Don’t utterly gorgeous names of course

New puppy- everyone here has a dog called Archie, Alfie or Teddy and of course they’re popular because they’re great names- I want to yell a name and only have one dog come back Grin

I have a list to do for the kids and husband for this little fella as nobody can agree

I like Bellamy (after the ledge that is David Bellamy)
Brian (fab name for a Dog I think )
Rufus
Tank
Bowie (Dave was a hero ) 😊

Family hate all of those

This is not him but a photo that’s a very close
Resemblance

Save me from The name Alfie and Archie please

Well @FrogsInHeels believe it or not I know somebody with a 15 year old Brian. Awful name imo but not sure she would get that joke that is so jaded now "the cat is called Derek" because that is such a terrible name.

It is just such an OLD joke now. Id be embarrassed for that reason. Ten years ago, a dog called Brian, ha ha. Now? Siiiiigh.

notaregularmom · 14/01/2020 08:12

Barnaby-Barney for short.

kazza446 · 14/01/2020 08:15

We’ve had an Ernie dog and now have a Ronnie!! He was named after Ronald weasley from Harry Potter as my child is hp mad 😊

OhMyGiddyAunty · 14/01/2020 08:18

If I had a cute wee dog like that, I think I would name him Parsley 😍

BustedDreams · 14/01/2020 08:23

One syllable names are best for recalling your dog. I’d go with ‘Dave’, if you are wanting to pay homage to David Bowie Grin

fizznchips · 14/01/2020 08:36

Ernie or Percy

Greyhound22 · 14/01/2020 09:59

Sorry @TheYearOfTheDog but my DDog is called Barry and is 12 - I didn't name him he's an ex-racer - a lot of ex-racers have these types of name as the RGT give them all a name starting with the first letter of their racing name.

It's not bloody tiresome or a 'joke' it's his name.

Surely that’s true of all human names for dogs? Why pick on Brian? Why is it a “joke” when the others aren’t?

(& seriously, you’re complaining because you know one child called Brian?)

Hadtoask · 14/01/2020 12:40

You need something you can call out loudly and make people smile. Fenton would sound good.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 14/01/2020 13:10

Spud as he's potato coloured?

FrogsInHeels · 14/01/2020 15:06

sigh
Actually nothing wrong with Brian as a name for a 15 year old Confused

And I’m not worried if people think I’m passé or jumping on some kind of ironic name train Grin
I’m really not cool so that would work

My only objection is that it is an old joke and also a joke that could cause some offence. So.. that type of joke...

Patroclus · 15/01/2020 19:18

Philoctetes

You haven’t answered my question.
In what way is it a joke, old or otherwise?
Seriously.
I have no idea.

And why is Brian a joke, but no other names are?

DuchessofManchester · 15/01/2020 20:17

StCharlotte · 15/01/2020 23:32

Reckless (after the dog in the Waltons).

EskiVodkaCranberry · 15/01/2020 23:38

Growing up we had a gorgeous dog named Walter. We called him Walty Hmm he was older than me so I never thought about it being an unusual name but I love it now! He was a great dog!

Rosere · 15/01/2020 23:40

Another Gary vote here.

Guacamole · 15/01/2020 23:48

1moresurvey · 16/01/2020 00:55

Itsjustmee · 16/01/2020 01:35

My parents have 2 bulldogs called Nigel & Arthur
Smelly fuckers but the names always get a laugh

Itsjustmee · 16/01/2020 01:37

And when we had a litter a few years ago one of the new owners called their puppy Derek after my husband. My husband was well chuffed
