We are just about to buy a new kitchen and trying to decide whether to get a dishwasher or not.
I've never had one before so do t know if I'd use it?
I've got a 1 year old so may be it will help free up
a few minutes every day?!

I didn’t have one when mine were little ( 80’s/ 90’s) had first one in late 1990’s and it transformed my life.
If I had to choose an appliance to give up it wouldn’t be the dishwasher!
Only 2 of us now but it broke down Monday. New one coming next Friday and I’m being minimalistic with my cooking! Not using the food mixer and doing one pot meals

Cheapest form if domestic help. I love mine.

I adore my dishwasher. When it’s predecessor broke down last year I had its replacement ordered within hours.

Dishes come out so much cleaner than hand washing. It’s more energy efficient, cheap to run. It’s second only to my washing machine as my most loved appliance!

I still remember getting my first dishwasher when DC2 was born. Oh, happy days. It lasted until he was nearly 19! Of course it got replaced immediately.

@Hellbentwellwent Wow! That's different!

Love my dishwasher, even though it was just me in the house when I got it. Wouldn't be without one.

Nonnymum · 11/01/2020 14:45

I would hate to be without my dish washer. Well worth the kitchen space. Mine is only a slimline one but I live it.

lllllllllll · 11/01/2020 14:46

God YES! I also think to myself on a regular basis how it’s one of the best inventions ever and wonder how people without one can possibly cope Grin

ThisIsSharonVanEtten · 11/01/2020 14:47

We have two, so there are never any dirty dishes left. Best. Thing. Ever.

DuesToTheDirt · 11/01/2020 14:48

I love the time it saves, but they wear out your stuff. Cutlery etc. loses its shine. Plus, I don't buy the eco argument - what about the effects of manufacture and disposal?

TurningLeaves · 11/01/2020 14:51

I didn't have a dishwasher until I was 37. Best day of my life!
