And I'm getting vesta beefcurry for dinner with ginger from the van

ssd · 10/01/2020 17:31

Or the alpine van

drspouse · 10/01/2020 17:32

@ssd my mum used cooking oil but that was in the 50s. We had factor 15 but I'm pretty sure everyone thought we were weirdos.

TheMemoryLingers · 10/01/2020 17:34

It's a mini milk for me. Bargain at 6p!

missclimpson · 10/01/2020 17:38

I am 26. Children are 5 and 3, pale skin and white blonde hair. Hats and sun cream all day, every day. We have very little money and have been camping (tent and children in Ford Cortina) at Whitsun (torrential rain for three days then boiling hot sun) and then August bank holiday week (boiling hot sun for three days then torrential rain.) The rain lasts until Christmas and we can't get the tent dry.

FeltCarrot · 10/01/2020 17:39

I’m 10 and I keep waking up in the night having nosebleeds😢

FeltCarrot · 10/01/2020 17:40

Oh, and I also have to keep lifting the spaghetti straps of my dress off my very sunburnt shoulders.

kenandbarbie · 10/01/2020 17:43

I'm six months old and mostly swinging on the swinging chair with my mum and sister in the garden. I have a photo of it, I lived that swinging chair.

RuthW · 10/01/2020 17:46

I've just come back from the shops and bought my first record. It was Mississippi by Pussycat. I nearly bought Dancing Queen instead but I prefer Mississippi. It cost 60p.

MyShrivelledGnarlyFinger · 10/01/2020 17:53

On my way to the beach I stop at the bubble gum machine at the side of the shop, hopeful that it's the fourth turn this time so I get double. After the beach I sit on the weighing machine scales on the sea front and the man writes my weight on a ticket. Pop into the shop for a swisskit (would you risk it for swisskit)? Home to watch Blue Peter. (ITV not allowed).

PrivateSpidey · 10/01/2020 17:54

I'm about to turn 1, and moving with my mum and dad from my grandma's house, where we'd been living since I was born, to our own house on the other side of the city.

ChicCroissant · 10/01/2020 17:56

Picnic bar for me please. Or a 10p Freddo if there isn't enough money for a picnic.

EffieIsATrinket · 10/01/2020 17:57

The Trouble with Goats and Sheep by Joanne Cannon is worth reading for further immersion in the summer of 76! It's a great book and made me feel as though I was there even though I wasn't born until the year after.

Helmet? What helmet..?

ivykaty44 · 10/01/2020 18:00

it was a long hot summer and Southampton fc won the cup

Dorsetcamping · 10/01/2020 18:01

I'm 5 and camping in Swanage. Tent is sweatbox central and my mum is trying to cool my baby brother down in a washing up bowl of cold water Grin

cheesewitheverything · 10/01/2020 18:02

I've just done the most stupid thing ever and gone and got married by mistake.

Dorsetcamping · 10/01/2020 18:02

@ivykaty44 they certainly did and my home town didn't do a stitch of work when the tram bus paraded around!

Dorsetcamping · 10/01/2020 18:03

*team

ivykaty44 · 10/01/2020 18:04

I remember the lady birds bitting as there were so many

It was on the news every day that it was hot! Like we didn’t know 🤣

Makinglists · 10/01/2020 18:07

I'm 6 and playing in my garden, where the lawn has turned brown and is more dust than lawn.
Could I have a dibdab from the shop please.

JellyfishandShells · 10/01/2020 18:09

I would like a Mint Cracknel please. Ta

And one for me !

I saw you cycle by as I walked down the Kings Road in Chelsea, feeling cool ( in all senses of the word) in my thin, long skirt that I had run up in my student hall of residence room, worn with a long gauzy scarf tied in a halter neck. There is a photo - I looked totally naked with the sun behind me - this is before the infamous Lady Diana, nursery school teacher photo, caught out in a similar way.

WoollyMollyMonkey · 10/01/2020 18:11

I’m doing my O’levels and suffering severe hay fever for the first time!

user764329056 · 10/01/2020 18:11

I have Sun-In on my hair and Ambre Solaire oil on my skin, I would like a Milk Sandwich choc bar from the shop or a bar of Old Jamaica

user764329056 · 10/01/2020 18:12
