the mattress. I’m just off to get a patent.....

TheHagOnTheHill · 20/01/2020 19:59

I haven't had this for years. But breastfeeding ,on my side in bed ,I used to wish for zip off arms as whichever was on the bottom got very cold and got pins and needles.
