Who else would really appreciate a polite discussion of gender issues and the concerns of women at the jess Philips webchat on Monday?

I posted on the webchat thread:
Since the questions have already been asked I am not allowed to repeat similar but I want on record that self ID, its potential abuse, protection of vulnerable young people from those who promote transition which can sometimes include puberty blockers, the protection of natal women's rights and the importance of teaching biological facts in schools are big concerns to me.

MNHQ have said they don't want any more comments or questions about gender issues on the Web chat thread which I can understand. However what I do want to make clear is the number of people who may share some or all of my concerns. Otherwise any questions about gender issues are of an equal weight to all others and in fact others, which can be repeated in a different form, may seem to gain more weight.

It is interesting that deleted questions are removed completely rather than the usual way. It would be nice if there were a way to show that lots are concerned and have similar questions even without showing all the actual questions.

Stealth great work!

GirlsInGreen · 19/01/2020 13:59

@StealthPolarBear I posted earlier but pls add me to your list & Thank you for this.

Did anyone else think JP looked terrified in the Dawson interview video?

Reminded me of myself at school with the Head thinking 'shit - if I play this right, I might just get out by the skin of my teeth'.
Seriously disappointed in Jess - she lives not far from me and i've seen her the odd time. As a fellow brummie, I thought she had more about her.

AGirlHasNoCake · 19/01/2020 14:04

add me too pls.

Jux · 19/01/2020 14:28

Oh yes Stealth, add me if you haven't (I hadn't specifically asked before!).

Why is it that no one can tell us why we're wrong? I hope Jess will be able to and I hope she actually does. I don't think she will though Sad and then I'll have to realign my mind over who I admire and who just runs around vote catching. Please don't make me have to do that, Jess!

Maybe we can have a webchat with Susie Green on the condition that she actually answers questions? She wouldn't come would she?

Magenta82 · 19/01/2020 14:46

I would really like an answer, women's rights are very important to me and we need to protect our spaces.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 19/01/2020 15:08

@jux yes but this is in Chat.

FeelingCold · 19/01/2020 15:37

Please add me to the list.

LangCleg · 19/01/2020 15:47

I notice that there are no pro-genderist questions - although I suppose this post might prompt some - if so, sorry, but not now, after several days and several threads discussing the webchat censorship policy - nothing pushing the genderist agenda at all.

So not only does a significant portion of the membership object to this agenda, but the tiny minority in support of it doesn't have it high enough a priority to ask a question about it.

Surely that says it all?

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 19/01/2020 15:49

Yep add me too!

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 19/01/2020 15:57

116 posts on the web chat thread, 385 on this one.

Playing the tiny violins of the group they think has the most wokeness points, instead of listening to the actual majority of their target market, is why Labour are in this fucking state. Don't listen, don't learn (as I keep telling my DC!)

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 19/01/2020 15:58

Gosh my grammar is awful today, I'm not sure that will make sense to anyone!

AccioWine · 19/01/2020 16:01

Lang yy, it does rather beg the question, when Justine talks about people telling them they are being put off contributing, are these from Mumsnet members or the Twitter monitors? Cos that does make a difference, in my mind.

BeyondFlubeInclusionaryRF · 19/01/2020 16:03

Lang - that reminds me, I'm curious whether a known "GC" poster would be allowed to ask questions there if they were worded in a pro-genderist manner. EG are we allowed to ask JP what extra protections she would want for trans people? Or are all questions from "us" banned?

LatinforTelly · 19/01/2020 16:12

Please add me to the list. I share all the concerns - preservation of women's spaces, places in sport, rapid rush to treatment of gender questioning children, institutional capture by Stonewall/trans activists, inappropriate grooming education on 'gender' in schools, removing spousal exit clause, everything on your long list much further up the thread.

Maybe worth saying I've only just found this thread as I mainly read FWR now and rarely check out Chat.

Why, why do politicians kowtow to the vocal minority on Twitter, as if it's representative of Britain at large? Confused

CadburysTastesVileNow · 19/01/2020 16:16

Plse add me, Steath.

LastTrainEast · 19/01/2020 16:30

Count me in. These are vital questions that should be asked.

In general if you limit the questions that can be asked of a politician then everyone thinks no one cared enough to ask them. In such a case it's better to say "we decided not to go ahead with a chat/interview with hidden limits on expressing concerns"

Cwenthryth · 19/01/2020 16:57

I know Jess has been asked gender critical questions (I was at an event and heard one) so the hypocrisy is strong with this one.

Are you able to say more about the question at this event and how JP responded that time?

Timeforanewname2014 · 19/01/2020 16:59

Please add me to the voice of Mumsneters, and voters who think these issues are massively important and should be discussed. In fact my vote in the last general election was changed by this issue - from a party who I agree with on Brexit and most other issues to one that I fundamentally disagree with on Brexit and most other issues but seem to be slightly more aligned on women's rights and the belief that a woman is an adult female.

slouchingtowardswaitrose · 19/01/2020 17:13

Me.

ImGenderfree · 19/01/2020 17:15

Me too - this is one of the key issues for me in politics. I’m getting angrier by the day.

I have just been told as a union member that I have a vote in this election so I’ve registered. I’m quite excited about it. A major factor in where my vote will go is how they answer these questions.

ImGenderfree · 19/01/2020 17:19

Oh and registering to vote the Labour Party asked why I thought they hadn’t won - it only allowed 500 spaces but I put down self ID.

Agree with the above posts - one question just doesn’t cover it all.

ValancyRedfern · 19/01/2020 17:20

Add me too please

StealthPolarBear · 19/01/2020 17:52

Stealth are you local to me? You deserve a pint for this.

Thank you.

You deserve a pint for this.

You really do. 🥂🍷🍾
