Newname73. I’m jealous🤢I was 12 in 76, so wouldn’t ever have been able to go.

75 and 76, l was 10 and 11 and into BCR. 77 l was 13 and into punk. But really it just missed me. I made up for this by being a New Romantic and a Goth!

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 11/01/2020 09:16

I’m watching the robots on the advert for ‘Mash get Smash. Then l go out on my bike wearing a bikini as it’s just too hot. When l get back l watch Shang a Lang with my friend

I go on holiday to Eire. It’s also hot, and l get sunstroke for the first time in my life (in Ireland!) I’m on that cusp between child and teenager, but I’m still a child in 76.

I’ve just travelled across Birmingham on 2 buses to get to my teaching practice school with all my teaching aids in a big crochet bag I made. On the way home I might treat myself to a piece of toffee cheesecake from the food hall in 37p and I could only afford it about once a term.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 11/01/2020 09:18

And Dancing Queen is on the radio all the time.

HeronLanyon · 11/01/2020 09:21

I surprised my sister (in her 60s) by putting a large red and white striped paper straw around the door of her kitchen whilst chanting the Humphrey refrain. She yelped - all these years later ! Grin

CaptainMyCaptain · 11/01/2020 09:21

My sister and I cycled from Bracknell to Henley on Thames to swim in the river and then cycled back. We posed with the lilypads and tried to look like nymphs in Pre-Raphaelite paintings.

Parsley65 · 11/01/2020 09:29

I'm 11 and would like a sherbet fountain please.

The back lawn is yellow and I'm bored. Mum is a nurse on night shift and my brother and I have to keep quiet while she's asleep. He's older than me and goes off to smoke with his friends. They take a dim view of me tagging along.

My friend Suzanne tells me that there was a flasher in the park. We giggle and decide to go later on our bikes...

CaptainMyCaptain · 11/01/2020 09:38

I haven't got a television in my bedsit so I have no idea what this 'Humphrey' you are talking about is. (Just had to Google it.)

HeronLanyon · 11/01/2020 09:38

Think I’ll join a group of random friends for some twilight ginger’s knock along random roads full of strangers’ houses.
Might then go to the fair which has set up across the river. Mum and dad have no idea where we all are - no problem - it’s the 70s. As long as we’re back on our bikes by bedtime.
Playing out.

HeronLanyon · 11/01/2020 09:44

The wheel clippers on my chopper make a great noise plus the handlebar streamers look fab.
Might do a bit of roller skating if I can find the key to tighten the metal cleats.
Will do some tennis against the wall with my Stan Smith wooden racquet.
Gotta be ready for our school trip to Calais tomorrow by hovercraft.

daisybrown37 · 11/01/2020 10:31

I was 2/3 months old - so probably in a pram in the shade somewhere!

bsc · 11/01/2020 10:40

@Knittingnanny 37p for a slice of cheesecake Shock You could probably have had a whole cheesecake for that price at the co-op... if they'd sold cheesecake Grin A huge jar of Nescafé cost 37p...
Bus fare for a child was 2p- how much was yours?

wannabebetter · 11/01/2020 10:49

Me & my best friend Pam will come too on our matching folding bikes then we're going to hang about in the park before we go to disco dance class. Hopefully findus crispy pancakes for tea followed by butterscotch angel delight! Then I'll read my Bunty or maybe borrow my sister's Disco 45 mag to learn the words to Billy Don't Be A Hero....

Sn0tnose · 11/01/2020 12:13

I’m 7 months old but I’m fairly sure I could manage an orange Fruity. The one with the black wrapper with the oranges on it please. Also, I might need some help with the bottle, but what time is the Corona man coming?

CaptainMyCaptain · 11/01/2020 12:19

I'm having driving lessons. My new instructor (the old one was sacked for being drunk on the job!) smacks me on the leg if I keep my foot on the clutch but it seemed OK at the time - and I would never ever leave my foot riding the clutch in the future.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 11/01/2020 13:24

Can you please buy me and my friend a rock around the choc lolly

Me and little boy next you have had a picnic in the garden the luncheon meat has curled in our sandwiches as it’s so warm and the water in the paddling pool is evaporating

We have found a centipede that seems to be in my memory about 1.5 meters long Shock

We try to count his feet but he keeps moving

BikeRunSki · 11/01/2020 13:50

Midnight mint choc ice for me please.

Knittingnanny · 11/01/2020 14:27

Bsc but rackhams food hall was like Harrods! I didn’t drink or go out much so it was a special treat once a term. I’m amazed I can remember the price! I remember going to the local bank and drawing out £2 , my student allowance to last me a week. So 37p was a big purchase!

MadisonAvenue · 11/01/2020 18:26

Knittingnanny Rackhams foodhall was amazing!

mathanxiety · 11/01/2020 22:28

Now that my freckles have coalesced I finally look as if I have a tan. YAY!

Knittingnanny · 11/01/2020 22:39

Is rackhams still there?

shinynewapple2020 · 11/01/2020 22:41

I have a little blue transistor radio which I put under my pillow to listen to Radio Luxembourg after lights out. My radio is covered in Humphrey stickers, as is my tennis racket.

Madcats · 11/01/2020 22:55

I am 11. We are only allowed to flush the loo if we do a number 2. Mum uses the washing up water to keep the flowerbeds alive.

My friends from a mile away just cycle round and knock on the door to go out for the day. We'll come home when we are hungry. We put our roller skates over our sandals and off we go.

The beach should have been nice, but there are loads of ladybirds.

I am hoping we have a Vesta meal tonight (will it be paella, curry or chop suey?). It will be a lot more fun than day 3 of our Sunday roast leftovers.

waltzingparrot · 11/01/2020 22:59

I'll have a Bar Six and a packet of Spanish Gold please

ageingdisgracefully · 11/01/2020 23:05

I'm 16 and I've just taken my last O Level. Wimbledon has started. My mother is rushing home to watch it from work, crying as she's heard that Ken Rosewall is losing. He wins.

I'm wearing flares and a cheesecloth shirt. My hair is in a Farrah Fawcett Majors style. Sandals are massive platforms with a 5inch heel.

As it's so hot, it's salad for tea, comprising tomato, cucumber and lettuce. I'm still hungry but not allowed anything else. I'd prefer a Vesta meal - beef risotto is my fave.
