Do you ever get that thing, when you're trying to sleep but can't, because your arms are JUST IN THE WAY

and no matter what you do or where you put them, they just GET IN THE WAY.

I can't describe it accurately any other way, I'm afraid. DH knew exactly what I meant when I told him that was why I couldn't sleep last night.

GrinGrinGrinRidiculous, isn't it?

ArthurDentsSpaceTowel - we have a very expensive super kingsize Visprung bed so plenty of room as DH is far enough away from me. I woke up with dead/numb arms and shoulders in the early hours and in desperation tried to rest my arm on DH instead of a build a bear but that didn’t solve my problems either.

Cherrysoup · 21/01/2020 23:38

God, yes. They need to unscrew at the shoulder and go in a stand beside the bed

Yes, yes! Or just click off nicely. So useful!

LordBuckley · 22/01/2020 00:30

Where are supposed to put them when you want to cuddle too?

How do you cuddle without arms?

LemonPrism · 22/01/2020 00:32

DP has a special vision which has a cut out for his arm to go so it's not in the way. It cost £300 - that's how badly his arms get in his way. The lunatic. Now he says his hips get in the way...

Cushion*

ioioitsoff · 22/01/2020 00:34

Long hair is dreadful foo, I'm so tempted to hack it all some nights.

Time40 · 22/01/2020 00:52

God yes. Bloody arms - always in the way.

I've got another one - I'll start a new thread ...

Sarcelle · 23/01/2020 04:06

Right this minute. Arms are in the way of me sleeping.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 23/01/2020 04:27

I'm overweight at the moment and could do with losing 2-3 stone. My stomach/belly/abdomen is not huge but it does feel like it flops a bit and then gets in the way when I'm laying half on my side and half on my front.

MountainPeakGeek · 23/01/2020 04:34

Yes, but like some others have said, only in the last few years?!? What's changed? Why do my arms piss me off so much at night now when they didn't get in the way before? Confused

kissmelittleass · 26/01/2020 20:52

This thread has made me even more aware of my arms!! They were driving me mad last night I just couldn't get comfortable with them anywhere I tried under my pillow, between my knees but ended up sitting up and coming on here instead until my eyes went!

AlexaAmbidextra · 26/01/2020 21:59

I know what you mean. I remember saying to my mum one night when she was tucking me into bed, ‘I wish my arms were telescopic’. I guess I was about 7 or 8. It seemed sensible to me that if you could retract them you wouldn’t have to lie on them.

RiftGibbon · 26/01/2020 22:21

Somehow found a comfortable way to pay for a while last night. On my side, with the underneath arm tucked up under my pillow, but in front of my head, iyswim. Hips tilted slightly back and underneath leg pulled up closer to my body. Top leg was then knee to mattress, and top arm across stomach.
Fine until I sneezed, moved slightly and then spent the next half hour trying to get back into something like the same position.

shouldhavecalleditoatabix · 27/01/2020 02:19

You know when you see a thread and the minute you open it you wish you hadn't? That's this thread...!

I am moments away from going to bed and now I know I will not be able to comfortable because of my stupid arms. I already sleep with 4 feather pillows, one between my legs, two in a v-shape for my head so I can 'cuddle' part of it and one on my head for noise. But hell the I just get comfortable and my bleeding arm goes numb! Turning over is a military option! Then my feet get hot so one pokes out the duvet. Then my toenails are touching something. Then I start getting random itches and twitches. Then, I finally get comfortable and OH turns onto his back and starts snoring. Sometimes I can see he's almost hugging the pillow into his face so I try to gently 'ease' the pillow away and he stops snoring. I go through the process of getting comfortable and he does it again!! Then I gently say 'turn over darling' roughly shove him while grunting shut up!!

I literally don't want to go to bed now!! Grin

Eckhart · 27/01/2020 02:26

Not so much arms, but my knees seem to grow to gargantuan proportions in the night and bash against each other. When I turn the light on to have a look, they go back to normal, the conniving pair of... knees.

absopugginglutely · 27/01/2020 10:21

That thread title just made me laugh out loud. Fortunately I don’t have this problem but thanks for making me laugh and it looks like you’re not alone.

Chesntoots · 27/01/2020 11:20

My problem is my shoulders. Why are they there? Yncomfy on my back, in my sides I cant cope with the pillow. I'm either too low or my neck is cranked. I try and tuck the pillow between my chin and shoulder but end up suffocating.

How the fuck can I sleep??
