Do you wear pants with tights?

Wore tights for the first time in forever yesterday, DH asked why pants with tights as the top bit is thicker and quite substantial (although not when stretched round my fat arse!). I thought everyone wore pants but it made me wonder? I have in the past worn them over the tights to stop the hanging crotch thing, but surely everyone wears pants or have I been doing it wrong?

Love the idea to double pant😊. I wear tights most days and they tend to roll down over my less than flat stomach🙄

Get him to wear the tights Ugh an image of raw sausage meat rammed into a see through bag comes to mind.

I have broken my long-time lurker MN status for this  this may be controversial but I wear pants under AND over my tights  I don't wear them very often and I'm quite tall, so whichever pair I wear I always end up with the slipping crotch which is not elegant to pull up in public. Two pairs of big cotton briefs keep them snugly up. I was introduced to it as a friend when I was about 16 and we call it the double pants. I've managed to introduce it to a few other people since 

I wear them with no pants. This is a recentish discovery, too many lines with pants plus tights.

If it's difficult to find tights to fit wouldn't stockings or hold ups be better?

I never wear pants under tights. I only wear them once and they go in the wash. Same as pants really.

I’m short ( less than 5ft ) and wide ( size 18 ) and have always had problems with tights falling down and Nora Batty ankles so have always worn two pairs of pants, one underneath and one over. But I’ve been recommended to buy Snag Tights recently so I’m going to give it a go.

Yep I wear knickers.

Usually only wear tights to formal events with nice dresses and it's not been unknown for me to wear suck it in pants over the top to .... well suck it all I and keep them up where they should be

Snag tights are as good as the adverts say. I've just ordered more as I love the pair I got to try.

And always underwear with tights!

Pants always. I used to have a little pair of Lycra hot pants (part of an outfit when I was really skinny) and they were fab over tights and when I was wearing sanpro I put them over my pants.

I always wear pants underneath and sometimes I double pant with a pair over the tights. Unfortunately I had a bad experience double panting while pregnant. I accidentally got my dress tucked into the second pair of pants walked across a busy pub before DH spotted me and sorted me out but the shame lingers so I try to avoid double panting now.

Thanks all - it was one of those moments where I just doubted myself. In recent years for winter things I've done long dresses and just wear knee highs, but last night i went all daring and raised the hemline 6"

I'd suggest he wear a part of tights with no pants and he can find out why you would wear them.

I assume you mean underpants/knickers? Not trouser pants? I always wear them under the tights. As a child I recall wearing them over the top once or even 2 pairs, but now just 1 pair underneath.

It wasn’t until I came onto MN that I found out that some people put pants OVER their tights! The mind boggles 😂 In answer to @beingchampion though, I just wear pants under the tights.

Yes definitely underneath! But I can see why if you were slim (so no looking like a bank robber) and the gusset of the tights stayed where it should that not wearing pants would be an option.

But with my build it would not be attractive or practical - I’m more likely to be double panting not going commando!

Might try some snags though. They sound interesting.

Yes, because I don't enjoy thrush.

My arse is big enough without adding 3 millimetres more with an extra pair of pants!
