Do you wear pants with tights?

Wore tights for the first time in forever yesterday, DH asked why pants with tights as the top bit is thicker and quite substantial (although not when stretched round my fat arse!). I thought everyone wore pants but it made me wonder? I have in the past worn them over the tights to stop the hanging crotch thing, but surely everyone wears pants or have I been doing it wrong?

It’s personal choice. This conversation came up in a bar recently and I have friends that do and friends that don’t.

I do not wear knickers with tights. For starters, they adhere to the top of the body and stay up better without a layer underneath which they slip against. It also gives you a better line under tighter skirts and dresses.

Cheap supermarket tights (which work out more expensive in the long run) would be another story though. I wear Autograph, seam free or Heist tights, which are made like a tube and have a “proper” cotton gusset and, as the name implies, no seam. They are more comfortable without knickers.

I’ve never had thrush as a result, it could be argued that the body will breath less with another layer (let alone 2!) underneath.

Finally, maybe the pictures depicted on a lot of the packets, plus the fact that in north America they call them pantyhose may be a give away.

@KickAssAngel I wear tights and boots a lot. Don’t wear socks and tights do bobble after a while.

Bit then my tights don’t last very long anyway. I usually snag them after a few wears.

Of course

Not always after reading a thread on here a few months back. I buy tights with a cotton gusset and if I am wearing something close fitting don’t wear knickers. I mentioned it to a colleague, she never wears knickers with tights, same thing, to avoid an extra line.

It stands to reason that anything which clings to the body will stop in place better than something over another looser piece of fabric (knickers). As for 2 pairs of knickers and tights, by the time l’d pulled everything up and got it in place after a wee, I’d want another wee again.

Snag size guide suggests I'm a D (size 12, 5'9") but one of women pictured modelling the size C is taller than me and roughly as wide. Do they come up big?

frankincenseandmur · 13/01/2020 09:46

I definitely wear pants with tights

StarlightLady · 14/01/2020 07:49

Inspired by this thread. Random totally unscientific poll conducted during the final drops and after a few empty bottles on an all female birthday celebration in a wine bar last night. Amongst lots of giggles. Wine

7 women aged 26-45. 2 of us didn’t wear knix with tights. 1 usually did but not always (depended on the dress). 3 always did. 1 voter disqualified as she never wore skirts/dresses.

Oh, and none of us called knickers pants. Although one was taught to say briefs by her mum. Grin

@Dollymixture22 Mine are back in stock, yours might be too!

Talking of getting clothes in the right order:
Went to a friends house to change for an evening out, we were students, so years ago. As we were getting dressed I noticed she had a vest, it was winter. Then added her bra. I started giggling and explained why. She knew it was not usual but said it was more comfortable over the vest or a slip.
ps knickers and stockings for me with the six point belt, for all kinds of reasons.

LoadsaBlusher · 28/06/2020 08:52

Yes - 100% always wear pants under tights

Rememberallball · 28/06/2020 09:22

@SexlessBoulderBelly

I wear pants under my tights... and if they’re the type to start making their way south after 20 minutes I also stick a pair on top to keep them up. Best thing ever
Oh yes, definitely the way to stop a southbound gusset!! Especially if combined with a pair of hold ins instead of ‘normal’ knickers 🤣🤣
labazsisgoingmad · 28/06/2020 09:34

yes to knickers underneath tights
btw does anyone remember the tights you used to be able to buy with a pair of knickers built in so to speak? nasty nylon things they were

foamrolling · 28/06/2020 09:39

This has to be the weirdest zombie thread resurrection. Or perhaps dodgiest given the reference to stockings by the person who resurrected it...

eaglejulesk · 28/06/2020 09:43

Definitely pants under tights - and I have worn them over the top as well with some pairs which are prone to creeping down.

eaglejulesk · 28/06/2020 09:45

plus the fact that in north America they call them pantyhose may be a give away.

They are called pantyhose in NZ too, but I don't know anyone who doesn't wear knickers underneath.

Sorry for posting I did not check date. Am fairly new here. Blush

A question only a bloke would ask to be fair.

I've enjoyed this thread. Makes a change from people droning on about masks, social distancing and fucking coronavirus.
Pants under tights always.
As you were
